Course Synopsis

This course attempts at exposing students to the different types of written discourse used in
science and technology. Throughout this course students will be engaged in exhaustive
readings of authentic science and technical materials of various resources, which will help them
to be familiarized with some of the lexical items, concepts, and structures normally found in
these types of writing. There is also emphasis on studying graphic representations in order to
make interpretations and draw conclusions.

Learning Outcomes :
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1) Interpret and acquire knowledge by reading and understanding different text types in
science and technology in English. (K4, A3)
2) Communicate effectively the knowledge and skills acquired by listening to and viewing
texts on sience and technology in English. (K2, P2, A1)
3) Present information on science and technology at an appropriate level in written and
spoken English. (K5, P4, A4)
4) Analyse critically and give points of view on issues pertaining to science and technology
during group discussions. (K3, P3)
