By signing your names above, you agree to the following terms and rules in this document and
subsequent revisions. Competitors will initial all following lines stating that they have been read:

Players will adhere to and abide by ALL federal, state, and local laws, as well as the
Bloomfield Hills High School Code of Conduct. 1.____ 2.____3.____4.____
o Any team, individual member or as a whole, who engages in illegal activity that
involves breaking any of the above laws and/or codes and/or is subject in any
legal action as a result of their involvement/participation/actions in Water Wars
2015 may be subject to disqualification.
o Any team, individual member or as a whole, who mentions the names of any of
the commissioners, or the names of their family members, directly or indirectly,
to any law enforcement officer or school administrator, faculty member or official
regarding involvement in Water Wars 2015 will be disqualified.

Sid Ramanathan, Esther Yi, Lucas Rohr, and John Sack as well as their family members
will not be held accountable/liable for any illegal activity, personal injury, property
damage, or death; play at your own risk. They are not condoning any actions exhibited
by any participants. All participants are acting under their own will and motives.

The Bloomfield Hills School District is in no ways involved with the operation of Water
Wars 2015 and may not be held liable for any illegal activity, personal injury, property

damage, or death. They are not condoning any actions exhibited by any participants. All
participants are acting under their own will and motives.

Information regarding Water Wars 2015 cannot and should not be shared with any
authority figures (i.e. law enforcement officials, school district officials, school
administration, teachers, religious officials, medical personnel, parents, etc.) who may
compromise the integrity of the game.

Players will remain conscientious of others (i.e. safety, health, property, family, jobs,
business establishments, religion, etc.) and will play in a safe and legal manner,
especially in potentially dangerous situations, including, but not limited to, driving,
operation of heavily machinery, etc.

Each team will submit this completed form along with $100 per team (cash only),
regardless of number of players, to the commissioners by Friday, March 20th.

No handicap will be given for a reduced number of players.

A bracket will be made and teams will be matched up randomly.

Round length will be specified on a weekly basis.


o Typically a week will begin 12:00 a.m. on Monday and end at 11:59 p.m. on
Friday (Eastern-Standard Time according to the U.S. Naval Observatory)
o All tie breakers must held on Saturday and Sunday
o All results must be reported by Sunday before 10:00 p.m.

The first round will start Monday, March 23rd.

EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO READ THE FOLLOWING RULES.


These rules are for your physical and legal protection and to ensure that Water Wars remains
possible in years to come. Please see them in that light. Competitors will initial all following
lines stating that they have been read and that the competitors will adhere to them.
CONDUCT
1. A competitor may not enter a private residence unless granted permission of entrance by a
legal resident of said residence, either through verbal or written confirmation.
a. If a competitor is to forcibly enter a private residence in game play, they will lose
their life for that round of the competition or even disqualified (subject to
commissioners discretion).

b. If a competitor causes any physical damage to private property to the private


residence, the team will be disqualified.
2. A competitor may only enter a place that requires membership (i.e. exercise facility,
Country Club, etc.) if they are personally members, not using an unavailable teammates
membership, or if they are let in by another member or employee. If a competitor gains
entrance into one of these establishments they must abide by all rules and regulations set
by the establishment. However, public golf course are still playable, but please be mindful
of the activities of noncompeting persons.
a. Any abuse of places requiring membership for purposes of solitude or protection
,ie creating a pseudo safe zone, counts as an infraction of the rules and can lead to
the loss of a life
3. A competitor may enter privately owned enterprises (i.e. stores, restaurants, other
businesses, etc.) at their own risk. If a competitor gains entrance to a privately owned
enterprise, the competitor is responsible for their own actions within the enterprise, and
will be subject to any consequences resulting from the disregard for the rules set by the
privately owned establishment. Competitors have the option to forfeit their life if they are
confronted in a situation that would disturb the enterprise in an effort to take away ones
life in Water Wars (not ones actual life).
4. Physical contact by a third-party noncompeting member is not allowed with the intention
of scoring a point/taking a life of a competing opponent.
5. IF ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL CONTACTS ANY COMMISSIONER
REGARDING ANY ACTIONS UNDERGONE BY AN INDIVIDUAL COMPETITOR
OR A TEAM, THE MEMBER AND THE TEAM AS A WHOLE WILL BE
DISQUALIFIED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT QUESTION AND WITHOUT REFUND.
a. The commissioners are in no way liable for any actions taken by individuals or
teams
b. The commissioners will only preside over the competition and interpret the rules
to ensure fair play

Competitors MUST respect any request of a property owner while on that persons
property.

a. If a competitor is subject to legal action as a result of a competitors own personal


actions while on a privately owned property, that competitor can be subject to the
loss of their life or the disqualification of their entire team.
i. The commissioners are not legally accountable for any action a competitor
takes in the course of water wars

Competitors are not to disturb the personal items of an opponents family or of a private
property owner.
a. If a competitor is subject to legal action as a result of a competitors own personal
actions while on a privately owned property, that competitor can be subject to the
loss of their life or the disqualification of their entire team.

8. Players are not to shoot any persons or pets not directly associated with Water Wars, this
includes parents, siblings, enterprise patrons, employers, employees, innocent bystanders,
etc.
a. If a competitor is subject to legal action as a result of a competitors own personal
actions while interacting with noncompeting members of society, that competitor
can be subject to the loss of their life or the disqualification of their entire team.
b. However if a willing friend or family member is being used as a decoy, the
situation is still playable.
9. Competitors are responsible for third-party persons in support of their team. Third-party
persons are expected to respect and follow these rules. Repeated offenses of third-party
persons in support of a team can result in the loss of life and/or disqualification of that
team.
10. If a competitor is subject to legal action as a result of their own personal actions within a
privately owned enterprise/residence, that competitor can be subject to the loss of their life
or the disqualification of their entire team.
11. NO PHYSICAL VIOLENCE WILL BE TOLERATED, AND IT WILL RESULT IN
DISQUALIFICATION.
12. KIDNAPPING any participants is not to be tolerated and will result in the disqualification
of an individual member or a team.
SUPPLIES

Water Wars 2015 Waiver and Rules


1. Players may use hand-pumped water funs, garden hoses, kitchen hoses, household faucets,
water balloons, and/or buckets of water and pools
2. Players may not use, including but not limited to, fire hydrants, fire hoses, high-pressure
water guns, etc.
3. Water is the only substance that may be used as ammunition during Water Wars, hence
the name Water Wars.
4. If any competitors have any supplies (i.e. water guns, squirt guns, etc.) on their person or
in their car during the school hours, the police may be called and may remove it from their
person or car by orders of the school. Cannot hide, cover, or disguise your gun. NO
BLACK GUNS!
a. If there are any school or legal ramifications resulting for the acquisition of the
supplies during the school hours by school officials or law enforcement officials
may result in a disqualification.
5. Shields will be decided according to Commissioner approval. DM or email for further
advice.
GETTING OUT
1. A player is considered out after being shot or hit with water controlled by an opponent,
not including personal or private sprinklers, at any point on their body or on anything
adorning their body at the time of the attack. For someone to be tagged they must have
a thoroughly wet patch on their clothing or body. Please soak as best possible. Two drops
of water will NOT be enough, so make sure to soak thoroughly.
a. Once a player is out please call Water Check contact one the Commissioners at
the below phone numbers with a text message and/or a phone call, leave a
voicemail if there is no answer, or Bhhswaterwars2015@gmail.com at the next
safest, legal, and possible moment. Please include which competitor is out, which
team member got the out, where the competitor was hit (geographic location and
location on the body), what the competitor was hit with, and the time/date of the
hit.
i. In the text message, include a picture of the target area as proof of getting
the opponent out
b. It is the competitors responsibility to check their opponents for water stains.

c. Tags (getting one out) will be verified with both the tagger and tagged individual.
2. Only registered participating members of Water Wars that are on one of the competing
teams can make a tag/out.
3. Teams must call a Water Check and then report a hit to a commissioner at a below phone
number with a text message and/or a phone call, leave a voicemail if there is no answer,
or Bhhswaterwars2015@gmail.com at the next safest, legal, and possible moment. A
Commissioner will be out there shortly to verify a hit if needed. Please be honest about
these things because it will make everyones lives a lot easier. Please include which
competitor is out, which team member got the out, where the competitor was hit, and
what the competitor was hit with.
4. Regarding disputes, a Water Check will be called and both teams shall contact a
commissioner to decide forward progress. If there is a question of legitimacy of the
dispute, please contact a commissioner, who will give final say about the legitimacy of all
disputes. The commissioners words are final and cannot be overturned, unless there is
undeniable photo or video documentation, so please try to document everything you can.
Your iPhone is your friend! Treat an out like a car crash. The more evidence, the better.
CARS
1. Competitors are not allowed to attack other competitors in a vehicle while it is in motion,
this includes but is not limited to motorcycles, tractors, ATVs, golf carts, boats, etc.
a. If a competitor is subject to legal action as a result of a competitors own personal
actions while interacting with another vehicle, that competitor can be subject to
the loss of their life or the disqualification of their entire team.
b. However if the vehicle is at a standstill (example: parked in an empty lot with the
windows rolled down) its perfectly feasible and permitted for the member of an
opposing team to tag this person as out, though they are in the car.
SAFE ZONES
1. Safe Zones are places in which no water attacks can take place and all members of all
teams are safe. Some of the main save zones include Bloomfield Hills High School Main
Campus or any other Bloomfield Hills Schools owned property, Religious Facilities,
Hospitals, Gas pumps (not the entire station), Garages, etc.

a. With questions regarding what is considered a safe zone, contact one of the
commissioners below, or send an email regarding the query
2. Competitors will be safe from:
a. The time they enter their car on their way to school, at any point in the day within
school hours during the school week (from when they get in their car to go to
school until 2:30pm Eastern Time) and all school days.
b. In addition, they will be safe within the hours of school-sponsored events (i.e.
Senior Experience, sporting events, athletic practices, Prom, Student Leadership
events, club meetings, etc.) until the end of said event
c. Until the school ends on school days or at any time on school property (BHHS
Main Campus), BHHS 9th Grade Campus (Hickory Grove), Model High School
(Pine Lake), Bloomfield Hills School District Farm, and Bloomfield Hills School
District Nature Center), any Bloomfield Hills School District schools during their
school hours, and/or any federal, state, and/or local government owned municipal
building property, excluding parks.
i. This includes the commute to and from all the afore mentioned events
3. If a competitor is in their car or any third-party cars headed to school or a schoolsponsored events (i.e. Senior Experience, sporting events, athletic practices, Prom,
Student Leadership events, club meetings, etc.) then their car or third-party cars are not
allowed to be blocked in, barricaded, prevented from any type of movement on legal
roadways, private/public driveways, etc. and must be allowed to proceed to their
destination in an uninhibited, safe and legal manner.
a. Failure to comply with this rule may result in a loss of life or disqualification.
b. If a team fails to comply with this rule and the disregard for this rule results in
damage to private property, the acting member or team may be disqualified.
c. If an opposing team carries through with this offense, contact a water wars
commissioner with the time, place and parties involved in the infraction. Pictures
would be greatly recommended to corroborate the story.
4. Property owned by religious institutions is off-limits. Any religious event/function, on or
off site, already in progress is off-limits and not playable.

5. Competitors WILL NOT attack other competitors while they are at their job or any
school-sponsored event/activity (i.e. sport-related activities, Student-Leadership-run
events, Prom, etc.)
6. Competitors are safe going into their place of employment, on-site or offsite
functions/events/locations, after parking. However, competitors are not safe once they
leave their place of employment as they make their way to their means of transportation
after their time of employment is over. Babysitting counts as employment.
7. Competitors involved in sports/clubs either school-affiliated or outside-of-school are safe
before, after, and when they are playing/participating in their specific
event/competition/meeting/practice, and on their way to their specific
event/competition/meeting/practice; however, they are not safe when making their way to
their means of transportation after the specific event/competition/meeting/practice, unless
they are getting on a school or government-sanctioned means of transportation or if they
are still on Bloomfield Hills School District property (such as in rule 6 about
employment).
a. Any time related to a school sponsored event barring the return journey of the
competitor to their domicile is considered off limits. At these times, the players in
the afore mentioned events will be safe during the duration of the event and their
drive to the venue. However after the event is finished, all action not infringing on
any other rules stated in this contract is viable and considered fair play
b. If the event is away and district buses are used as a mode of transportation, the
participants of waters wars competing in these sports/activities will remain safe
until the bus drops them off at BHHS. Furthermore, upon their arrival at the
campus (after dismounting the bus), they must be granted a 30 second grace
period during which they can run to a mode of protection of their choosing
c. The school parking lot is considered a safe zone, but simply waiting in the
parking lot for extended periods of time for no school related reasons can result in
the loss of a life
8. All government-owned properties are off-limits and are not playable environments,
including but not limited to the libraries, the township offices by Andover, any police and
fire stations, the 48th District Court, JAMS drug testing facilities, etc.

EVERYTHING ELSE
1. Opposing teams will decide on a safe and appropriate tiebreaker that will be submitted to
and approved by a commissioner at a below phone number or
Bhhswaterwars2015@gmail.com. Examples include, but are not limited to, best of 3 or 5
Rock-Paper-Scissors, a game of Lightning or Knockout, coin flip by a commissioner, etc.
2. If any members choose to quit Water Wars, those members will not be refunded their
money and that team can either choose to be disqualified or that team can choose new
members who have not participated in Water Wars at any point during its commencement
and each new player has to buy in at $25 a person.
a. There is a 4 person limit per team
b. Teams can make it 5 people by paying an extra $25, but only 4 of the 5 are
eligible to play on any given week. Which 4 is up to each individual team.
3. If an individual team member is disqualified permanently from Water Wars, that team
cannot recruit a new player and will not receive extra lives. A disqualified member will
permanently affect the entire team. If a team with a disqualified member wins Water
Wars, the disqualified member relinquishes all rights to the winnings and will not be
refunded of their initial participation fee.
4. The only stoppage time in Water Wars is for Water Checks, personal injuries, or legally
dangerous situations.
a. Water Checks must be recognized by both teams and allow for the teams to check
if any team members have been hit by water.
i. A Water Check is where the teams playing against each other call for a
temporary cease fire to check if one of the players has been hit.
ii. In order to resume game play after a Water Check if person is not wet,
competitors will count aloud for 30 seconds while running away, and at
the end of those 30 seconds, the game resumes.
iii. If participants do not adhere to the acknowledged Water Checks, the
participant may lose their life for that round.
iv. If there are any disputes, contact a Commissioner.

b. If an injury does occur, teams must stop immediately and take proper action to
provide the best care for the injured member. Failure to do so will result in the
loss of ones round life and/or personal/team disqualification for either team.
5. If a competitor goes out of town, that competitors situation is put to Commissioner
discretion to decide the consequence for the player, which may result in a Commissioner
approved activity and/or the loss of round life. It is just how the cookie crumbles.
6. Refunds will be dealt based on Commissioner Discretion.
a. By signing this contract all competitors agree that they will not receive or fight for
refunds in manner, in or out of the legal system. 1.____ 2.____3.____4.____
7. By signing this contract, all competitors agree to forgo any legal action against any of the

8. Proof of physical damage must be included in all complaints, such as photo
documentation, video documentation and/or witness corroboration, and sent to a
commissioner at a below phone number or Bhhswaterwars2015@gmail.com for
verification and decisive action before the end of the current round.
9. The winning team will split the money remaining after the Commissioner fees and the
second-place team receives the return of their initial participation fee ($100).
10. THE COMMISSIONERS RETAIN THE ABILITY AND THE AUTHORITY TO
INTERPRET ANY RULES AS HE/SHE SEES FIT, AND GIVE WARNINGS FOR

11. THE COMMISSIONERS HAVE THE ABILITY AND AUTHORITY TO TAKE AWAY
A LIFE AND/OR DISQUALIFY ANY PLAYER AND/OR TEAM THAT ENGAGES IN
BEHAVIOR THAT FALLS BELOW THE LOWEST GENERAL STANDARD OF
WHAT CONSTITUTES LEGAL AND COMMON SENSE. TEAMS WILL NOT
RECEIVE A REFUND OF THEIR DUES IF DISQUALIFIED.

14. If any of the above is improperly signed, or not filled out, the team will be contacted by a
commissioner regarding the discrepancy.
Remember that Water Wars is fun because of the sportsmanship of its competitors. If you do
happen to get out do not try to argue it, complain about it, fight it, and/or do anything to stay in
the game and/or obstruct the remainder the Water Wars experience for others. If you try to do
this know that the story will come out in the end, and competitors will ultimately be eliminated
in some fashion. Do not take it personally if a ruling does not happen in your favor because all
decisions are made according to the rules. It is senior year and everyone just wants to have a
fun, legal, and safe time with their friends.
