It was a pleasant monsoon morning with slight drizzles. After lots of fun filled events, it was time for some
social service. Lions District 323-G1 had organized and
conceptualized this event. It was a joint activity of all
Lions & Leo clubs in the district.

District Governor Lion Kulbhushan Mittal & Lions International Vice-President Lion Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada
from Japan were the chief invitees.
At the venue from 9 in the morning huge gathering of
students could be seen. They were full of enthusiasm
and with tri-colour Indian flag & flag of Japan in their
hands.
The Leos were present in a good strength and helped
in the management of the event to best of the capabilities. Leos Vaibhav, Harsh, Sachin, Nikhil, Koshal,
Palash, Yugansh & Sumit participated with full enthusiasm. The new entrants Leos Luv, Neha, Raghav &
Sumedh also volunteered & their work was appreciable. We also coordinated for students from our very
own adapted Nemi Nagar School.
A Leo event can never be over without a lip-smacking
Indori breakfast. The hot Jalebi, samosas & poha at 56
shops in a monsoon morning, what better can it get!!

While glass does block most UVB rays, UVA radiation

can get through. Which means that even indoors or in a
car with the windows up, you can tan or burn. However,
you can have special window film installed that blocks
most UVA radiation as well.

Just because you cant see your shadow doesnt mean

youre safe from the suns damaging rays. Believe it or
not, up to 80 percent of the suns UV rays can penetrate
through clouds and fog.

Windows protect us from the suns UV rays.

You cant get sun damage on a cloudy day.

Leo Lilliput

INDORE, AUGUST 2014

A sunscreens SPF (sun protection factor) indicates that

it protects against UVB rays, but you need protection
from both UVB and UVA. For effective protection,
apply a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen.
Sunscreens with SPFs greater than 50 provide
only a small increase in UVB protection. Rather
than looking at a sunscreens SPF, choose a
broad-spectrum sunscreen that will protect you
from UVA and UVB rays.

For answer, Email us at apnibaat.lcim@gmail.com

Samvaad se Samadhaan Tak

I use a Sunscreen of SPF 50, so I am all set.

Our bodies can produce some vitamin D following

exposure to the Suns ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation.
However, after a limited amount of sun exposure
(approximately five minutes daily at 12 PM in
summer), vitamin D production reaches its
maximum. Further UV exposure will actually
break down vitamin D to inactive compounds!
Furthermore, sun exposure increases your risk
of skin cancer and accelerated skin aging. The
safest way to obtain vitamin D is through
diet and supplements.

crapbooking is a creative hobby!

A Holiday Scrapbook is a decorated album that preserves the stories from a
vacation and also holds memorabilia (tickets, certificates, letters, etc.). Its really all about getting a few photos out of shoeboxes and into the album where they can
be seen and shared. Best of all, no experience or expertise is requiredits all about
cutting and gluing.

Each vacation
has its own
meaning. If you
take some time
to identify this
youll be able to
create a complete and cohesive story on a
single page of
your scrapbook
for each of your
holiday.

Journaling is another important part of your holiday scrapbook. By writing down the
date and the location, you will be able to easily recall the day as if it had just occurred.
This is especially important if the scrapbook is passed down from one generation to
another, because often times later generations either werent old enough to remember
the actual event as it took place, or werent even present at that time.

Though holiday scrapbooking can become a big project, it can be a fun one as well. If
your children help you put it together, they are more likely to teach their children, and
your family scrapbooks can then be enjoyed from one generation to the next.

A holiday scrapbook should tell a story, after all, the holidays are about family, friends,
togetherness, and the memories gained through these special times and experiences.

Scrapbooking Tips

Use your imagination; nothing is wrong in scrapbooking, you learn more with
practice.
Dont put too many photos on one page. Three or less is optimal. A smaller number
of photos will catch your eye and prevent the sensory overload that accompanies a 12
photo montage!
Where possible, use acid free paper. As well as lasting longer, it will also prevent
your photographs and keepsakes from yellowing over time.
Use ribbons and lots of colors. Try working with a theme.
