ThisarticledescribeshowtocompletelyremoveMicrosoftOfficeforMac2011fromyourcomputer.

Thefollowingrequirementsmustbemetbeforeyoufollowanyofthestepsinthisarticle.
Youmustquitallapplications.
Youmustbeloggedonasanadministrator.
MakesureanythingcontainedintheTrashcanbedeleted.

Moreinformation
IMPORTANTThelocationofcertainfilesaredifferentifyouhaveServicePack2(SP2)installed.Tocheckifitisinstalled,openWord,andthenclickAboutWordfrom
theWordmenu.Iftheversionnumberis14.2.0orabove,youhaveServicePack2andyoushouldfollowtheServicePack2stepswhenprovidedinthisarticle.

Step1:QuitallOfficeforMacapplications
YoucanfollowoneofthesemethodstoquitanactiveOfficeforMacapplication:
SelecttheapplicationnamenexttotheAppleicon,andthenclickQuit<applicationname>.
Example:IfWordforMacisactive,clickWordnexttotheAppleiconfromthemenusystem,andthenclickQuitWord.
IftheprogramiconappearsintheDock,presstheCONTROLkey,clicktheicon,andthenselectQuit.

Step2:RemovetheMicrosoftOffice2011folder
1. OntheGomenu,clickApplications.
2. DragtheMicrosoftOffice2011foldertotheTrash.

Step3:RemoveOfficepreferences
WarningRemovingpreferenceswilldeleteanycustomizationsthatweremade.Thesecustomizationsincludechangestotoolbars,customdictionaries,andkeyboard
shortcutsthatwerecreated.
Toremove"com.microsoft"files,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickHome.
2. OpenLibrary.
NoteTheLibraryfolderishiddeninMacOSX10.7andlater.Todisplaythisfolder,holddowntheOPTIONkeywhileyouclicktheGomenu.
3. OpenPreferences.
4. Arrangefilesandfoldersinalphabeticalorder.
5. Dragallfilesthatbeginwith"com.microsoft"totheTrash.

Toremovecom.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plist,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyourharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenLaunchDaemons.
4. Dragcom.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plisttotheTrash.
Toremovecom.microsoft.office.licensing.helper,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyourharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenPrivilegedHelperTools.
4. Dragcom.microsoft.office.licensing.helpertotheTrash.

Step4:Removethelicensefile
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyourharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenPreferences.
4. Dragcom.microsoft.office.licensing.plisttotheTrash.
Toremovesubscriptionfiles,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickHome.
2. OpenLibrary.
NoteTheLibraryfolderishiddeninMacOSX10.7andlater.Todisplaythisfolder,holddowntheOPTIONkeywhileyouclicktheGomenu.

IMPORTANTPleaserestartyourcomputerafterfollowingtheabovestepstoremoveinmemorycaches.

Step5:Remove/Library/ApplicationSupport/Microsoft/
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyourharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenApplicationSupport.
4. DragtheMicrosoftfoldertotheTrash.
WarningIftheMicrosoftSilverlightpluginisinstalledonthecomputer,youmayhavetoreinstallitafterremovingthisfolder.ClickheretoreinstallMicrosoftSilverlight
(http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/getstarted/install/default.aspx).

Step6:Removereceipts
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyourharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenReceipts.
4. Dragallfilesthatbeginwith"Office2011_"totheTrash.
NoteThesefilesarenotalwaysfoundonthecomputer.
IfyouhaveMacOSXSnowLeopard(10.6)orLion(10.7),continuewiththesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickGotoFolder.
2. TypethistextintheGotofolderbox,andthenclickGo:
/private/var/db/receipts
3. Arrangefilesandfoldersinalphabeticalorder.
4. Dragallfilesthatbeginwith"com.microsoft.office"totheTrash.

Step7:Remove/Users/username/Library/ApplicationSupport/Microsoft/Office/
WarningThiswilldeleteanycustomtemplatefilesthatyoumayhavecreated.
1. OntheGomenu,clickHome.
2. OpenLibrary.
NoteTheLibraryfolderishiddeninMacOSX10.7andlater.Todisplaythisfolder,holddowntheOPTIONkeywhileyouclicktheGomenu.
3. OpenApplicationSupport.
4. OpenMicrosoft,andthendragtheOfficefoldertotheTrash.

Step8:RemovetheMicrosoftfonts
ToremovetheMicrosoftfontsthatwereinstalledwithOfficeforMac2011,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickComputer.
2. Doubleclickyouharddiskicon.ThedefaultnamewillbeMacintoshHD.
3. OpenLibrary,andthenopenFonts.
4. DragtheMicrosoftfoldertotheTrash.

Step9:EmptytheTrash
WarningMakesureallfilesandfoldersintheTrashcanbedeleted.
1. OntheFindermenu,clickEmptyTrash.
2. OntheApplemenu,clickRestart.

Step10:MovetheMicrosoftUserDatafoldertothedesktop
WarningTheOutlookforMac2011identityinformationislocatedin/Users/username/Documents/MicrosoftUserData/.Ifyoudeletethisfolder,youwillloseallOutlook
informationandCitationSourceManagerdata.DonotremovetheMicrosoftUserDatafolderifyouwanttokeepthisdata.Werecommendyoumovethefolderinstead.
ImportantIfaMicrosoftUserDatafolderislocatedonthedesktop,renameitbeforeyoufollowthesesteps.
TomovetheMicrosoftUserDatafolder,followthesesteps:
1. OntheGomenu,clickDocuments.
2. DragtheMicrosoftUserDatafoldertothedesktop.
3. OntheApplemenu,clickRestart.

Step11:RemoveOfficeapplicationiconsinthedock
ToremovetheOfficeapplicationiconsintheDock,followthesesteps:
1. HolddowntheCONTROLkeyandthenclickanOfficeapplicationiconintheDocksuchasMicrosoftWord.
2. ClickOptions,andthenclickRemovefromDock.(Thescreenshotforthisstepislistedbelow).
