During the visit, SRSG Kay met H.E. Ahmed Madobe, leader of the IJA, to discuss political and security issues. He was also briefed by the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD) Special Envoy for Somalia, Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Affey . The President of the IJA H.E Ahmed Madobe appreciated the continued support of the United Nations towards his administration and Somalia in general. He said the deliberations had been fruitful and focused on the countrys future. The main focus of our discussions was the progress towards Vision 2016. We spoke about future prospects for Somalia and the Juba Administration, the process towards formation of a Parliament and how to have that accomplished, he said. SRSG Kay also congratulated the IJA on its recent engagement with other regional administrations and with the Federal Government of Somalia. Now it is critical to focus on accelerating federalism, the constitutional review and democratisation ahead of the end of the Federal Government's term in 2016," said SRSG Kay.
