Projects can be anything within the domain of electronics, embedded systems or

communication systems.

3) Branch and Year
(In case of group project, details of all the team members should be sent. The size of the team should
justify the complexity of the project.)

The project will be evaluated by the end of January by a panel of judges.

NOTE Certificates would be awarded only if the functionality and working of the project is verified by
the judges.

PROJECT IDEAS

These are only examples for contextual help.

You are free to make a project on any topic of your own.
a) DTMF/ Remote Home automation
The DTMF circuitry should be built on your own, not with a readymade module.
b) RFID based Door Access Control System/ Attendance system
There will one receiver (Rx) connected to the door and user have one RFID tag. Receiver reads ID of user
and validates. If any tag is kept near the reader the receiver will read the tag and door will open if its an
authorized tag and a proper message will be displayed on the screen.
c) Audio generation
Make a musical instrument (piano, drums etc.) that uses a microcontroller to generate different tones
when different inputs are given.
The duration of sound played should be as per the instrument.
d) Robot(s)
Build a robot that includes or combines any of the following concepts:
Bluetooth/ RF/ DTMF control
Find its path through a room
Self-balancing using gyro sensor and accelerometer
Navigate using RFID tags implanted along the path.
Bipied or Multipied robots
e) Accelerometer based Hand Gesture Robot
The transmitting device includes devices for motion, analog to digital conversion, encoding and finally
transmission. Similarly at the receiver end, design appropriate decoder and microcontroller processor to
feed to the motor.
f) Home Security System
Build a security system which includes things like electronic lock, motion sensory etc. Also if intruder is
detected, an alarm should be raised and the owner should be notified by an SMS.
g) FM Radio
h) Ultrasonic Based Walking Stick
Make a walking stick for the visually impaired people which detects objects using ultrasonic sensor and
use some kind of mechanism (vibration/sound) to alert the user.
i) POV propeller display/clock
Use the concept of persistence of vision to construct a display with a rotating fan blade covered with
LEDs.

j) Robotic Arm
The robotic arm should be able to pick and drop objects.
The arm can be user controlled or autonomous.

Image Processing based Projects

a) Face Recognition using PCA algorithm
Face recognition method using PCA with neural network back error propagation learning algorithm in
MATLAB.
b) Coloured object follower/avoider bot
The robot should able to sense different colours and accordingly follow and avoid objects accordingly.
