MARK PROGRAM
BRANDING GUIDE

Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the CWB WeldingSpecialist Mark Program. This program has been set up to
showcase the commitment and eort Welding Specialists put into applying for and maintaining their welding
knowledge. The Mark is a visual indicator that allows Welding Specialists to promote themselves, having proven
their knowledge of welding standards knowledge and their commitment to Canadian codes and standards. Through
the WeldingSpecialist Mark program mark holders get access to:

Promotion programs through the CWB Group Public Safety/ WeldingSpecialist Mark Site
A publicly assessable database of Welding Specialists holding the Mark
Promotion campaigns and media coverage
Opportunities to showcase services
Opportunities to further dierentiate themselves in the market through their Mark.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The CWB WeldingSpecialist Mark is not to be confused with the CWB Certification Mark
the two are dierent mark programs, with dierent objectives and terms of use.

Document Overview
The intent of this document is to provide the necessary information for a Welding Specialist to understand the
WeldingSpecialist Mark rules and the guidelines. This document is comprised of the following sections:
Section 1 - Terms of use

Section 1

Terms of use
Use of the CWB WeldingSpecialist Mark is governed by a set of rules and guidelines that apply to all individuals that
request, and are granted, the right to use the WeldingSpecialist Mark. Welding Specialists are collectively referred to as
Mark Holders and must abide by the following:
Integrity of mark: The WeldingSpecialist Mark must also be accompanied by a Mark Number (SMN), these are typically
displayed with a QR Code for easy access to the WeldingSpecialist data stored on the CWB Office of Public safety website
(Mark Holder Profile).
Proper association of mark: The Mark/ SMN is only intended to indicate an individuals commitment to follow best
practices and Canadian codes, it should never be used to infer, convey or otherwise indicate the qualification of a specific
person, item or product.
Mark ownership: The Mark and its associated SMN is owned by the CWB Group, its use is non-transferable, and should
only be used by the person to whom it is assigned.
Correct use of the mark: The mark Holder will always follow the WeldingSpecialist Mark Branding Guidelines outlined in
Section 5 when using and or reproducing the Mark.

Section 2

Expiration, Withdraw, Removal and Reapplication of right to use


Expiration of right to use: Use of the WeldingSpecialist Mark is valid for a period of five years from the date initial
approval granted. In order to extend the approval, completion of training and examination may be required.
Withdraw of right to use: CWB Group reserves the right to withdraw a WeldingSpecialist Mark should the mark holder
breach (i) any of the terms of this agreement and or (ii) and or incorrect use/ reproduction of the WeldingSpecialist
Mark. Upon withdraw of the Mark both the SMN and QR Code associated with the mark will be disabled, and the right to
promote using the mark on promotional material will be revoked. Mark Holders will then have up to 90 days to address
and correct any noncompliant items.
Removal of right to use: Failure to address all outstanding noncompliant issues after 90 days will result in the formal
request to immediately remove the WeldingSpecialist Mark as well as all reference to the WeldingSpecialist Mark from
any website, advertising or promotional material it may be used on.
Reapplication for right to use: CWB Group reserves the right to deny the use of the WeldingSpecialist Mark for any Mark
Holder who has previously had their right to use the WeldingSpecialist Mark removed.

Section 3

Sharing of Mark Holder data


A key part of the WeldingSpecialist Mark program is to provide the general public with information that allows informed
decisions to be made. To facilitate this, all Mark Holder, past and present, agree to have certain data held by the CWB to
be made public, for general consumption through the Mark Holder Profiles accessible through the Office of Public Safety
website.
Types of data to be shared through a Mark Holder Profile:




Name
Address, if provided
Contact details, if provided
WeldingSpecialist Mark Status (active or removed)
Additional designations, if provided

Consent to share data: Use of the WeldingSpecialist Mark at any point past or present signifies that the Mark Holder
agrees to the ongoing publication of the data defined in Section 3.
Future changes: CWB Group reserves the right to modify or amend the data made public from time to time to reflect
changes in the WeldingSpecialist Mark program.

Section 4

Acceptance of terms of use


Use of the WeldingSpecialist Mark in any form represents the full acceptance of the terms of use and conditions set out
within this document.

Section 5

CWB WeldingSpecialist Mark Branding General Guidelines


All Mark Holders must abide by the branding guidelines outlined in this document, failure to will result in the withdrawing
of usage rights as per section 2.2.
With respect to the use or reproduction of the WeldingSpecialist Mark the follow rules apply:
The WeldingSpecialist Mark Logo, as well as any related elements (SMN, QR Codes, text, background colour, etc)
collectively referred to as the WeldingSpecialist Mark - must be used as provided and cannot be modified, in
anyway, by the Mark Holder.
The WeldingSpecialist Mark must always be reproduced on a solid white background with no other text, images or
other non-mark elements showing.
The WeldingSpecialist Mark can be resized however the following conditions must be met:
All text contained in the mark should remain legible to the unaided eye.
The marks QR Code should remain functional at whatever sizing is chosen by the Mark Holder.
When placing the WeldingSpecialist Mark it must be positioned/ resized to maintain minimal the protected space
margins on all sides
The WeldingSpecialist Mark Website Widget, when used, must be incorporated into electronic material as is,
no modification of its code or graphics is permitted.
