Background of the study

In the 21st Century, it is common that everyone has a phone so that they can get in
touch to someone anytime they want or you can play games on it while waiting for
someone or something. However the lifetime of a cellphone battery is only around
8-12 hours with moderate usage. This thus became inconvenient to people who
have no time to charge their phones on their home. Thats why some people bring
their wall charger to their office or other places to charge since some of their time is
only wasted thru slacking.

Statement of the problem

This investigatory project deals with the efficient of the Rechargeable Portable USB
charger to the charger that people commonly use

Objectives
The main objective of this project is to know if the Rechargeable Portable USB
charger is really convenient like the wall phone charger.

Significance of the study

Charging while walking or in the bus can be really helpful to you because it helps us
to preserve our time instead of waiting to charge your phone since you forgot to
charge it. It helps us in emergency time when accident occurs and your phone
battery is dead. You can charge it outside and just wait for a couple of minutes and
you can call for help.

Delimitation of the study

Although you can almost bring it anywhere you go, it doesnt change the fact that
you still need to charge it when you got home. Some factors affects that if the
battery is prolonged used in a long period of time, the life of the battery decreases
since the chemical reaction that reacts to the graphite anode it decreases when it
charges.

Review of related literature

Power bank is a device used to put energy into a secondary cell or rechargeable
battery by forcing an electric current through it. The charging protocol depends on
the size and type of the battery being charged. Some battery types have high
tolerance for overcharging and can be recharged by connection to a constant
voltage source or a constant current source; simple chargers of this type require
manual disconnection at the end of the charge cycle, or may have a timer to cut off
charging current at a fixed time. Other battery types cannot withstand long highrate over-charging; the charger may have temperature or voltage sensing circuits
and a microprocessor controller to adjust the charging current, and cut off at the
end of charge. A trickle charger provides a relatively small amount of current, only
enough to counteract self-discharge of a battery that is idle for a long time. Slow
battery chargers may take several hours to complete a charge; high-rate chargers
may restore most capacity within minutes or less than an hour, but generally
require monitoring of the battery to protect it from overcharge

Plug the Soldering Iron in the

Electric socket and melt the
soldering lead to the wires (red)
(red) and (black) to (black) to
USB socket. Or if you dont have
soldering iron. You could just
entwine the wires red to red and
black to black. But it is highly
recommended that you should
the soldering iron because it will
help the wire to hold firmly.

3.

Now that the charger is ready. We

should check the voltage to test
the efficiency of the product. Or
you could just use the product.
The Voltage is 5.87 DC

4.

We used the Samsung Tab 2 to test

the efficiency of the product
starting to 10%.

5. After One hour of charging. The battery rises

from 10% to 25%

Observations
When we charged the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. We noticed that it is relatively slower
than an ordinary charger because one hour of charging it in an ordinary charger
gives it an additional 30% of battery. While one hour of charging it using the
Portable USB Charger gives only an additional 15% of battery, making it useless for
long term charging considering that the Portable Charger has only 6 volts of battery.

Analysis of Data

Portable Charger isnt recommended as an alternative charger. It is only

recommended to be used as a substitute charger due to its weak charge. But we
noticed that when it is charged from the portable charger, the operating time is
longer than the usual limit that an ordinary charger can give. In other words, the
Portable charger can be used to have longer operating time while an ordinary
charger can only be used when you want to charge it faster.

Generalization
Overall, the battery of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 increased from 10% to 25%. The
Output voltages of the product from the battery initially were 5.87 DC. When left
One hour to charge it Drop to 5.04 DC. Meaning that every hour the Tablet was
charge. It will drop to .83 DC Volts.

Recommendation
This is not really intended to beat the products of power banks. This is initially built
for emergency purposes where you will not wait for your power banks to charge
first. For example when you are lost in the road where there is no one for you to
request assistance. Then you are really in trouble. But if you can make this DIY
Charger. It can save you a lot of trouble.
