Rabigh Refinery Plant Saudi Arabia

One Flue Gas Cooler for FCC unit 230 t/h

Plant info
Petro Rabigh, A Joint Venture of Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical are planning the
worlds largest integrated refining and petrochemical complex at Rabigh. The High Olefin
FCC and Ethane Cracker are the main facilities of the Complex, producing approximately
1.3 million tons per year of ethylene and 900,000 tons per year of propylene. JGC from
Japan is constructing the High Olefins plant according to the Stone & Webster FCC
technology. The plant will be built on the Red Sea coast at Rabigh, approximately 140
kilometers north of Jeddah. Construction work on this plant will start in 2006. NEM will
provide the Flue Gas Cooler to cool down the gases coming from the HOFCC unit.

SOHAR Refinery Plant Oman

One CO boiler for RFCC unit 327 t/h

Plant info
The Sohar Refinery Company was set up in 2003 to construct, commission and operate a
new grass roots refinery in Wilayat of Sohar, Oman (250km northwest of the capital
Muscat). The company is 20% owned by the Oman Oil Company and 80% by the
government of Oman.
The refinery is designed to process a mixed feedstock of Oman crude oil and atmospheric
residue from the Oman Refining Company. The refinery will have a Residue Fluidised
Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) unit with a capacity of 75,260b/d. Standard Fasel Lentjes has
provided the CO boiler that oxidizes the CO content in the flue gas from the RFCC unit and
produce steam from this flue gas. This experience of Standard Fasel Lentjes has been
transferred to NEM.
