This installation manual describes:
(1) Installation procedures for the SSA-340A
(2) Procedures for connecting optional devices
printer, VCR, etc.) to the SSA-340A

INSTALLATION CONDITIONS
The SSA-340A must not be used:
(1) near heat sources or in damp locations
(2) in environments containing flammable gases
(3) in intense electric or magnetic fields (such as locations near
transformers)
(4) near devices generating high frequencies

Grounding
The SSA-340A must be grounded using the grounding wire of the three-wire
power cable. The grounding resistance must be 100 $2 or less.
When the SSA-340A is used with units that have power supplied from
outlets other than the AC outlet provided with the SSA-340A, use the
equipotential terminal to ensure that each unit is at the same
potential.

ASSEMBLY
Mounting the Cable Arm
(1) Orientate the tip of the cable arm toward the rear of the main unit,
insert it into the arm mounting hole on the probe holder, and turn
the tip of the arm toward the front of the main unit by 180' to
mount the cable arm.

(2) Connect the connector of the probe to the connector on the main
unit. When connecting the probe, insert the probe connector into
the connector on the main unit and turn the lock handle clockwise
(NLOCK1fdirection) to secure the connector.

a. Connect the "15pin-Dsub" connector of the signal and control
cables (cable (D)) to the [B/W PRINTER] connector of the
diagnostic ultrasound system and tighten the screw to prevent
the connector from being disconnected.
b. Connect the straight-type connector of the power cable to the
AC outlet connector of the diagnostic ultrasound system.

The DIP switch for RS-232C DATA IN does not need to be set.
<2> Turn ON the main power supply SW at the upper left on the
rear.
(12) Connect the power cable to the power input of the color printer.
(13) Turn ON the power and check the functions of the printer. If
horizontal misalignment is seen on printout from the TCP7070, remove
the top cover of the printer to perform centering adjustment (refer
to the next page).
If vertical misalignment is seen on the printout, use the hand SW
supplied with the TCP7070 to perform adjustment (see below).
When the UP1850 is used, it is not necessary to adjust the display
position.

Mount the color printer on the base, being careful with regard to
the connection cables.

For the TCP-7070 (Mitsubishi), mount 4 plates (D) onto the base
with retaining screws (D) (2 each, 8 total) and then adjust the
feet of the printer to mount it.
Caution:
For the UP-1850 (Sony), mount 2 plates (E) onto the base with
retaining screws (D) (2 each, 4 total) and then adjust the feet of
the printer to mount it.

frame.

(2) Mount plate (A) on the support section at the lower portion of the
operating console of the main unit with retaining screws (A) (four).
* However, one of screws (A) must be tightened together with the
grounding wire connected to the camera.
(3) Slide the camera unit on which plate (B) has been mounted into plate
(A) mounted on the support section of the main unit and secure it
with resin-head screws (two).
* Be careful not to subject the cable to excessive stress.

(3) After completing cable connection, mount the VCR on the base of the
main unit, pass the fixing bands through plate (A) as shown in the
figure below, and secure the VCR using the bands.
*Be careful with regard to the routing of the cable.
(4) Attach the rating plate supplied on the rear or side of the main
unit.

(2) To switch the settings of the footswitch, remove the panel cover and
main panel and the knobs on the sub-panel (four) and switch the
rotary SW on the panel PWB.
For each footswitch, A and B, the settings are "1. FREEZE", "2.
PRINT A", "3. PRINT B", and "4. RECIPAUSE".

(1) Remove the knobs for hanging the cable (two), rubber cap, and
retaining screws (A) (two each) and remove the rear cover from the
main unit.
(2) Remove retaining screws (B) (four) to remove the fan plate from the
main unit.

(3) Remove retaining screws (C) (11) to remove the shield plate for the
T&R rack from the rack.

(4) Remove retaining screws (D) to remove plate (A) which connects the
PROBE-SEL-PWB and PULSER-PWB in the T&R rack.
(5) Remove the rubber cap and retaining screws (E) (eight) on the side
of the system.
(6).Pull out the PROBE-SEL-PWB on the left interior of the T&R rack and
insert the UIPS-342A.
(7) Reverse steps (1) to (5) to remount the covers.
(8) Attach the rating plate supplied on the rear of the equipment.

Remove the retaining screw to remove the clamp. When the 15"
monitor is to be mounted, also remove the monitor mounting boss.
(13) Remove the grounding terminal secured with the T&R rack retaining
screw. Retighten the rack retaining screw.

(20) Install the power shield plate and the brace in that order by
tightening the retaining screws.

Install the shield plates and the outer cover by reversing steps
(6) to (II). When the 15" monitor is to be mounted, the dedicated
top cover must be used.

Pull out the R, G, B, VD, and HD signal BNC and power cables from
the inside of the main unit.

Insert the monitor into the boss of the neck, taking care that the
cables are not disconnected.
(27) Mount the monitor rear cover by reversing step (1). For the 15"
monitor, mount the rear cover with screws at four locations on the
rear. ,
* Do not use RGB. OUT at the rear of the 10" color monitor,
since
the design makes it physically impossible.
For the 15" monitor,
mount the rear cover with screws at four locations on the rear.

(28) If the 15" color monitor is mounted, the display size (normally
12") can be switched from 12" to 15". Remove the cap of the
monitor rear cover by removing its screw to expose the monitor
rear panel, and set the slide switch on the panel. to "15" (refer
to figure 7.10-g).

(A) (2 each) to remove the rear cover from the main unit.

T&R rack.
