RE: INVITATION TO ATTEND BUSIA INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT
CONFERENCE (BIICO)
It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in an investors conference
that will take place in Busia County on 18-19 March 2015. The
conference aims to stimulate and catalyze interest in investing in Busia
the border town with potential opportunities and gateway to East Africa
Community with expanding consumer market with estimated
population of over 100 million. The conference will feature a discussion
forum on incentives for investment and various opportunities available
for investment with key sectors on: Tourism; Agriculture (crop, livestock
and fisheries); Service Industry and Industrialization.
Busia County Government in the Republic of Kenya, has open door
policy to investments that will contribute to industrialization and
productivity. In a broader context of enterprise development, the
County seeks investment opportunities that will add value, create
employment, generate income, reduce poverty and enhance
sustainable economic development. Due to increasing interests from
the private sector, the county seeks participation of well-established
entities from international, regional, national and local investors that
will make commitments, share, learn and network with public entities
and County well-wishers.
The conference will discuss Public Private Partnership (PPP) supported
by the National Government PPP Act of 2014, explore leveraging
potential and related arrangements on: Equity, Build-Own and Transfer
(BOT) and direct capital injection. The PPP will be discussed in support

of on-going initiatives, planned and programmed activities within the

County Executive Members portfolios among others.
In addition, to the conference, there will be an Exposition Pavilion with
leading products and services organized in parallel with the conference
to introduce a wide range of products and services available in the
County and show case the Countys investment potential. There will be
a one day follow-up meeting with committed investors and members of
the diasporas on 21st March 2015 in Nairobi. Information to this event
will be provided accordingly.
