platform,whichisfreetouse.
TheycanalsousethevideotechnologytoconnecttheirstudentswithotherCanadianschools,
includingEastviewpublicschoolinTorontoandBusbySchoolinBusby,Alta.
Nunavutschoolshavestruggledwithlowattendanceratesandstudentengagement.
ConnectedNorthishopingtheinitiativewillhelpbyproviding"afreshapproachtolearning,
allowingteachersandadministratorstoexposetheirstudentstonewpeople,experiencesand
ideas."
NorthernserviceproviderSSiMicroisdonatingprioritizedsatellitebandwidthtoensureschools
canconnectquicklyandsmoothlywithschoolsandexperts.

throughapartnershipbetweenCisco,RBCFoundationandSickKids,ahospitalforsickchildren
inToronto.
Telelink,developedin2009,providesyouthlivinginremoteruralareaseasieraccesstomental
healthservices.Theycanconnecttopsychiatriststhroughvideoconferencingandother
technologies.
Ciscoisproviding10ofitsTelePresencehighdefinitionvideolinkstoNunavutHealthCentres
andthreeunitstoSickKids,alongwithbackendinfrastructure.
"ThepartnershipwiththeHospitalforSickChildrengivesusgreateraccesstopatientpsychiatric
careforchildrenandyouthtoassistintheirhealing,"saidHealthMinisterMonicaEll."Working
withtheHospitalforSickChildrenwillalsohelpusdeliverclinicaltrainingtoourhealthcare
professionals."

suicideratesarehigh,thenewsreleasestates.
In2013arecordnumberofNunavummiuttooktheirownlives,promptingchiefcoronerPadma
Suramalatocallforadiscretionaryinquestintosuicidedeathsintheterritory.
Thevideoequipmentandfundsforprogrammingrepresenta$1.6millioninvestmentbyCisco.
TheprogramisnotcostingtheGovernmentofNunavutorschoolsintheterritoryanythingat
thistime.
