The Official Group for Nerf Wars in 2015.

These are the rules for now, adjustments will be made as

needed.
MHS Nerf Wars 15
Goal: Eliminate as many players possible on the other team by shooting them with a toy or blow dart
gun before the round is up. Nerf Wars are meant to be fun. Play fair and be a good sport, we hope to
have the best year yet.
Games: We cannot Settle Disputes. We can only help interpret them. Teams must use their best
judgment. Feel free to contact us with questions or disputes, but we may not always be able to help.
DO NOT call us and tell us you eliminated someone, tell your teammates. All we need to know is who
won the round.Nerf Wars is played with integrity. If you get hit youre out. Do not try to lie and cheat,
that makes the game no fun. Just accept it and then try to help your other team mates on locating your
other opponents.
Teams:Teams are made up of 5 players that are high school age and live in Mason. They can go to a
different school but must have a mason zip code, depending on how close to mason they live there may
be exceptions. Everyone is in 9th to 12th grade, no exceptions.
Rules:1. The darts must be made of Styrofoam. The head of it can be made of any type of plastic or no
head, THE HEAD OF THE DART MAY NOT BE MODIFIED IN ANY WAY. NO discs or balls, ONLY DARTS. No
throwing of darts or propelling them by any other means than a valid gun2. Guns may not be altered in
any way. No painting or coloring them or fixing them to make them shoot farther or better. Use the
guns as they are bought. (You can put your name on them).3. Darts must be shot out of something. NO
THROWING of darts or propelling them by any other means than a valid gun. You may use a blow dart
gun or PVC pipe. YOU MAY NOT PAINT THE PVC PIPE EITHER4. Your body is considered anything you are
holding or wearing. This includes hats, jewelry, backpacks, if you are holding a basketball, etc. Obviously
if you are touching a building of some kind and the building gets shot it does not count.5. No physical
contact. You may not go tackle your opponent and then shoot him. No stealing guns(Do not even touch
a persons gun if they aren't on your team, it is their personal property), if you do you are out No
pushing, holding, tackling, punching, etc.6. Shots may not bounce. Once the dart hits something it is
dead. No ricochets.7. If you are shot or you shoot someone the kill needs be acknowledged by both
teams in some way.8. Eliminated players may not shoot the opposing team or act as a shield for them. If
they intentionally block an opposing teams dart from hitting one of their players, that player is
eliminated. Just walk away until the battle is over.
ANY BREAKING OF THE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE INDIVIDUAL BEING OUT. IF A TEAM HAS MULTIPLE
RULES BROKEN BY DIFFERENT PLAYERS IN THE SAME ROUND, THAT TEAM IS DISQUALIFIED AND WILL BE
PLACED IN THE LOSERS BRACKET. IF THEY ARE ALREADY IN THE LOSERS BRACKET THEY ARE OUT FOR
GOOD.
Regulations:9. Players may not be shot on any school grounds, this includes, school parking lots, school
owned property, BUSES ARE INCLUDED, bus stops are school owned property however you may shoot
them AFTER THEIR BUS LEAVES, you may not be in the intersection of where the bus stops. If you plan
on shooting someone after they get off a bus, hide down the street, just not in the intersection and wait
till the bus leaves to chase them. The back pool lot or softball lot CORWIN NIXON IS INCLUDED, and the

community center and its lot.10. Players may not be shot while working and you may not shoot
someone while you are working. You must be in the building and actually working. You may get shot
while leaving or going to work. YOU HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE OF YOUR STORE TO BE SHOT or if you are
outside on your break. Staying inside on your break will keep you safe. If you work outside you must be
on the job or you can be shot and you may not be shot on your break unless you leave the property. If
you work at the mall you are only safe in the store you work at.11. Players may not be shot while
participating in an organized sport or practice. This includes any school sport, any other baseball or
softball team, AAU basketball, club soccer, etc. This means they cannot be shot while they are in the
building they are playing in or field. You may be shot on the way to your car; same rule applies as if you
were leaving work. Playing basketball in the driveway with your friends does NOT count as an organized
sport.12. Common sense applies with other rules that are not mentioned specifically in this document,
do not do anything that would harm anyone's property ex.....dart guns, back packs, coats, cars,
whatever. Be smart. When a player is shot they are dead, dead players are not allowed to touch, block,
or do anything to harm or help another team(physically), or even your own team.13. Opening car doors
and anything to do with cars is ILLEGAL14. Your roster may not change throughout the game. So the
roster you gave us is the roster you play with the whole season, no exceptions. If someones name is
intentionally misspelled when the roster is turned in there may be consequences.15. MATCHES ARE
STARTED AT 12:01 AM MONDAY MORNINGS AND END AT MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY. We do not play on the
weekends.16. NO PARENTS. Parents can move a car out of the garage for you to get in safely, etc. They
CANNOT help you get kills. Absolutely no parents going on other peoples property trying to lure out the
other team.
ANY REGULATIONS VIOLATED WILL MEAN THE SHOT DOESN'T COUNT.
ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLY TO NONPLAYING PEOPLE AS WELL, THEY CAN'T DO SOMETHING
THAT IS ILLEGAL TO PLAYERS IN ORDER TO HELP OUT A TEAM. (i.e. they can't open a player's car door
for someone on the opposing team, just like a player can't open an opponents car door) IF THIS
HAPPENS THE SHOT THAT RESULTS WILL NOT COUNT
Ties: UPDATEDAll ties are going to be settled on Sunday. Both teams can meet at Corwin Nixon between
3pm and 6pm. Ties are going to be settled with a 5 on 5 shootout. It does not matter if players have
already been shot during the week. If someone on your team cannot make it, then it will be a one
person advantage to the other team. If two people on the other team cant make it their will still only be
a one player advantage (this insure that teams are committed and a worse team does not just take their
chances in a 1 v 1 shootout) If someone is missing for a serious reason such as a funeral or accident we
will work it out and make the shootout even otherwise all 5 players should try to make it. It will take
place in the woods near the back. Dress appropriately. Everyone will meet in the parking lot including
myself, another commissioner or neutral party. Then we will walk to the woods and teams will take
sides. I will be the judge of who gets shot and what is legal. This is a fun way to actually decide who
wins. It's Nerf Wars, not coin flip wars. if a team does not show up to play or avoids contact with the
other team after gameplay ends on Friday it's considered a loss and youre done.
Getting Shot: A valid shot is hitting the person anywhere on the body. If a person is holding something,
like an object, it is considered part of them. (Ex. A back pack, gun, coat, bill of hat, basketball, etc.). If a
dispute cannot be settled, the players involved are out. (Ex. Jon thinks he shoots Dick, Dick doesn't think
he was shot.it cannot be determinedboth players are out.) No shields allowed. People can help

that are not affiliated with any team involved, as long as there is no physical contact If a person is
touching a large object, it is not considered a part of them. (Ex. Trees, cars, bushes, mail boxes.).
YOU CANT GET SHOT IF: Boys: Whitey Tighties, or speedo. Girls: Bra and Thong, or bikini. For Speedo
and bikini you must be in the vicinity of a pool, hot tub, slip n' slide, etc. NO sports bras. The rules are
very strict, no other clothing can be worn other than a hat, shoes, socks, etc. You can't get shot or shoot
anyone.
Other no play "zones" are: The High School may be used as a base. If youre in an outside activity such as
a music lesson, job interview, or some type of rehearsal (these must be officiali.e. Just playing a game
with your friends doesnt count). But as soon as its over youre fair game. AS SOON AS YOU CLOCK OUT
FROM WORK THEN YOU ARE ABLE TO BE SHOT(Do not leave work without clocking out and call
someone to clock you out, if you are leaving work you can get shot) Cutting grass or doing yard work
doesnt count as a valid "free zone". Family functions are fair game. No going into peoples house
unless allowed in by a parent, immediate family member, or person who is currently living at the house.
(I.e. you cant go in their garage or open it, unless invited). That sucks but thats the rule. Porches,
Decks, and peoples yards AREN'T considered in the house but the law still applies, legal action may be
taken. You may shoot people at or inside their house as long as you are outside of their house. (I.e.
someone is in their garage and you shoot them). Be considerate of peoples property, and dont be
SKETCHY. No shooting can take place at church. The person can be shot as soon as they leave the
building. Same goes for Young Life. If they are outside after its over they can be shot.
GAME PLAY NEVER STOPS. There are no truces or timeouts by opposing teams. We are the only ones
who can call timeouts or truces, when we feel it is necessary, but it will more than likely never happen. If
a member of the other team try's to bargain with you and call a timeout don't listen, even if it is an
emergency (unless you trust him that well). Just shoot them and they are out.Removal from the game:
Players may be removed from the game if we feel that a major violation of one of the rules has been
committed. Each infraction will be analyzed individually by us and judged upon. Our decision is final. Any
further arguing or complaining may result in the disqualification of your team.RULES CAN BE CHANGED
AND MODIFIED IF WE DEEM IT NECCESSARY, ONLY AFTER A ROUND. WE WILL INFORM YOU ON ANY
CHANGES. THE ONLY REASON THIS WE WILL EVER DO THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PLAYERS.
Advice:Be safe: The most important thing that you should be aware of is safety. The safety of you and
the persons around you. The last thing we want is for someone to get hurt. It would ruin the fun. Don't
do anything stupid like drive down the street going 100 mph waving a dart gun out the window of your
car. If you are going to do something that puts yourself into danger, don't play. There is no need to
speed in a car. If you obey the speed limit you will still make it to the place you are going, I don't know of
anyone who was shot because they were going to slow. Nerf Wars is not won by speed and intensity; it
is won by patience and persistence.
Blocking people in with your car is breaking a law, it can also be considered kidnapping. Dont let it
happen. Its really a lame strategy any way cause nine times out of ten the person just sits in their car
and waits. Be creative, stake out your opponents homes find out where they work, catch them by
surprise. When you have the element of surprise, you odds are always greater that you will survive.
The winning team isn't going to be the people that drove the fastest and gave the most lawn jobs. The
winners are the ones that had the best tricks and strategies. If you surround some ones house and the

person doesn't come out for a while, chances are they aren't coming out so there is no need to stand
around until the neighbors call the cops. If youre unsure about a situation, then don't stick around
there.
Know the law; the game of Nerf Wars does not protect you from being arrested. Legal action can and
will be taken in certain situations. Be smart and be careful. We can and will kick you out if we deem it
necessary.
By participating in Nerf Wars you are agreeing to waive all liability on the part of the commissioners and
their parents of Nerf Wars. We are not responsible for any of your actions while participating in these
activities. You agree to use your best judgment in situations. Also by joining you are stating, (if you are
under 18) that your parents are aware, and approve of your involvement in the Nerf Wars Game. You
agree to this when you sign up and turn in your money.
