Sick on Saturday
I have just had a terrible weekend! On Saturday I was so tired that I slept all
morning. When I woke up I had a head ache and my throat was sore. My
body ached all over. My nose ran and I coughed a lot. My mother took my
temperature but I did not have a fever.
My mother made me some soup for lunch and I ate it in bed. I drank some juice.
I tried to read a book but I couldnt keep my eyes open. I lay in bed all afternoon.
I drifted in and out of sleep. I drank more juice. I felt miserable all afternoon.
I didnt want to do anything.
I got out of bed at dinner time. My parents ordered pizza for dinner and I was able
to eat some of it. I drank more juice! I felt a bit better after dinner so I stayed up.
I snuggled under a blanket on the couch and watched some TV with my parents.
I fell asleep in front of the TV.

Skating!
This winter I learned to skate! A friend of mine had an extra pair of skates.
He persuaded me to go skating with him one Saturday afternoon in February.
I borrowed the skates and we went skating!
It was cold outside! We wore hats, scarves and mitts to keep warm. He showed me
how to put on the skates. He helped me walk onto the ice. He showed me how to
start moving. He also showed me how to stop! I moved very slowly at first and lots
of people skated past me. When I fell nobody laughed at me. Instead,
they helped me get back up. I kept trying! Soon I felt much better. I liked skating!

MR. FLORES LIKES AND DISLIKES.

I like to collect movies in DVD. I love silent films and old black and white movies
from the thirties and forties. In fact, my favorite movie is Its a Wonderful Life... a
B&W movie made in 1943! I like to seat back in my couch with a cup of coffee and
watch these old movies all the evening.
But I also like modern movies, too! I like action movies and movies dealing with
magic kingdoms and dragons and wizards, like The Lord of the Rings saga. I dont
like romantic movies, I think they are boring and I definitely hate comedies, I dont
laugh at all.
My other great passion is music, mainly classical music, I find it refreshing and
invigorating. I love the music of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, but I dont like the
music of Schornberg and Khachaturian. In relation to modern popular music, I like

English ballads and Gospel, and I love Bob Marleys songs. But I certainly
hate trance or electronic music, I think it is exasperating.

Hello, mates!
My names David and Im 12 years old. I am from London, the capital city of
the UK. Today Im writing about the things I like or dont like. It isnt easy because
there are too many things to talk about. Thats why I have to concentrate my
opinions on two or three topics.
To start with, lets talk about food and drinks. I dont like fish very much, but I
like meat. I really like fast food (pizza, hamburgers, chips, hot-dogs), but my
favorite snacks are pizza and hamburgers. Pizza is delicious with coke, but I
prefer lemonade and orange juice to coke. I also like mineral water (sparkling or
still), milk and white coffee. Tea is ok, but I hate alcoholic drinks! When it comes to
fruit I really adore strawberries, but pears are not my cup of tea. I like grapes
and I love oranges! Apples are very good. You know the old saying: An apple a
day keeps the doctor away. Im not a fan of vegetables, but my parents and
teachers say theyre very important. I think theyre right. I really hate broccoli, but
carrots are ok. I detest cucumber salad, but I like mixed salad (lettuce and
tomatoes). Im crazy for mushrooms, but I really dont like onions.
And now school! I love playing with my friends in the playground. I dont like
History very much and I hate my Maths lessons! Anyway, I like Gym and Art, but I
prefer Science because Im crazy for animals. I really like Music and I love my
Portuguese lessons, but my favorite subject is English, of course!
