Course Policy:
Grading Philosophy:

All scores are applied to both course and lab. Students will receive the same grade for course and lab.

Course grade is a way to measure the learning result based on the exams, homework assignments, hands-on projects, and case
projects. It is not a statement about your value as a person.

Grade "A" means excellent and thorough works significantly exceed standard.
Grade "B" means above average works that exceed standard.
Grade "C" means average works that meet standard.
Grade "D" means minimal works that pass, however, fall below expectation.
Grade "F" means works that fail and fall well below minimum standard.

Cheating and Plagiarism:

Cheating is to violate rules dishonestly, to practice fraud or trickery, or to get something by dishonesty or deception. Plagiarism
is to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. Two copies of same discussion board
posting, copy paste from Internet document to discussion board, and exchange information during exam or quiz are some
examples of cheating and plagiarism. Both cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in an F grade
for the course.

Assignments, Quizzes, Exams, and Hands on Exercises:

Students are able to make-up one missed in class quiz and exam within 1 week of the missed quiz or exam in class.
There will be no make-up of any Internet quizzes or assignments. To request make-up more than 1 missed in class quiz
or exam, an acceptable extreme personal necessity must be submitted with proof in writing within 1 week of the missed

quiz or exam. Students must be enrolled in my LabSim course to receive extra credit within the first 2 weeks at the
beginning of the semester.

good report and discussion board posting.
Students are expected to spend 3 to 6 hours to read and complete exercises and assignments each week. For urgent
questions, come during my office hours or send email to jgau@mtsac.edu. Generally, I will answer email within one to
two days during Mt. SAC working days.

All assignments must be given to your professor, and must contain your name, your professor's name, assignment title, and
the course title clearly printed at the top of each assignment.
Assignments are due at the beginning of class.
No late homework/lab assignment will be accepted.
All written assignments must be printed by near letter quality printer or typed.
Weekly quizzes and hands on exercises may be given unannounced. Always prepare before attending each class.

No makeup of missed in class hands-on exercises.

The MCC lab at building 17 is an open lab. There are no scheduled classes in the center. Therefore, you may use the lab any
time when it is open. It is your responsibility to find out the open hours of the lab (594-5611 EXT. 4600).

Attendance, Pager and Cellular Phone:

Students are expected to be on time and attend all classes. Acceptable extreme personal necessity and illness must
submit the request in writing with proof to eliminate any penalty for missed class within 1 week of the missed class.

Students are allowed to miss one class without penalty to their final grade. Missing each additional class will cause a
10% final grade deduction and make the attendance grade to 0. Arrive 10 minutes after class starting time or leave
before class dismissal is considered Tardy. Tardy twice equals to one missed class. Students must make sure they sign
the attendance sheet every week before leaving each class.
Any student missed 3 or more classes may be dropped from class by professor.

Set all cellular phone and pager to silent mode in class.

Drop Policy:
If student decides to drop the class, it is the students responsibility to complete the drop procedure. Ceasing to attend
may not drop you from class automatically.
"Incomplete" grade will be considered only if the request is submitted in writing with proof to professor within 1 week of
the missed class. It is the students responsibility to complete the incomplete request form available at business division
office.
