The (Funny) Book of Love

Noreen Capili, as some know her as Noringgai, is a successful writer of

several TV series, author of some books and a hit blogger. She is on her
thirties and yet she becomes part of most of our teenagers nowadays. Most
of her writings are about relationships, romance and life. Her works are said
to be with humour but at the same time with pain and lessons in life.
Just like many of us, she lived her life as simple as possible. She is the
youngest of four siblings of Celestino Capili and Editha. She spent her
childhood in her birth place in Parang, Maguindanao but due to armed in
conflict they are forced to move in Davao last 1980. After she graduated in
high school, she moved to Manila to study in University of the Philippines
Diliman majoring in Creative Writing. She started her career as a realtor, but
its such a failure that she didnt event sell a single house or lot.
Her next careers are focused mostly in writing, but she writes for
others in exchange of a regular income. Until one day, she attended
workshops on comedy writing at ABS-CBN which is led by the veteran TV and
movie director Jose Javier Joey Reyes. Fortunately, she was handpicked to
write sitcoms for the said network. It was a dream come true for her because
since young she already longed to do movies like the works of Reyes. She
wants to see her name on TV and let other people see it specially her family
and friends and be proud on her.
Now, shes a full-time writer of ABS-CBN and maybe weve seen some
of her works such as Idol, Sabel, My Binondo Girl and many others. Just
recently, she wrote the telenovela Aryana, Mira Bella and more than 30
episodes of Wansapanataym. Writing for TV series is not only what shes
busy of but shes only making time to post on her blogs. She used Noringai
as a blog name to just merely share her works to others without knowing her
true identity. But, since her blogs are hit to many, she was also discovered
and was even made famous.
Most of her creative writings are stories drew on both the side-splitting
laughter and the silence-inducing sadness of her own and her friends
experiences. Since, most Filipinos are really romantic and most of us love to
watch and read romance and anything about relationships, she becomes a
hit. Most of her fans and followers are mostly teenagers and college
students.
Despite of all the success she experienced, she also went through
challenging and life-changing incident. She went through a medical crisis
which she thought was because of her not so healthy lifestyle. She was in a
coma for three days and was informed by the doctor that her aneurysm
ruptured and that she needs to undergo surgery. After those incident, she

started living a healthier life and that she realized to value life and to make
the most out of it.
Aside from seeing her name on screen, she also dreamed of writing her
own book. So amidst all adversities, she was able to publish her first book
last September of 2013 entitled Parang Kayo Pero Hindi. This book covers
10 years of Capilis life from the food she ordered to more provocative
incidents. Then, it will be followed by a release her second book which have
the title, Buti Pa Ang Roma May Papa. People who worked with her said
that her works are extraordinary because they carry humour with quiet pain
and that they are friendly and easy read. She captures the heart of young
female readers and even the other scope of readers. Most of the readers
could easily relate to the stories because most are usually aspirational and
confessional. Her third dream is to write movies and fortunately odds are on
her favour.
Inspite of writing inspiring romantic stories, she confessed that her
lovelife is not that colourful as of the moment as compared before maybe
because men are scared to take chance on her. But, she said that she was
able to write those stories not because she doesnt have but because she
have been through it and shes sharing it to others. She lived her life
worthwhile doing what she wants and giving inspiration to others.
