INTRODUCTION

Bharti Airtel Limited, commonly known as Airtel, is an Indian multinational


telecommunications services company headquartered in New Delhi, India. It was
launched in the 7th July,1995 by Sunil Bharti Mittal ,who is currently the chairman
as well as the Managing Director.
It operates in 20 countries across South Asia, Africa, and the Channel Islands.
Airtel has a GSM network in all countries in which it operates, providing 2G, 3G
and 4G services depending upon the country of operation. Airtel is the world's
third largest mobile telecommunications company by subscribers, with over 275
million subscribers across 20 countries as of July 2013.
It is the largest cellular service provider in India, with 192.22 million subscribers
as of August 2013. Airtel is the Second largest in-country mobile operator by
subscriber base, behind China Mobile.
Airtel is the largest provider of mobile telephony and second largest provider of
fixed telephony in India, and is also a provider of broadband and subscription
television services. It offers its telecom services under the "airtel" brand, and is
headed by Sunil Bharti Mittal. Bharti Airtel is the first Indian telecom service
provider to achieve Cisco Gold Certification.[8] It also acts as a carrier for national
and international long distance communication services. The company has a
submarine cable landing station at Chennai, which connects the submarine cable
connecting Chennai and Singapore.

And its subsidiaries are :
1. Airtel Africa: Airtel Africa was launched in the year 2010. Airtel Africa is a
subsidiary of Indian telecommunications company Airtel, that operates in
17 countries across Africa. It operates a GSM network in all countries,
providing 2G or 3G depending upon the country of operation.
2. Airtel Lanka: Airtel Lanka is the brand name of mobile network operator,
Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd, the Sri Lankan subsidiary of Indian
telecommunications company Bharti Airtel. The company was awarded a
mobile phone operator license in 2006 and was scheduled to start
operations in early 2007, however the company didn't commence services
until 12 January 2009. Airtel had over 1.7 million active subscribers as of
January 2013.
3. Airtel Bangladesh: Airtel Bangladesh Ltd, DBA airtel, formerly known as
Warid Telecom, is a GSM and 3G based cellular operator in Bangladesh.
Airtel is the sixth mobile phone carrier to enter the Bangladesh market,
and originally launched commercial operations under the brand name
Warid on May 10, 2007
4. Airtel Digital TV: Airtel digital TV is an Indian direct-broadcast satellite
service provider owned and operated by Bharti Airtel. Its satellite service,
launched in 2008, transmits digital satellite television and audio to

households in India.[2] It uses MPEG-4 digital compression with DVB-S2


technology, transmitting using the satellite SES-7 108.2E.
As of 31 December 2013, Airtel digital TV has total 394 Channels and
Services including 19 HD channels.
