Sometimes you just have to change things up! Due to low numbers of reservations for
our Youth Variety Show on Valentines Day, weve canceled the show and moved on
to plan B. We could still really use your support to raise necessary funds for our mission trip to Chicago this summer...SO...were making you pancakes! Join us the 4th
Sunday of February, March and April, in the RWR. Eat up and fill our donation basket. Youll be glad you did!
~Cody
Feb. 22, 9:00-10:15 a.m. (Pancakes, meat, & fruit)
March 22, 9:00-10:15 a.m. (Biscuits & Gravy, fruit)
April 26 (12:15 p.m., 1/4ly Meeting lunch)
We are excited to
announce that the
congregation overwhelmingly voted
Sunday to invite
Rev. Cheryl Harader to become
our new half time
Associate Pastor
of spiritual formation. She has officially resigned her position as adult formation adjunct, and has
begun her transition to her new role. As a
part of that transition, you will not see her
much until her official start date of March
1, as she and we prepare for her new role.
Please continue to pray for Cheryl and the
church as we transition together.

Box of Justice
Quick updates on research:
Housing (Chairs: Rev. Randy Weinkauf and Rev. Matt Sturtevant)
This week, we acquired a description of all the tenant complaints
from Lawrence received by the Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc.
for 2013 and 2014. We have also filed an open records request on
rental/housing complaints received by the city for the same years. We
hope to determine the scale to which quality of housing is an issue in
Lawrence. We have determined that the lack of transitional housing in
Lawrence for particularly vulnerable populations (e.g., women fleeing
domestic violence) is a critical problem. We also continue to research
the issue of affordability for low-income working families in Lawrence.
Blessings,
Justice Matters

Building Reconstruction Update:

As many of you have already seen, we have new floor tiling in the Roger Williams Room and it looks great
thank you Krings Interiors! It will soon be professionally
cleaned and ready for many years of good use.
We are also happy to announce an estimated timeline of
renovations as we continue on our journey to a new,
more hospitable building! There will be some variables
out of our control, of course, but were close enough to
have a tentative schedule to move forward with. Thank
you for your continued prayers that we stay on schedule
and are able to continue doing ministry together with as
little interruption as possible!
~Pastor Matt
February 24: Receive completed permit from the city.
End of Feb through end of March: flooring installed in Youth
room, Sunday School and additional rooms, hallway, and
probably kitchen (this is the most tenuous space, given
the special process for flooring.)
April 5: Celebrate Easter in our current sanctuary.
April 6 through Memorial Day: renovation in sanctuary area,
including narthex and Judson room. (Temporary sanctuary will be set-up in Roger Williams Room. Congregational and community activities will continue to take
place, but with a more limited space.)
By Vacation Bible School (June 8), we will be ready to worship in our new space!
