3.4 INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL FACTOR EVALUATION

The aim of every SWOT analysis is to find the key internal and
external factors that are important to achieve the objective. For this
report, the SWOT analysis presents the organizations strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Based on what I observed
and also some opinions from my training supervisor, the SWOT
analysis of the SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd as following:
Internal Factors
a. Strengths
SAJH is a subsidiary company
Holdings

where

they

inheriting

of

Ranhill

the

water

management process from experience.

This company is monopoly because

the

conditions of the service industry Water act

2006

which

only

one

company

that

can

operate in each state.

17

Staff experience majority of the staff are

former employees of the Syarikat Air Johor Sdn

Bhd.
Received awards and recognition.
The consumer can request the bill without any

charges.
Provide the kiosk service, which is convenient
to the consumers and the workers for paying

their utility bills.

Start 2010, the company has provided the
water rebate for the targeted group, which is
lessen a burden of the target group.

b. Weaknesses
This company does not have any competitors
where they have no challenges and possibility

does not have any competitiveness.

The Kiosk service is limited which is it only

provide in lobby of SAJH.

If any changes of the suppliers address in any
zone in the State of Johor, only the responsible
person

can

handle

it.

In

order to avoid

sabotage. The procedure is the suppliers need

to make a letter to inform about their address
is change.
2. External Factors
a. Opportunities
Under the regime of migration - legal regulated
by SPAN. If any happen on the operations, it

may refer to SPAN.

Growing development

increase in using of water.

Political influence helps in the support of new

or

property

may

policies.
18

b. Threats
Water resources.
o If development is widely developed or are
unable controlled, there will be a threat to
the water supply. For example, the forests
destroyed. This may cause in reduced
water reserve
o

because

we

get water

supply from nature.

Agricultural activities involving the use of
fertilizers and pesticides to ensure fertility.
Fertilizers and pesticides can enter the
water through the flow of water on the soil
surface

and

underground.

Admission

materials that will reduce water quality.

Climate change resulting in threats to the
water supply. For example drought will
cause a decline in water reservoirs and
rivers dry up.

3.5 SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT

The SAJH can increase the number of kiosk in anywhere such as the
hypermarket, etc. This may enable the consumers to pay utility bills. In
the event of a water crisis, the SAJ have to supply water regularly. They
need to assistance water through tankers in each district of the State of
Johor. They also need to announce house to house through the hailer as
well inform the mass media such as TV, newspapers, websites.

19

3.6 CONCLUSION
In summary, this chapter explained about the vision, mission and
objectives of the company. Based on mission and goal, I may identify what
kind of objective that the SAJH want achieve it. Besides that, I may
distinguish

the

strengths,

weaknesses

for

this

company

as

The suitability of training with my field of the study is likely to have some
misses. This is because training industry in my place is more to field of
accounting rather than in financing. However, accounting is my minor
course so there is something that I learned in my practicum as well I get
very meaningful experience in here.
In addition, the SAJH is practice strong internal performance
measure using the balance scorecard for achieving their target. I have

22

learned about it in subject Strategic Management and Business Policy

hence, the balance scorecard approach to strategy evaluation aims to
balance long-term with short-term concerns, to balance financial with
nonfinancial concerns and to balance internal with external concerns 1. The
SAJH using it to achieve their objective target based on financial,
customer, internal business process and learning and growth.

For

example, their training and development program are linked to the

companys business strategic objectives through learning and growth
perspective of the companys balance scorecards.

CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION

5.1 INTRODUCTION
This is the final chapter for this report. In this chapter describes an
overview of the organization. Furthermore, I need to give some opinions,
suggestions and recommendations during practical in the organization.

5.2 OVERALL OVERVIEW ON THE ORGANIZATION

As we know that SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary company of Ranhill
Utility Berhad. The SAJH has 13 agencies in the State of Johor. The headquarters locate in Larkin, Johor Bahru.
In my opinion the SAJH is a company that concerned with the welfare of
workers where the company conduct healthy lifestyle. This is because
almost 74% people have a problem SAJH hypertension, diabetes and
obesity. Recognising this, SAJH has collaborated with the MOH Malaysia,
Regency Specialists Hospitals, Medical Groups Johor State Sports Council
and Asia Assistance Network strives in creating awareness about the
importance of health among SAJH. At the same time, the finance
department need to handling the medical, insurance, etc. for the workers
In addition, the company is maintaining good relationships between
employees and customers where the company will hold Jamuan Raya once
every year. Besides, the company is also conducting a Program Mesra CEO
where it makes a good relationship between the superiors with the
subordinates.

25

SAJH also defend the lives of poor people by listening to all their
complaints and give some donations for their plight. Furthermore, these
companies are given rebates to the poor to alleviate the cost of their daily
lives.
Other

than

that,

SAJH

implementing

noble

values

to

their

employees. Recently, the company has run the program Go Green. The Go
Green program supports the purpose of the green shoots of young, fresh,
and pointing to the embedded in the SAJs logo. The objective of this
program is the practice of continuous learning through innovation and
creativity in daily work, helping companies saving the operating costs,
prioritize customer needs and foster the spirit of love of work, etc.

5.3 OPINION, SUGGESTION AND THE RECOMMENDATION

The industrial training that I have undergone here, I greatly appreciate.
From this practical, I want to make some recommendations, suggestions
and opinions:
a. The company requested to disclose more things related to the work
done so that students get more benefit from the practical.
b. The company should give students the opportunity to learn more
about any of the work they do during the industrial training.
c. Academic supervisor should give monitoring and the more frequent
support of students undergoing industrial training because there
may be problems facing by the students. As the students, they are
not ready at the workplace.
d. The University should extend the period of Industrial Training lasts
for 12 weeks. The period was given for 10 weeks in the industry is
not enough to learn and explore a variety of knowledge.

26

e. Students should be exposed to the outside world, not just in the

office.
5.4 CONCLUSION
10 weeks after undergoing industrial training at SAJH, there are a lot of
new knowledge that can be learned, and I can totally understand how the
company plays an important role in the fields of industry, especially in the
areas of the water industry. Disclose that was given to me by the staffs of
SAJH on the technical aspects of the work and knowledge that is very
meaningful to me to prepare myself before stepping into the real work in
the future. I hope the implications of Industrial Training, there will be no
more strange feeling when students begin to work after they have
completed their courses later. Staff at the SAJH is helping me. By giving me
a lot of guidance on how the payment system is done here.
The exposure that was given to me at this company can give the
impression of a real-life situation, the duties and responsibilities that will
be implemented by a number of people in this area. Industrial Training
gives a positive impact on the students to improve the quality of the work.
Students are able to exposure to the actual situation of the operation,
development and management in the workplace. Students can also gain
experience in learning a variety of techniques such as problem solving,
contributing ideas, working in groups, and self-discipline. Furthermore, it is
also able to generate excellent graduates in and are always open-minded,
innovative, intelligent communication and competitive.
Finally, the involvement of students in the training industry as this
can prove and strengthen the identity of students in technical training, at
the same time make the university as a practical platform for education. In
27

addition, the report format should be done by the students after

undergoing industrial training can educate each student in the preparation
of technical reports complete, compact and in the right circumstances can
make an important knowledge when they face the real situation then. This
is in accordance with the university's objective which is to produce a highquality workforce, and some professionals in the country.
