Introduction
Welcome to
Maisemore Apiaries Ltd

Honey House & Storage
Maisemore Apiaries began when Leo and Leslie Hiam

started keeping bees as a hobby, when the Second
World War began they had to go and help the war
effort so the bees were left to their own devices, on
their return they increased the number of bees and
began to make beekeeping equipment.
Now Maisemore Apiaries is still a family run and
owned business, looked after by Eric, Johnathan
and Mark Hiam, we now have approx. 1000 hives of
bees all in standard National hives around Hereford,
Worcester and Gloucestershire, our hives are used
for pollination of all fruits and arable crops and honey
production.
We are based in Maisemore, Gloucester and are still
working from some of the same buildings that Leo
and Leslie worked in, we now supply all of the UK and
Ireland and indeed all the world.
Our shop is full of all the beekeeping equipment that
is practical and essential to beekeeping, we are open
six days a week, normally with a beekeeper on hand
to answer all your questions.

The Environment
All the timber used in making our bee hives and
hive parts come from sustainable forests around the
world.
Wood waste is all recycled, saw
dust and shavings are all bagged
in our plant and used as bedding
for pets and horses, timber off
cuts are used as firewood. We
also now manufacture wooden
briquettes for open fires, ovens,
chimeneas, woodburning stoves
and bbqs at an amazing price of 3.50 per 10kg
when collected from our premises.
Last year we bought a machine for recycling
cardboard, old cardboard boxes are collected from
local shops and used as loose fill/packaging for all
mail orders.

1st March - CLOSED for Stoneleigh Convention
We will be closed for Christmas 2014 from

24th December 2014 to 5th January 2015.

all frames will interchange between the two hives, available in the flat for self assembly or

OUR RANGE OF HIVES
All the hives in our range are made from Western Red Cedar, one of the most beautiful woods in the world, light yet very durable, ideally suited to the
UK weather, we also supply some hives National and Langstroth in a Softwood option as not all of our customers are prepared to pay the higher price
for Cedar, indeed on the continent and America most of the hives are made from Softwood, we ourselves have some Softwood bee hives which are
more than thirty years old which Leo and Leslie used to use when they were beekeeping.

The National hive is the most widely used hive in the UK and is
available in several options, you may decide you require a larger brood
area than a standard brood chamber offers, you will then require a 14
x 12 brood chamber or possibly an open mesh floor instead of a solid
floor, there is also the option of an 8 deep roof, hive stand or gabled
roof to make your National hive to look more like a WBC.

The WBC hive is the one most children would draw when asked to
draw a bee hive, there is an outer skin and inner skin which offers more
protection from the elements but also makes it more time consuming to

Surcharges apply to addresses in the Highlands and islands

of Scotland, Northern Ireland, The Isle of Man, Isles of
Scilly, Channel Islands, Southern Ireland & outside the UK.
Postal Services
We endeavour to post all orders promptly. All parcels are sent at cost,
by next day delivery, or Parcel Post 3-4 working days. Whilst every
effort is made to despatch all orders immediately, please allow 28 days
for delivery.
Jars, Bee Syrup, Bee Candy, Feedbee and Buckets of Honey are
excluded from FREE delivery - 8.99 per item. IF ANY ITEMS ARE
DAMAGED OR LOST YOU MUST NOTIFY US WITHIN 10
WORKING DAYS OR CLAIMS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.
We will also be closed on 5th April 2014 for the BBKA Spring
Convention at Harper Adams University College, Newport, Shropshire
TF10 8NB and also on 1st March 2014 for the Beetradex Show,

Directions
When you get to the village of Maisemore go past the public house called The White Hart Inn on your right, approx 300 yards on the right is a nursing
home called Deanwood Lodge, turn into Church Road. When you get to the Church bear left and follow the road until you meet the cross roads, go
straight over. You will climb uphill for approx 3/4 mile. When you drop down into the bottom you will find Maisemore Apiaries car park on the left and
the shop on your right.
