1. Why MBA?

Well, to be honest I have always thought that my aptitude is in business

studies. I even got admission in BBA back in 2008, but due to family trends I
pursued engineering instead-a decision which I second-guessed many many
times. In ABCDEF, fortunately I was posted in the project planning division
where I mostly have to work with management and cost-budgeting etc. So I
thought to myself this is a good opportunity.. its not too late to follow my
heart. Because, apart from studying what I love, at this stage pursuing an
MBA will also help me in my current job.
2. Why IBA?
The reason I chose IBA is because the little time that I have spent in
searching about the best institute for business studies in Karachi, IBAs name
always came up on the top. It produces one of the best graduates in industry
and it has a strong alumni network. In fact, my major reason for choosing IBA
is its very strong and supportive alumni network.
3. Current job assignments & its relation to MBA.
A. Technical Management related to projects cost, schedule monitoring &
control.
B. Related reports: Cost Analysis in excel, Scheduling in Gantt Chart, Product
Tree etc.
C. Consultant contracts Cost Benefit Analysis.
4. Future in next 5-10 years
Very successful.
I will probably have a career change, if an opportunity arises.
Or if I decide to stay in this job I will pursue higher education probably a phD
in Management or Engineering Management
5. Hobbies??

The questions:

Discuss your career progression.

Give examples of how you have demonstrated leadership inside and outside
the work environment.
Inside work environment, I am the only officer in my section which means that there
are about 3-4 people working under me for whom I am responsible. And I have to take
the lead in all the ongoing projects and activities.
Outside of work, I would like to quote the example of World Space Week. I dont know
if you have heard about it: its an event held in ABCDEF every year for space
awareness. And I have been a very active participant which involves taking
responsibility for stage setup etc.

What do you want to do (in regard to business function, industry, location)?

What would you do if not accepted?

Well in that case I would seek for an MS in engineering to at least continue with my
education and training. And to keep my business studies and management spirit alive I
will probably apply for short courses and trainings which can be managed in parallel
with my job.
What are your long- and short-term goals? Why?
Short term goal is MBA, which I am trying to achieve right now.
My ultimate goal is to achieve personal satisfaction and happiness.

Why did you choose your undergraduate major?

Discuss yourself.

What contributions would you make to a group?

In a group, I am a great team player and a good negotiator/ mediator so my major
contribution will be to find out ways in which the group can work together peacefully
and productively. I also think that I have a certain amount of leadership skills because
apart from being a mediator I have a very strong decision making power. I have
always taken responsibility in all major decisions of my life.

Name three words or phrases to describe yourself to others.

Introvert but not in my limited friend circle.
Very serious
Efficient

What is most frustrating at work?

Last minute tasks: The kind where the deadline is near and suddenly you get a new
task that needs to be incorporated in the project. There are so many variables you
cannot control, like getting input from all divisions and then you have to reconfigure
the whole outline its very hectic.
Security Restrictions: Since I work in an SPD organization there are so many
restrictions like you cannot bring a cellphone, you cannot plug in the USB and you have
limited internet access. Its very frustrating when so much time is wasted because you
cannot utilize the resources.

How would co-workers describe you?

Team-player and very studious

Describe a typical work day.

Have you worked in a team environment? What were your contributions to

the effort?
Yes. In our company we have specific sections and each section is working collectively
on the same projects. Since I am the informal section head, my job is to lead the
project. I divide the tasks, make sure each task is being done on time, review plans
and take responsibility for everything.

I dont have any work experience abroad since this is my first job. However, I went to
China recently, in fact this year, for recreational purposes.

I was sponsored by this company.

What do you do to relieve stress?

Watch a movie, listen to music.. and if I am too stressed then I pray.

It's two years after graduation, what three words would your team
members use to describe you?

Describe a situation where you brought an idea forward, and it failed.

After working for a year in my office I put forward this idea that since all officers
involved in the project planning and management division are essentially engineers,
they should at least be offered PMP certification. But unfortunately it was rejected. s
