7 - 14 June, Oslo NORWAY
Fortidsminneforeningen, the Society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient
Monuments, in cooperation with Europa Nostra invites young craftsmen from across
Europe to come together to participate in an intensive, 7-day workshop focusing on the
traditional crafts and building techniques of Norway. The programme has been specially
designed to coincide with the Europa Nostra Annual Congress in Oslo (10-14 June 2015)
and will allow young European crafters to take part in hands-on training sessions in
conservation and restoration, township development and environmental protection with a
special focus on learning about traditional Norwegian wooden craftsmanship and masonry.
The programme will also include visits to museums and special excursions.
A contribution to the travel expenses (max. 200 EUR per person), all expenses related to
accommodation in Oslo, breakfasts and lunches during the period of the workshop and
expenses for necessary transportation in Oslo will be covered by the Society for the
Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments, subject to confirmation of the financial
support from Norwegian public bodies concerned.
As part of the programme of the workshop, participants will also be invited to attend some
public events organised in the framework of the Europa Nostra Annual Congress in Oslo,
including the European Heritage Awards Ceremony which will be held in the evening of 11
June at the emblematic Oslo City Hall.
