Founded in 1407, the School moved
to its present site in 1776, located on
the outskirts of the town. Its beautiful
grounds and playing fields occupy a
site of 50 acres and we enjoy a safe
and semi-rural surroundings.There is
an ongoing programme of building
and refurbishment; recently, the
School opened a new dining hall and
tennis courts. Recent developments
include a Sixth Form boys boarding house in 2006, a new teaching block in 2008 and
refurbishment of the younger boys boarding house in 2009 .The School already benefits from a
20 metre heated swimming pool and the addition of sports hall is next on the list of
developments.
The School aims to maintain discipline and good manners in all aspects, and operates as a
community which seeks to safeguard the rights of the individual, respecting all faiths and none.We
offer an excellent dining facility providing a wide range of healthy options and can cater for
specific dietry needs.
We provide 3 well-equipped boarding houses, with a full and varied programme of after school
and weekend activities available. Each house is run by the Houseparents, who are resident during
term time, supported by a caring team.
