hi bri + monica.

tactility

M: my passion and research led to learning that tactility has the most powerful impact on human emotion,

M: our skin contains receptors that directly elicit emotional responses such as pain or love or

happy

B: happiness.

from my survey that i conducted the main conclusion is that people find their moments of happiness from

B: being surrounded by people. the relationships we build with others provide love through friendship and family while
strengthening self appreciation.

tactility + happy =

p a i r -fection

M: we both were interested in making environmental pieces and

once we realized our objectives aligned, we decided to join forces to create an installation that utilizes both of our topics of
interest

# br i o n i c a

B: just call us brionica hashtag.

how can an interactive installation utilizing technology and design provoke

happiness / positively affect a persons immediate emotional state?

M: so our question ishow can an interactive installation utilizing technology and design provoke happiness / positively
aect a persons immediate emotional state?

feel

B: together we FEEL that, that FEEL encompasses both the idea of touch and a positive emotional response.

goal

give participants a moment of happiness as payoff for

interacting with the installation

M: FEEL would give participants a moment of happiness as payo for

interacting with the installation

objective

to get people to live in that particular moment as they

are educated on the benefits of interactive design and
the importance of human connection through touch

B: we want to get people to live in that particular moment as they

are educated on the benefits of interactive design and

the importance of human connection through touch

parts

instructional + educational branded system

interactive panel
take away that shows user feedback

M: 3 Parts

A Podium Provides The Viewers With Instructions And Educates Them On The Topic Of Touch And Happiness.

Above Or Behind The Podium, An Interactive Panel Is Placed For Enjoyment

And As A Take Away, A Branded Item Would Record Our Audiences Sources Of Happiness

B: so for our branded system we want to graphically represent dierent sources of positive emotion through shapes, color and sound.

M: the sound directly associated with happiness is laughter. to tie in the dierent sources of positive emotion, we would
have dierent audio clips of laughter

B: The installation would engage the audience, like these examples, while incorporating the visual system and having laughter as the interactive response.

and we are thinking our audience feedback/take-away would correlate with the system, somehow measuring which sources impact our audience the most

M: an arduino would allow our installation to be interactive with conductive materials, paired with more tactilely inviting
materials, such as soft textiles

B: heres a video, to give you an idea of how the people can create a circuit for interaction resulting in sound

B: what does that mean?

M: these were some of our initial ideas, but we decided that we needed a visual system that defined what we were trying to
communicate more clearly

B:So we came to two more specific ideas(click)

One being an installation that is more concise and relies on touching the installation itself

M: (click) and second the form of the installation is longer, making users collaborate

thanks
