CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
Management Information System for LCDC
1.1.

Background of the topic / Project context

Management Information System (MIS) provides information for the


managerial activities in an organization. The main purpose of this research is MIS
provides accurate and timely information necessary to facilitate the decision-making
process and enable the organizations planning, control, and operational functions to
be carried out effectively.
Management Information System (MIS) is basically concerned with processing data
into information and is then communicated to the various Departments in an
organization for appropriate decision-making.
The Management Information System is for a department of blood donors inside the
campus used by the faculties which is called Blood Donor Inventory. This
Management system is an executed file of a personal computer use to manage
bloods, donors, type of bloods and other stuff about blood donations. It is now well
easier for them to manage data and organize all the inserted files inside the
inventory system.

1.2.

Purpose and Description of the Study

The Topics main purpose is to help them to organize their files easier for the
faculties of the blood donors. It also helps them prevent from having difficulties when
they insert data using handwritten paper works,
It is suitable for faculties, and student trainees who are well handled for the blood
donors. This system can help lessen their time to input their data in the inventory.
This system will be user-friendly due to the fact that it is easy to use, their just
like inputting the blood donors name, age, sex, department, and the type of blood of the
donor.
The program has an executable file for PC users and an android app for the
users to connect through their cellphone whenever they go. It will be cloud-database
format so that it can be updated wherever and whenever the program will be used.

This program has the capability to search blood donators, blood type, school ids,
etc. easily and automatically. It can also register new donators and it can be
configured on what the admin want to register. This users and admin can also see
their schedules through the use of a customized calendar intended for their
important events throughout the year. The admin or the faculty coordinator is
assigned for the input of their event in the calendar through his account on this
program. The admin and the coordinator is the only one allowed to change the
format of the program and the users can only use what the program has to offer.
The feature of the android app is to see the data that is stored in the cloud
database and can easily search it. The app can also see the events posted of the
coordinator on the said date with the use of the calendar. App users can create
events on what day they want to but they cant change the event the coordinator
posted. The app also has notification settings where the user will be notified if the
date of the event is today so that the app users can be alerted before they go to the
university.
The databases that will be used in these programs are cloud database and an
offline database for back-up. The executable file and android app will use a cloud
database while the executable file for the coordinator and the secretary will use both
offline database and cloud database.

Objective of the Study


1.3.1 General objective
To be able to develop an MIS system entitled Management Information
System for LCDC.
1.3.2 Specific Objective:
1.3.2.1 To be able to conduct a research about MIS system on visual studio and
Android platforms that will be needed in developing the said topic.
1.3.2.2 To be able to know the opinions and views of students, and faculty
members by conducting different surveys about the System on Visual studio and
Android platform.
1.3.2.3 To be able to develop a user-friendly application in which the users will
easily manage their files.
1.3.2.4 To be able to publish the said topic on the department of the campus.

1.3.2.5 To be able to enhance the programming and designing skills of the


proponents though the development of the said topic.

1.4.

Scope and Limitation of the Study


The system can be used by the faculties of the department and also the
students who are responsible for handling it. It may also be required that
the use knows how to interact with the system, for them to easily
understand how to use it there are simple guidelines inside the program
that helps the user to understand the system and how to use it.
It may also serve as an example, reference, and inspiration for beginners
in developing / creating inventory system with Management Information
System. The application is primarily a source of organizing files for the
blood donors.
The application can be used as long as the user has access to a personal
computer that has the program installed on it and meets the requirement
of the program, people would want a certain program that could help them
easily organize their files / data when it comes to pressured works.
The limitation of the Android app is that it must be connected to a Wi-Fi
connection before it must be used because of the cloud database that will
be used for this program.
Since this is a commission research, the app can be changed on what the
department wants and our only choice is to grant them what they want if
the idea is or are can be programmed. This means that the features of the
program can be added or can be remove if the department wants it to be.
