TERMS OF SENTENCE THAT GOOD and communicative

A. TermS Sentences Good and

Communicative

Communication is the process of delivering a message from the speaker to the listener
by means of oral and written language. Communicators or speaker convey information
through sentences that are considered to explain the purpose to be disclosed. These words
must be understood by the listener will get a response in the form of an answer or respond
accordingly. To achieve good communication and smooth, the sentence should be delivered
effectively and communicative.

Good sentence must meet the following requirements.

(1) Do not deviate from the rules of language
(2) Logical or acceptable reason
(3) is clear and can convey the exact meaning or message

Sentences that do not deviate from the rules of the language means that the sentence carefully
both in terms of the choice of words and word formation and sentence composition meets the
correct syntax rules. Conversely, sentences that deviate from the rules of the language, the
composition of the sentence is not in accordance with the rules of correct syntax.
Example:
1. In the above schedule shows ArgoLawu executive train departs at
17.00 from Gambir.
2. For the menitip motorcycle must be locked.
3. The have a cell phone should be turned off.

The above sentence although it is understood but seem odd to hear. In the first sentence
was nothing less syntactically. Position the subject is not there because the use of the word
duty "on". If the word "the" is omitted, it would seem more appropriate. The use of the word
duty "for" in the second sentence is also not in place and do not need to because the real
question is a motorcycle that is deposited, not people. The second sentence implies that the

deposited is the owner of a motorcycle or a person. Similarly, in the third sentence, which is
turned off is not the owner's HP HP. Improvements in the above sentence is:
1.Jadwal above shows the train departing executives at Argo Lawu
17.00 from Gambir.
2.Sepeda motors are entrusted to be locked.
3. The have HP to turn off his cell phone.

Sentences should also be able illogical logical or by reason. Although grammatically

accordance with the rules, but if not logical, the sentence will not be understood properly
when passed on to others.
Example:
1.Anak-boy was eager to eat the trees.
2. This is a free parking area.
Here 3.Di registration place illiterate.

The third sentence above any reason. The first sentence clearly unreasonable. Common
sense, no man is eating trees because trees are the overall understanding of tree roots and
stems to the leaves. Said trees can also be interpreted many trees. Although the structure of
the sentence is true because there is a subject, predicate, and object, but in a certain sense
does not make sense. The second and third sentences are also imprecise. Definition of free
parking should be the same as the free drugs, free pedicab, and duty-free, which means the
area is no longer the drug, rickshaw, or levies. But the sense of free parking why so may park
without paying. The third sentence meant for those who are illiterate in order to register in
this place to get teaching. Understanding the above sentence is the register to be illiterate.
Repair sentences above, namely:
1.Anak-boy was busy collecting trees.
2. This is a free parking area or parking should be free.
Here 3.Di place a package course registration for the illiterate.

Good sentence should also contain a clear understanding, not confusing and does not
give rise to multiple or ambiguous interpretations. Not a few others we encounter sentences

uttered by speakers of the language contains a double sense. This sentence in addition can
also lead to confusing responses or responses that do not comply because not
tersampaikannya message correctly.
Example:
1. I see the behavior of the child was confused.
2.They escorted the funeral procession to the cemetery.
3. All students new faculty to gather in the Senate chamber.

The third sentence above ambiguous. The first sentence contains two meanings, can my
child confused or puzzled. If the children are confused, disoriented word must get affixes to
late into confusion. If I were confused, confused words should be after my word. Repairs
there are two variants, namely:
1a. I am puzzled by the behavior of the child.
1b. I saw the boy's confusion.

The second sentence means that ushered many bodies. The phrase implies plural
iringiringan bodies. So the sense of the second sentence is they deliver a lot of bodies to the
graveyard. Is it true? Actually the word means motorcade was not directed at the corpse, but
the escorts so that the real meaning is that they drove the mourner to the cemetery. And even
more clear if the word escort removed. The fix is as follows:
2a. They drove the bodies to the graveyard.
2b. They accompany the remains to the cemetery.

The third sentence can lead to misunderstandings because the question is a new
student or students new faculty. New predicate addressed to the student or the faculty. Repairs
there are two variants, namely:
3a. All new students in the faculty in order to gather in the Senate chamber. or
3b. All students at the new faculty to gather in the Senate chamber.

B. Communicative sentence, but not Meticulously

In the communication process we often encounter words written or spoken not too
ignore grammatical or ungrammatical. That is, the possibility of a sentence in the preparation
of many errors or less accurate, but can be understood because it is already accustomed to be
heard or spoken. Still, the sentence does not guarantee the inaccuracy preparation for
effective communication. Therefore, we must understand the criteria to inaccurate sentence.
Inaccuracy sentence can be evaluated from the following several aspects.

1. Incomplete elements
An incomplete sentence if its elements are the elements especially should there be
meaningless. In the sentence, there are at least two elements, namely the subject and
predicate. Sentences should have an element of the job and are expressly not revealed in a
sentence becomes ambiguous.
Example:
a.Dilengkapinya library with a collection of teen books make
increasing the school library patrons.
(This sentence does not explain who complete the library. That is,
This sentence does not include the culprit or the subject of the sentence.)
b.Dengan excited Pak teachers told his children that
they can take lessons.

This sentence is not complete on the object. It what diceritakanoleh perpetrators are not
listed or described. If any structure is maintained, so as not to overlap, which is the word tells
transitive verb intransitive converted into storytelling). Repair the sentence is:
a.Dilengkapinya library with a collection of teen books by the principal
increased the visitors make the school library.
b.Dengan excited Pak teacher told her students that they
can take lessons.

2. Inaccurate placement of elements

Sentences are not exactly top notch elements make the sentence can not be understood
or difficult to understand.
Example:
a.Petani before sugar import policy of the government, never
a loss of up to tens of millions of dollars.
b.Setelah he and his wife got a constant terror, immediately report to
the police.

The second sentence seems a bit unusual because there are inaccuracies placement of
one element of the sentence. If you notice, the blame lies with the farmers said that should be
placed after the clause information before any sugar import policy of the government.
Similarly, the second sentence, the word or subject he and his wife should be placed on the
parent sentence immediately reported to the police.
Consider the following improvement.
a.Sebelum no sugar import policy of the government, farmers never
a loss of up to tens of millions of dollars.
b.Setelah terrorized constantly, he and his wife to report to
the police.
Consider again the example below:
c. Then I will give shortcomings after the work is completed.
d. So, we have a success this election year.

The second sentence is too awkward. Description aspects such as will, not, have, still,
medium, and so should not be inserted in a passive verb form a close bond between the
subject verb.
Consider the following repairs:
c. Furthermore, I will give shortcomings after the work is completed.
d. So, should we sukseskan election this year.

3. The use of the elements of the sentence excessive

Inaccuracy sentence can also be seen from the use of excessive sentence elements.
Excessive elements that can be use the same word meaning or the use of the word
unnecessary tasks.
Example:
a.Para mothers are following a healthy life extension and clean.
b.Di in the body there is a lot of harmful viruses.
c.Remaja should be aware of the dangers of drugs.
d.Bagi students who complete the event pensi please immediately contact the committee.

The first and second sentences in the case of excessive usage of the word and many
that show the meaning plural. So, the next word does not need to be repeated. The third and
fourth sentences do not need to use the word and the task will be. Thus, the correct sentence
is:
a. The mothers are following a healthy life extension and clean.
b. In the body there are many dangerous viruses.
c. Teens need to know the dangers of drugs.
d. Students who complete the event pensi please immediately contact the committee.

4. Choice of words is not right

Ineffectiveness or inaccuracy preparation of a sentence can also be caused due to
improper choice of words. It can be influenced by everyday language or foreign language
influences.
Moreover, ignorance of the meaning of a word causing improper use of the word.
Example:
a.Kepada ever to this mountain will definitely feel the chill in the air here.
b.Kenikmatan homemade noodles electrify the surrounding residents.
c.Rumahnya own large compared neighbors' homes.

The first sentence there is a mismatch between the words and never will. The word
never showed already done, contrary to the will of new or have not experienced. Supposedly

words will be replaced with already. Next to the word should also be eliminated. The second
sentence says inaccuracies in appallingly. This word has a negative connotation which means
panic. Whereas pleasure is a pleasure and in this case relates to the affairs of flavor. Thus, the
proper phrase is amazed. The third sentence is a big word itself influenced dewe big local
language, the right is the greatest. Thus, improvement.
a.Mereka ever to this mountain would have felt the cold air
here.
b.Kenikmatan homemade noodles fascinate surrounding residents.
c.Rumahnya most large compared to neighbors' homes.

C. Sentence Conscientious, but not Communicative

Sentence delivered by the speaker verbally or in writing, the author may have been in
accordance with the rules of the language, but if the delivery is not straightforward and solid,
can complicate the communicant to understand. A sentence may have been careful
formulation but not communicative. This can happen due to the following matters.

1. The sentence is too broad or complex shaped compound sentence.

Sentences that are too broad or long can obscure the true meaning of the sentence.
Although the formulation does not infringe the rules of grammar, but because of the word
which is used a lot and branched, may cause the message it contains so can not be captured in
their entirety.
a.Karena in the curriculum subject areas Indonesian got nowhere
the top based on the allocation of time devoted to language learning
Indonesia, which is 8 hours of lessons a week, while for the field of study
others range from 2 to 6 hours a week, Indonesian lessons
considered very important in order to achieve the national education

b.Bahasa Indonesia, by the Youth Pledge on October 28, 1928 recognized
as the national language is used in all of Indonesia, in areas

background of different linguistic, cultural, racial, and in

layers of different communities also educational background.

Two examples of the above sentence is wide or long sentence because there are clauses
expansion of subject and predicate. Sentence description is too broad it difficult to digest if
given orally, and also to be read more than once to understand it in writing. Sentences can be
shortened in order to more easily and quickly understood in the following form.
a. In the curriculum, field of study Indonesian gets the top spot,
ie 8 hours of lessons a week, while for other fields of study ranged
2 to 6 hours a week. Therefore, Indonesian lesson considered

tribe, and society different educational background.

2. Sentence detailed but general sense already known

The possibility of long sentences tend to be loaded with detailed explanations. However,
sometimes a sentence can be long because it uses information that is not necessary. Such
information is generally known by the listener or reader. In other words, the explanation can
be replaced with an equivalent but more efficient.
Example:
This a.Hari, Rudi using short collar shirt with ordinary people wear
to pray in the mosque.
b.Andi incorporate air into a bicycle tire so the tire can return
run.
The above sentence is too long and not effective. The second sentence above can be replaced
with the following sentence.

This a.Hari, Rudi wear koko.

b.Andi bicycle tire pump to be able to walk again.

3. Sentence illogical
Sentence carefully delivered communicative also can not because it is not logical.
Sentences like this can lead to misinterpretation, giving rise to a different understanding and
responses.
Example:
a.Dengan grateful to God Almighty, finished
this paper.
2nd best b.Pemenang will get a shopping voucher worth 2 million dollars.
The first sentence is illogical because it is not possible to express gratitude to God Almighty
can make the paper is finished. The second sentence is not logical at the best word. The best
meaning of the word is most excellent, so there is no second best.
The above sentence may be fixed:
a.Penulis grateful to Almighty God for the work
This can solve the authors write. Or Praise be to God Almighty
because I can finish this paper.
