SCOPE
This document concerns Technip France.

PURPOSE
The document provides detailed instructions for using Acrobat Standard V8.1.2 & 8.1.3 GB to produce PDF
1.6 for the SHTOKMAN Project (cf. EDMS Prodom V2.1 requirements).
It concerns the PDF conversion from mainly the following software:
Microsoft Office 2003 suite:

WORD 2003,
EXCEL 2003,
POWERPOINT 2003,
ACCESS 2003,
VISIO 2003.

And CAD software:

Autocad,
Microstation,
Etc..

Note: for all other projects, the Technip standard is still unchanged, i.e. PDF 1.4.

PDF BUILDER VIRTUAL PRINTER : IMPORTANT NOTICE

Be aware that the virtual PDF Builder printer must not be used for the Shtokman Project, because it
generates files in format PDF 1.4 which is not compatible with Company EDMS Prodom V2.1.

CONFIGURATION OF THE MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE

Before being able to generate PDF 1.6 files, it is necessary to configure each of the Microsoft Office software.
As an example, let us consider Word 2003 :
Open WORD 2003
Click on tool bar on Adobe PDF / Change Conversion Settings

To display the following window :

Click on the arrow right to the field Conversion Settings and change from Standard to 9990J-STORM:

Click OK
Word 2003 is now configured to convert Word files to PDF 1.6.
Redo these steps for each other Office 2003 software:

Excel 2003
PowerPoint2003
Access 2003
Visio 2003

MAKING PDF 1.6 FROM OFFICE 2003 SOFTWARE

There are two ways to create PDF files.

Using PDF Maker by clicking on Adobe PDF visible in the Office tool bar

Adobe PDF needs to be configured with settings 9990J-STORM by clicking on Change Conversion Settings
as follows:

MAKING PDF 1.6 FROM CAD SOFTWARE

CAD software concerns mainly :

Autocad,
Microstation,

It is necessary to configure Acrobat Distiller 8, available in the list of programs installed on your workstation.
Acrobat Distiller appears in the list of software by clicking on All Programs / Acrobat Distiller 8 (see below).

This leads to the display of the following window:

Choose the joboptions 9990J-STORM as follow:

By default the Default Settings field is set to Standard. Choose the settings 9990J-STORM. Then save it
by clicking on File / Exit.

HOW TO VERIFY THE FORMAT OF A PDF GENERATED FILE

For the Shtokman project, before sending any PDF file, you have to ensure that this file has been generated in
PDF 1.6 format.
While the document is displayed on the screen, click on the File / Properties option. As it is on the window
below, check that the PDF Version is 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x).

MAKING PDF 1.4 FOR ALL OTHER STANDARD TECHNIP PROJECTS

When working on a project other than Shtokman, you must return to the STANDARD Conversion Settings,
which allow to generate PDF 1.4 files.

Open the pdf in the mail after scan to mail with copier
And then do File / Print

And choose the printer: Adobe PDF as bellow:
