TG Set Capability at VWO Condition with 3% make up & 77 mm Hg
Condenser pressure:
It will be demonstrated that the Unit is capable of Running at VWO
Conditions with rated MS Pressure of 170 ata, MS Temperature of
537C, 3% make up and 77 mm Hg Condenser back pressure and
generating an Output of 525.053 MW.

1.01.00(b)

TG Set Capability with one string of HP Heater out of Operation:


This test shall be carried out for half Hour during conductance of PG
Tests to demonstrate that the unit is capable of operating continuously
under rated steam conditions at a condenser pressure of 77 mm Hg
(Abs) & 3% make up with condition of one string of HP Heater out of
service and generating a corrected output of 524.826 MW.

1.01.00(c)

TG Set Capability with both strings of HP Heater out of Operation:


This test shall be carried out for half Hour during conductance of PG
Tests to demonstrate that the unit is capable of operating continuously
under rated steam conditions at a condenser pressure of 77 mm Hg
(Abs) & 3% make up with condition of both strings of HP Heater out of
service and generating a corrected output of 515.001 MW.

1.02.00(i)

The HP and LP bypass capabilities Test:


The HP and LP bypass control system shall satisfy the following
functional requirements under automatic interlock action. It shall come
into operation automatically under the conditions of
1. Generator circuit breaker opening.
2. HP-IP stop valves closing due to turbine tripping.
3. Sudden reduction in demand to house load.
Under above conditions, while passing the required steam flows, the
condenser should be able to swallow the entire steam without
increasing the exhaust hood temperature and condenser pressure
beyond the maximum permissible valve indicated.

1.02.00(ii)

Lube Oil Purification System Capacity & Purity:


1. Lube oil purification system capacity and purity of purified oil
shall be demonstrated.
2. The flow and quality of oil shall be recorded simultaneously.
3. Purity of purified oil at centrifuge outlet shall be 15/12 as per ISO
4406 with inlet oil quality of 21/18 as per ISO 4406 and with 500
ppm moisture level at the outlet of purifier.

1.02.00(iii)a Steam Condensing Plant Temperature of Condensate at all loads:


The condensate temperature at outlet of condenser shall not be less

than saturation temperature corresponding to the condenser pressure


at guaranteed loads. This test shall be carried out along with TG PG
Test. Test instruments shall be used for this test.
1.02.00(iii)b Oxygen Content in Condensate at Hotwell Outlet:
Oxygen content in condensate at hotwell outlet shall not exceed 0.015
cc per litre (21 ppb) over the entire range of load. It shall be determined
according to caloriemetric Indigo Carmine method.

Air leakage in the condenser under full load condition:


Dry air leakage in the condenser shall not exceed 30 SCFM (i.e. 50% of
design pump capacity) under full load condition. This shall be measured
by charging the Rota meter at the exhaust of vacuum pump. This test is
carried out at full load before PG Test.

1.02.00(iii)d Capability when one half of the condenser isolated:


When one half of the condenser is isolated, the unit will be able to
generate 294 MW (60% of the load). For conducting this test, the load
shall be gradually brought down to 245 MW and then one half of the
condenser shall be isolated by keeping a close watch on all the
operating parameters. And raising the load to 294 MW.

1.02.00(iii)e Capacity demonstrated of Vacuum Pumps:


As the contract conditions can not be created at site (condenser
pressure of 25.4 mm hg (abs) and sub cooled to 4.17 C), the test shall
be carried out under site conditions and the air handling capacity of
pumps at site operating conditions shall be demonstrated by BHEL
which will be equal to or more than 30 SCFM i.e. 61 Kg/Hr of dry air.
Corrections if any shall be applied based on the correction curve
enclosed. (1 SCFM = 2.02 kg / hr. The readings shall be taken from
Rotameter installed with vacuum pumps. The extra air shall be
introduced in the system if air present in the system is less than the
pumps capacity.

Air and Vapour Mixture Temperature:


The expected value of sub cooling at 25.4 mm Hg (abs) suction
pressure will be 4.17 C.
The sub cooling values shall be saturation temperature corresponding
to back pressure less temperature of air vapour mixture measured at
already specified location on the air evacuation pipeline. This value
should not be less than 4.17 C.
The test shall be carried out along with the main PG Test. The test
instruments shall be used.

1.02.00(iii)g Condenser On Load Tube Cleaning System Under TG Package:


1. Life of Sponge balls: 3 Weeks.
2. No. of balls lost during 1000 hrs. of plant operation: 10% of total

balls.
Acceptance Criteria:
1. The guarantee of life of balls shall be deemed to be fulfilled in
case number of worn-out balls observed after 3 weeks operation
are within +10%.
2. After 1000 hrs. of TG plant operation (via 42 days), the number
of balls lost should not be more than 10% (Viz. balls recovery as
90% of total balls charged during whole of the test period.

1.02.00(iv)a Feed Water Heaters & Deaerators:


The performance of the heaters shall be demonstrated for meeting the
guarantee of TTDs and DCAs at the test conditions.
From the measured values the actual TTD and DCA values will be
calculated. The expected TTD and DCA values for the test condition will
be computed. The heaters are considered to be performing
satisfactorily if the actual TTD and DCA values are better than the
expected TTD and DCA values at the test condition.

1.02.00(iv)b Dissolved Oxygen content at Deaerator Outlet:

The Dissolved Oxygen content in feed water at Deaerator Outlet shall


be measured in the power plant laboratory by the Indigo-Carmine
method. The Deaerator is considered to be performing satisfactorily if
the measured value is less than 0.005 cc / Lt (7PPB). The test shall be
carried out before PG Test or along with PG Test.

1.02.00(iv)c Difference between Saturation Temperature of the steam entering the


Deaerator:
Difference between the saturation temperature of the steam entering
the Deaerator and Temperature of the feed water leaving the Deaerator
shall be evaluated / measured and it shall be around 0.56 C.

1.02.00(iv)d Continuous & Efficient Operation of Feed Heating Plant without undue
Noise:
Noise level measurement shall be carried out using applicable and
internationally acceptable standards. The measurement shall be carried
out with a calibrated integrating Sound Level Meter meeting the
requirement of IEC 651 or BS 5969 or IS 9779.
Sound pressure shall be measured all around the Heaters at a distance
of 1.0 m horizontally from the nearest Surface and a height of 1.5m
from the floor level in elevation.

Performance Guarantee Test of CEPs at site:

1. Each CEP shall be capable of delivering flow and total dynamic


head corresponding to Best Efficiency Point.
2. Each CEP shall be capable of delivering flow and total dynamic
head corresponding to run out point.
3. The parallel operation of any two of the three pumps shall be
demonstrated at BEP.
4. The Vibration, noise level shall be demonstrated for each pump.

Start up, Loading and Shutdown Capabilities:

1.03.00(ii)

Startup time and loading capabilities for the steam turbine from Barring
Gear upto full Load shall be demonstrated as per the start up curves for
the following conditions:
1. Cold Start Up (Shut down greater than 36 Hrs.
2. Warm Start Up (Shutdown between 8 hrs. & 36 hrs.)
3. Hot Start Up (Shut down less than 8 hrs.)
The test shall be conducted as and when opportunity arises by way of
planned or unplanned shut downs.
Sudden Total Loss of External Load:
On occasions the steam turbine generator system may experience
sudden total loss of all external load. Under these conditions, the steam
turbine generator unit shall continue in operation under the control of its
speed governor to supply for the plant auxiliary load or run without load
with HP/LP bypass in operation (in case the plant auxiliaries get power
supply from station transformer) while staying within the prescribed
permissible limits of steel metal temperature mismatch, exhaust hood
temperature, absolute and differential expansions, bearing pedestal and
absolute shaft vibrations.
At house load, if the house load operation is observed to successful,
the same shall be considered for the purpose of evaluation.
For conducting this test:
1. Maintain full load on the Unit.
2. Open out generator breaker.
3. Record maximum speed rise in TG.

Steam Metal Temperature Mis-Match Limitation:


The steam metal temperature differential for cold, warm and hot start
up, loading / unloading and shut down conditions shall be within
permissible limits.
Noise level:
Noise level measurement shall be carried out over the entire range of
output and operating frequency using applicable and international
standards. This test shall preferably be conducted prior to PG tests.
