AIM & OBJECTIVES

AIM & OBJECTIVES

As bSSs members are mainly from across the local AEC
industry, as a neutral organization it is deemed to be suitable to
perform accreditation role.
Aim
bSS to be an accreditation body for Individuals and Companies
to be certif ied to a recognised BIM competency level, in order to
promote adoption and application of BIM in the local AEC
industry.
Objectives
To maintain a registry of BIM cer tif ied Individuals and
Companies
To track and moderate local BIM standards and competency
levels and maintain a sustainable BIM -eco system .
Assist in getting the Construction Industry BIM ready by Year
2015*
To gain mutual recognition with similar accreditation bodies

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL
CERTIFICATION

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
BIM PROFESSIONAL - TRAINER
Recognized BIM course; and
Recognized Relevant Degree (Building related); and
5 years relevant experience; and

Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment ( ACTA) or

equivalent certification
OR

Minimum 1 year as a Trainer for recognised BIM courses

To maintain individual level BIM Accreditation status, they will be
subjected to sur veillance cycle of once in 2 year s by bSS. Individual is
also required to provide proof as a trainer in recognized BIM courses OR
involved in Building Projects with the use of integrated (multi-discipline)
BIM.

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
BIM PROFESSIONAL - CONSULTANT
Recognized BIM course; and
Recognized Relevant Degree (Building related); and
5 years relevant experience;

OR

As a BIM consultant for minimum of 3 companies/projects

Show evidence that they have executed building projects
with the use of integrated(multi-discipline) BIM.

To Maintain individual Level BIM Accreditation status, they will be

subjected to surveillance cycle of once in 2 years by bSS.
Individual is also required to provide proof of executing Building
Projects with the use of integrated (multi-discipline) BIM.

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
BIM MANAGER
I.

Recognized Relevant Degree (Building related) with 5 years

relevant experience ;
OR

II.

Recognized Relevant Diploma (Building related) with 10 years

relevant experience

AND
Relevant document showing proof (e.g. BIM e-submission, etc)
of following:
EITHER
I. Completing a building project with the use of BIM
OR
II. Completing two Non-Building project (e.g.. Office Interior and
Parks) with the use of BIM

To Maintain individual Level BIM Accreditation status, they will be subjected to

surveillance cycle of once in 2 years by bSS. Individual is also required to
provide proof as a BIM manager in Building Project with the use of integrated
(multi-discipline) BIM.

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
BIM COORDINATOR
Recognized Relevant Diploma (Building related) with 5
years relevant experience;
AND
Completed a relevant recognised BIM course: OR
Confirmation from companies that they are employed as
BIM Coordinator.

To Maintain individual Level BIM Accreditation status, they will be

subjected to surveillance cycle of once in 2 years by bSS.
Individual is also required to provide proof of involvement of
Building Project with the use of integrated (multi-discipline) BIM.

COMPANY LEVEL
CERTIFICATION

BIM ENABLED COMPANY

Minimum 1 BIM Coordinator; and
Relevant document showing proof (e.g. BIM esubmission, etc) of handling building project
with the use of integrated (multi-discipline) BIM

To Maintain Company Level BIM Accreditation status, they

will be subjected to surveillance cycle of once in 2 years
by bSS.

COMPANY LEVEL:
BIM CONSULTANCY
Minimum of one full time BIM Professional
(Consultant)

To Maintain Company Level BIM Accreditation status, they

will be subjected to surveillance cycle of once in 2 years
by bSS, showing that they are actively involved in BIM
consultancy.

COMPANY LEVEL: ACCREDITED BIM

TRAINING PROVIDER
Company to have Minimum of one full time BIM
Professional (Trainer)
Submission of Courses Outline for bSSs
vetting suitable for training BIM competency
i.e. for coordinator, manager, professional consultancy levels.
To Maintain Company Level BIM Accreditation status,
they will be subjected to surveillance cycle of once in 2
years by bSS, showing proof that the company is
actively involved in training recognised BIM courses
