WHERE DID WE GET OUR PROJECT


IDEA?
MAGLEV TECHNOLOGY:

It is just a method of by which an object is


suspended with no support except magnetic field
forces. The aircraft will be placed on the sledge
and the lift to the sledge will be provided by the
repulsive magnetic force just like used in high
speed train technology, and the extra thrust will
be provided by the sideway guided alternating
magnetic field from the electromagnets. The
whole idea of our project is deduce from this high
speed train technology.

If we can come up with such high speed trains then why


not we should take off our aircraft by utilizing these
stunning properties of electromagnet and the
proliferating use of linear motor. This idea is all about
EMALS as given below.

ELECTRO MAGNETIC AIRCRAFT LAUNCH


SYSTEM (EMALS)
Electric and electromagnetic systems continue to play a
critical role in the future Air force and Navy for the
defense system of combatant country. Engineers working
at the forefront of these technologies by developing
advanced electromagnetic systems for aircraft carriers,
surface combatants, and submarines. These systems
provide the Navy with an advanced weapons delivery
capability that requires less maintenance, fewer sailors to

operate and maintain these systems and a reduced life


cycle cost.
At first steam catapult would use to take off aircraft from
the deck of the aircraft carrier. In this system steam
generated inside the carrier would then come to large
cylinders and this pressurized steam would then run the
piston that is connected to the aircraft landing gear and
push the aircraft to the take off speed.
Why do we want to replace the obsolete steam catapult
system by this new technology of ELECTRO MAGNETIC
AIRCRAFT LAUNCHING SYSTEM?

HOW STEAM CATAPULT BECAME


OBSOLETE:
TIME CONSUMING AND TIRESOME:
When the steam catapult is in the standby mode, there cant be
any launch of the aircraft for 12 hours, as it requires lot of time to
create steam and manipulate the whole mechanical process of
this type of catapult system.

SPACE PROBLEM:
There are valves, pipes, pistons, lubrication and some time
leakage may occur. These components require lot of space to
operate and is the major drawback of this system, as we always
look for a system which can manipulate in less space.

WEIGHT PROBLEM:
This whole system can some time be so unsteady and heavy that
it can create instability in the ship voyage.

INCAPABILITY TOWARDS MODERN LARGE


AIRCRAFTS:
Today aircraft are getting larger and heavier, so they need a
catapult system that can launch these aircrafts up to the
necessary speed in order to get airborne, similarly modern
unmanned aircraft can also be launched easily through this
technology.

HIGH MAINTANANCE:
As we know there will be valves, boiler, piston, piping and
lubricating system, so it will require lot of crew members for its
maintenance.

GOALS TO BE ACHIEVED:
Our main goal is to run a practical model on the concept
of ELECTRO MAGNETIC AIRCRAFT LAUNCHING SYSTEM. In
this system we shall require electrical energy,
electromagnets, energy storing device (flywheel), linear
motor and an aircraft.
Inshaa ALLAH this concept of launching aircraft would
brought our air force wing a new menace for the
upcoming combatant nations of the world.

We would specially dedicate this project to our AIR FORCE


who has 100% hit rate against Israel.
