STARTING THE PROGRAM

1. Run the CitParse executable file


2. The main menu will now appear as shown in Illustration 1.

JOURNAL MANAGEMENT
I Introduction:
1. In the main menu click on Journal Management.
2. The Journal Management Window will appear as shown in illustration 2.

3. In this menu the user can Add, Edit or Delete Journals.

II.Adding a Journal
1. In the Journal Management window click on add journal.
2. A dialog box should appear as shown in illutstration 3.
3. Fill up the textbox labeled Journal Name with the appropriate data.
4. Click on OK.

III. Deleting a journal


1. In the Journal Management Screen Click, highlight the journal that will be deleted by clicking on it.
2. Click on Delete Journal Button
3. A confirmation dialog box will pop up, click on YES.

IV. Editing a Journal


1. In the Journal Management Screen Click, highlight the journal that will be edited by clicking on it.
2. A dialog box should appear as shown in illutstration 5.
3. Fill up the textbox labeled Journal Name with the appropriate data.

4. Click on OK.

V. Add Volume
1. In the Journal Management Screen Click, highlight a journal by clicking on it.
2. Click on the Add Volume button.
3. Fill in the appropriate volume number for the volume which corresponds to the highlighted journal.
4. Click on ok.

VI. Deleting a volume


1. In the Journal Management Screen Click, highlight a journal by clicking on it.
2. Highlight the volume to be deleted.
3. Click on the Delete Volume button.
4. Click on Yes.

ISSUE MANAGEMENT
Introduction
1. Double-click on a highlighted volume in the Journal Management window.
2. The Issue Management window for that volume will now appear as shown in illustration 8.

I. Add Issue
1. To add an issue, click on add issue.
2. A form will appear in a dialog box.
3. Fill in the appropriate data such as the issue number, the month, and the year the issue was released.
4. Click on ok

II. Edit Issue


1. To edit an issue, highlight an existing issue in the issue table then click on the Edit Issue button.
2. A form will appear in a dialog box similar to the add issue dialog box.
3. Fill in the appropriate data such as the issue number, the month, and the year the issue was released.
4. Click on ok.

III. Delete Issue


1. To delete an issue, highlight an existing issue in the issue table by clicking on it.
2. Click on delete issue.
3. A confirmation box will appear. Click on yes to confirm the deletion of the selected issue.

PARSING REFERENCES
Introduction
1. To parse references from an article, in the main menu click on Parse References from Articles.
2. You will be taken to the Parsing Wizard.
3. An introduction to how the parsing wizard works will be shown.

I. Article Details
1. Fill in details about the where the references come from, such as the article title, the article's authors,
and the page the article is located.

2. To add an author just click on add author and a dialog box will be shown below.

II. Journal Details


1. Details of where the article came from such as the journal name, volume and issue will be entered in
this page.

2. After clicking on next you will be taken to the data input page. First copy the references of an article

3. Then paste to the parse data field,

4. After a parser is chosen in the combobox below the parse data field, click on next to commence
parsing.

III. AGM Output


1. After parsing, the references will be formed into the AGM format
2. Each output in the left side, corresponds to bibliographic data extracted from a reference.

3. To edit an AGM, on any currently selected reference, click on edit Parsed Citation.

4. In this page, data fields can be edited, deleted or added.


5. To commit any changes, click on save changes otherwise click on cancel.

6. Click on finish to save the parsed references to the database.

VIEWING PARSED REFERENCES


Introduction
1. To view already parsed references and/or perform any changes to them, click on View Parsed
References on the main menu.

I. View Parsed References.


1. Click on the journal, volume and issue of where the article belongs to.
2. Click on the article.
3. Click on which AGM output you would like to see.
4. The AGM will be shown on the right side of the window

II. Edit AGM saved in database


1. On any selected output, click on edit current output.

2. Add, Edit or Delete data fields as the user sees fit then click on save changes to commit changes,
otherwise ignore changes.
III. Export AGM from article
1. While an article is currently selected, click on export AGM.

2. Fill in file name and choose directory on where to save.

ARTICLE MANAGEMENT
Introduction
1. To manage and/or view an article's information click on Article Management from the Main Window

I. View Article
1. Select the journal, volume and issue by utilizing the form elements on the page.
2. Highlight the article you want to view by clicking on element in the article table located at the
bottom of the page.

3. Either double click the article, or click on View Article button while the article is highlighted.

II. Edit Article


1. To edit an article, similar to view article, highlight the article and click on Edit Article.
2. To edit the article name click on Article tab and fill in the new article name.

3. To edit the journal information of the article click on journal information.

4. Update the journal's information by utilizing the form elements in this page. Highlight the journal

where the article belongs to and update the volume and issue by using the comboboxes.
5. To update the authors' information click on the Authors tab and click on Add Author to add a
new author.
6. To remove an author highlight the row of the author you wish to remove by clicking on it, then click
on Remove Author.

7. To edit an author or his/her affiliation just directly double click on the cell and enter the desired
information.
III. Delete Article
1. Going back to the article management page, just highlight the article and click on the Delete
Article button.
2. A confirmation box will appear, click on YES to permanently delete the article. Otherwise, click on
no.

PARSER MANAGEMENT
Introduction
1. The parser management page, contains data about parsers which will be used by the parsing wizard
later on.
2. To manage parsers click on Parser Management from the Main Window.

I. Add Parser
1. To add a Parser click on Add Parser

2. Fill in the name/label of the parser and provide the path by either directly typing the path or click on
the Browse to direct you to the directory.
II. Delete Parser
1. To delete a parser just highlight the parser you wish to delete and click on Delete Parser
2. A confirmation box will appear, click on Yes to permanently discontinue using the parser.
