TOP ACCOMPLISHMENTS

PEOPLE:
Dave Dunaj received a Research and Engineering Excellence Award Jan. 27. Scott ONeil nominated Dave for his
pivotal role in the BLU-129/B precision lethality Mk-82 Quick Reaction Capability Program.
Greg Ball was selected as the NAWCWD Mentor of the Year. Capt. Karl Andina presented Greg with a letter of
appreciation from NAVAIR Commander Vice Adm. David Dunaway on Jan. 28.
Janet Hughes received a Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award on Jan. 29. Janet is a member of the Anti-Tamper
Branch supporting the F/A-18 Advanced Weapons Lab.
VX-30s LS1 (AW/SW) Jose E. Camposflores was named the 2014 NAVAIR Sailor of the Year.
Marcel Leake was one of NAVAIRs three 2015 Black Engineer of the Year Award winners for the Modern Day
Technology Leadership Awards. These awards were presented Feb. 6 at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards
Conference in Washington, D.C.
NAWCWD will be recruiting during the week of Feb. 9 at the following events/schools: Auburn University, Embry
Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott), SPIE Photonics (journey level), University of New Mexico, Tuskegee
University, and BYU.
WORK:
The Threat/Target Systems Department (AIR-5.3) successfully flew a BQM-34S Subsonic Aerial Target carrying
wingtip and tail mounted payloads in support of the SEAVEX project at the China Lake Land Range.
AIR-5.3 presented the Mobile Ship Target and other support vessels for the Synthetic Guidance (Tomahawk TFT-402)
event on the Sea Range.
NAWCWD led an Independent Logistics Review on Jan. 29 for the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) program.
Attending were Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, PMA-201 LRASM team, and DASN Logistics. The
informal logistics review was conducted on the tailored integrated product support process to successfully assess
supportability requirements and objectives.
Members of the F/A-18 Product Support Team successfully loaded H8E fleet representative SCS, H10 Build 3.10 and
H12 Build 2.0 onto the Tactical Operational Flight Trainer 125 located in Michelson Lab.
The Airborne Electronic Attack Integrated Product Team supported the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit 3rd Radio
Battalion Detachment training for Intrepid Tiger II (V)1 in January.
BAE Systems Information Solutions Inc. (large business) and Information Systems Laboratories Inc. (small business)
each received contract awards for the development and fielding of Intelligence Exploitation and Targeting Systems
prototypes. This is a $45M multiple award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract.
The Radar Reflectivity Lab at Point Mugu continued Radar Cross Section testing of the Modified Ballistic Reentry
Vehicle in support of Missile Defense Agency.
The Integrated Battlespace Arena (IBAR) at China Lake supported the LRASM Integrated Flight Demonstration-2, an
LVC (Live, Virtual, Constructive) test event scheduled for Feb. 3-5. This event adds the virtual and constructive elements
in the IBAR, Advanced Weapons Lab, and InterTEC Labs to the live LRASM event on the Point Mugu Sea Range.

IBAR teamed with 5.2 Ranges Department and 4.9 WSCI labs in support of the Tomahawk Flight Test Synthetic
Guidance Demonstration, and provided Synthetic Guidance integration to the live event on the Sea Range as well as the
network and video solutions required to bring the event to Michelson Lab at China Lake for VIP viewing.
IBAR provided data link support to LRASM, HARPOON BLK II, and DARPA CODE/CASE.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 10 at Point Mugu for the High-power Electronic Attack Technique
Radiation (HEATR) lab. The event will take place in building 3009 from 1-2 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW

NAWCWD's due date for required Annual Ethics Training is Feb. 12. The most recent report shows that only 68
percent of the OGE-450 filers have completed the required training. Questions should be directed to the Office of
Counsel at 760-939-3481.
There will be a Wellness Lunch & Learn event on the subject of "Diabetes Awareness" at Point Mugu on Feb. 18 from
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the training center, building 366, room 100.
Registration for the 14th Annual Expanding Your Horizons runs from Feb. 10-20. EYH will be held March 7 from 8

Reminder: every individual who holds a security clearance is due for re-investigation every five years for a top secret
clearance or 10 years for a secret clearance. You will receive an email from the Security Department when your
investigation is due detailing the steps you will need to take to be compliant. Please respond to the Security Department
as soon as you are notified; failure to comply will result in DODCAF suspending your access, which includes revoking
your CAC and Area Access Badge.
Weapons 201 - Modeling & Simulation will be held March 3-6 at the China Lake training center. This course is an indepth follow-on to the M&S module of Weapons 101. The course runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Register online at

SIGNIFICANT LEADERSHIP MEETINGS

Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan (JSF JPO) visited NAWCWD Feb. 5-6. He held all-hands sessions with the JSF teams at
both sites and received updates on software sustainment as well as other significant work.
Rear Adm. Mark Darrah (PEO(U&W)), Robert Kimble, and Michael Erk will visit China Lake Feb. 10-11.
Dan Nega (AIR-4.2) will be visiting NAWCWD at both sites Feb. 10-12.
