System displays the bidding round that is currently open.

System does not allow to choose courses adding up more than the allowed no.of
credits.
System does not allow the user to
o Take mutually exclusive course by looking at student academic history as well as
course chosen in the current term
Courses selected will be highlighted in different colour.
System allows to change course preferences before the mock-bid end date. Every time
'Save' button has to be clicked to record the changes made.
Any student not giving his/her actual preferences may find that the timetable is to

his/her disadvantage.
If students do not participate in the mock bid round, total available points for regular
rounds will get deducted by 200 points.

Regular Bidding Round - Round 1


Total available points for a student will be displayed at the top of the table. The points bid
by the students shall be consumed and the unused balance shall be made available and
displayed at the bottom of the table once the bids are saved.

Every course title is provided with a link to the course outline


System mandates the student to bid for minimum no. of credits
System does not allow to allocate points for courses adding up to more than the
allowed no.of credits.
students are not allowed to enter more than the bid currency available
Students are advised to look at the mock bidding results for estimating how many
points are to be allocated for each course and distribute his/her points among the
courses based on his/her individual preference
The minimum bid for a course is 1 point and bids can only be integral numbers
A course + faculty combination is floated as a single CRN. If 2 sections of a course
are offered by the same faculty, only one CRN is opened for bidding with the
combined max. cap.
The system shall not allow students to bid for a course if the same course code has
already been taken by the student in any previous terms or if its a mutually
exclusive course either in present or any of the past terms
Points for courses selected will be highlighted in different colour.

System allows to change course preference or bid points allocated to a course


before the regular round end date. Every time 'Submit' button has to be clicked to
record the changes made.
Bid summary table at the bottom of the page shows the courses bid for, points
allocated and its status

The system will trigger an e-mail of the bid summary after every submission of the
bid to the IIMB email id of the student. Please check that this id is correct on
Sarvam and inform PGP office in case of discrepancies.
The students have to take care of any conflict in time table that arises
during the bids. They need to take courses which do not cause conflict in
time tables.

In case of any tie in points at any point of time, allocation is based on random
number generated when the bids are placed.

Round Resolution
1. All the courses will be resolved in parallel.
2. Students course preferences will be sorted on the points allocated.
3. Courses are allotted for the students based on the points which they have bid and the
max cap of the courses.
Results after Round 1
At the end of Round 1, the status of the bids in the Bid Summary Table and against the
respective courses opted shall be one of the following Allotted - If the student has been allotted; points are consumed here.
Waitlisted - If the student's bid is less than the minimum required for getting into the
course; points are returned.
Applied - The course is underbid and hence shall be open for the next round as well;
points are retained in the respective course but the student will have the flexibility to reallocate points in the next round.

Regular Bidding round - Round 2


After round-1, unused points at the bottom of the page shows,
Unused points from round-1 + Points returned from waitlisted courses
Points returned from the underbid courses are displayed against the course title.
Students can opt out of the course getting back their points allocated for the
course. This is optional and they can wait for the process to continue as other
people may bid for that course in round 2.

Round 2 Results
Bid results will be displayed in the same fashion as in Round 1.
At the end of round 2, any underbid course will be automatically dropped by the portal
and the points will be returned to the students.
Regular Bidding Round Round 3
At the end of Round 2, If there are few students who have not yet met the term
credit requirement, the system will display the list of available courses and allow
the students to bid from the available courses with the available points.
Students must ensure that at the end of Round 3, they fulfill their minimum credit
requirements.
Bid resolution and allocation will happen in the same fashion as in Round 1 and
Round 2.
Add/Drop Round
Add or drop or swap of courses is allowed in the first week of the term
There will be a wait list rank maintained for all overbid courses in the previous
rounds in the order of points allocated in the bidding
Successful dropping of any course will be subject to the course not being underbid
after students dropping the courses. If more students are wanting to drop the
course it will be done on random basis
Students are allowed to add a course only if there are enough seats available in
that course.
It is students responsibility to ensure that they have enough course credits to
satisfy course requirements after dropping courses
After pure drop resolution, students who were waitlisted opting for an overbid
course during actual rounds and now has seats available after drops are given

preference based on wait list ranking.
