Teaching, and Fellowship. It is quite amazing that preparations are made in this life; preparations for a new job, new home, new
vehicles, change of this and change of that, new locations and the list is endless; but there is a preparation that some neglect, but it is still evitable. It can be ignored, but it certainly will not disappear. That
is our preparation to meet God. While we still have our faculties and mental/intellectual capability,
we must make preparation to meet our God.

God Himself has provided the meeting place for mankind to know Him. That meeting place is in a
person; it is the person of Jesus Christ His Son, the Messiah. The only way to make preparation is to
meet God in His Son, Jesus. He is the only Way to God for He stated in John 14:6 "I am the way and
the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

IJM Motto:
Seeking The Lost
Strengthening The Saved
Serving Others

In Exodus 25:21-22, God told the children of Israel to prepare a place which was holy, sanctified and
designed according to His specifications in order for Him to meet with them; it was called the Tent
of Meeting and in that Tent of Meeting was a very special piece of furniture. And thou shalt put the
mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And
there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between
the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in
commandment unto the children of Israel. The place prepared for meeting God was the mercy seat.
That Holy place was a place of meeting and a place of communion; it was a place of relationship where
God designated the way to fellowship with His people. Yes, most importantly, preparation has to be
made to meet Him after this life; but, preparation most assuredly must be made to meet God while
we are still living. He wants to shepherd us, fellowship with us, and show us His grace and mercy
through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As formentioned, The Tent of Meeting held an ark which had a top, guarded by two cherubiums, has
a mercy seat mercy seat. When you look at the meaning of mercy seat, it is rich with the revelation
which God wants all those who seek Him to find. The name for the lid or covering of the Ark of the
Covenant was the mercy-seat (Exodus 25:17). The Old Testament term means "covering," then, like
the New Testament word, "propitiatory" ("to cover guilt," "to make atonement"). The ark contained
the two tables of stone which witnessed against the sin of the people. The blood of sacrifice, sprinkled
on the mercy-seat on the great Day of Atonement, intercepted, as it were, this condemning testimony,
and effected reconciliation between God and His people. God by this ceremony was appeased and
their sins expiate; hence the lid of expiation, the propitiatory. The place of forgiveness
What then is the preparatory blessing? It is to have revealed that Jesus is said to be set forth as "a
propitiation (literally, "propitiatory"), through faith, in his blood," (Romans 3:25) thus fulfilling the
idea of the mercy-seat. Jesus is our Mercy-Seat; the place where God has given to trust in Him by faith

need for mercy Since all have sinned
and are falling short of the honor and
glory which God bestows and receives. [All] are justified and made
upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by
His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, Whom God put forward
[before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His
blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and
reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show
God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had
passed over and ignored former sins without punishment. (Romans 3:23-25)

Prepare to meet God, first at the Mercy-Seat, the place of forgiveness of sins, and then on that great day when every man shall
give an account of the life lived for or against God. Either way
preparation has to be made, choose wisely, choose Gods Son by
faith and live.
In closing, the dying words of this man resounds for him throughout eternity, "When I lived, I provided for everything but death;
now I must die, and I am unprepared to die." -Cesare Borgia
While you have this great grace for preparation, do so with deliberation so that your testimony will be, God and I met at the
mercy-seat and all of my sins are forgiven.
Pray: Father, I acknowledge my sins, my transgressions, and my
iniquities. I ask you to forgive me and meet me at the seat of mercy. I realize that my life does not agree with your Word and I have
been living unprepared for life here and life in eternity. Come into
my heart and wash me from all of my sins. This day, I give you my
life and I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ and by faith in Him,
I have forgiveness of all of my sins. I thank you for loving me
and I thank you for forgiving me. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

Evangelism: Communicating a 5-point Gospel

Presentation
It can be a great approach to
start out a conversation with
someone about the Gospel,
by letting them know that they
were created in the image and
likeness of God. This gives
them dignity, and lets them
know that they were created
with the purpose of reflecting
the image of the King of Glory. Lets review 5 simple points
together.
1. We were created in the image
and likeness of God. We were
created to walk in perfection,
as God is perfect. So God created human beings in his own
image. In the image of God he
created them; male and female
he created them. Genesis 1:27
2. We have all sinned and fallen
short of Gods glory, and His
standard of perfection. For
everyone has sinned; we all fall
short of God's glorious standard. Romans 3:23
3. Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
came into the world and lived
the perfect life that no other
person has been able to live.

He met Gods standard of perfection for us. Therefore, since

we have a great high priest who
has ascended into heaven,f Jesus the Son of God, let us hold
firmly to the faith we profess.
15For we do not have a high
priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but
we have one who has been
tempted in every way, just as
we areyet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15-16
4. Jesus Christ took the punishment that we deserved because
of our sins, when He died on
the cross. He was handed over
to die because of our sins, and
he was raised to life to make us
right with God. Romans 4:25
5. Jesus Christ resurrected from
the dead three days after dying
on the cross for our sins. He
proved that He has the power
to forgive sins, and give eternal
life to those who trust in Him
as Lord and Savior. How God
anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power,
and how he went around doing good and healing all who

were under the power of the

devil, because God was with
him. We are witnesses of everything he did in the country
of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
They killed him by hanging him
on a cross, but God raised him
from the dead on the third day
and caused him to be seen. He
was not seen by all the people,
but by witnesses whom God
had already chosenby us who
ate and drank with him after he
rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the
people and to testify that he is
the one whom God appointed
as judge of the living and the
dead. All the prophets testify
about him that everyone who
believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
Acts 10:38-43

I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth

Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil: for thou art with
me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me.

Proverbs 31:30

You must be born again!

ithin every person born into this world person there is a

knowing or feeling that there must be something more to
life, a vacuum or an emptiness what cannot be filled; a great
truth to be discovered. Such was the case with Nicodemus, who came to Jesus Christ at night because he suspected that
He might be the Messiah promised to Israel by God. Nicodemus
whose personal name means innocent of blood was a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of
the Jews). He was not satisfied with the legalism of the Pharisees;
Nicodemus came to Jesus at night with questions concerning entry
into the kingdom of God. Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said,
I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he
is born again. How can a man be born when he is old? Nicodemus asked. Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mothers
womb to be born! Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one
can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the
Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
You should not be surprised
"For it is by grace you have been at my saying, You must be
saved, through faithand this born again (John 3:3-7).

above." Nicodemus had
Ephesians 2:8-9
a real need. He needed a
change of his heart; he needed a spiritual transformation.
New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life
is imparted to the person who believes.
Apostle Paul writes Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become
new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) He writes further to his son in the ministry Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Titus 3:5) Apostle Peter writes
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which
according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a
lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (1
Peter 1:3) If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one

If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is

if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by
being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in

that doeth righteousness is born of him. (1 John 2:29)

Apostle John writes But as many as received Him, to them gave
He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13) The text
is clear being "born again" carries the idea of "becoming children
of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.
Apostle Paul states the need says in Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you
He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins" (NKJV). To
the Romans he wrote, "For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Sinners (those without Christ) are
spiritually dead; when they receive spiritual life through faith in
Christ, the Bible likens it to a rebirth. Only those who are born
again have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.
This miracles change is an act of Gods grace. Ephesians 2:8-9
states, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so
that no one can boast." When one is saved, he or she has been born
again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of
new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty
of sin when He died on the cross is the means to be "born again."
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has
gone, the new has come!"
If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior,
will you consider the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to
your heart? You need to be born again. Ask Christ to forgive you
of your sins and become your Lord and become a new creation in
Christ today?
Nicodemus would not rest until he found the truth. He wanted
badly to understand, and he sensed that Jesus had the answer. After
he became a follower, his life was changed forever. He never hid his
faith in Jesus again. Jesus is the source of all truth, the meaning of
life. When we are born again, as Nicodemus was, we should never
forget that we have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life because
of Christ's sacrifice for us. Trust Christ as Savior Today!

Our Jewish Roots:

The

new Jewish year,

5775, will be starting in
a few weeks. The Hebrew
Calendar is different than
the Gregorian Calendar,
starting in the fall and not
in the winter, with different
names for the months and
months of different lengths
the Hebrew months are
29 or 30 days long.

The major festivals of Old Testament Israel were,

in calendar order, Passover, Unleavened Bread,
Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), the
Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and
the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles or Ingathering).
After the exile, the Jews added memorial days
for the fall of Jerusalem (eventually fixed as the
Ninth of Ab), Purim, and the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah). In addition, the Israelites observed the Sabbath every week and the feast of
the New Moon every lunar month.

Israel's festivals were communal and commemorative as well as theological and typological. They
were communal in that they drew the nation
together for celebration and worship as they recalled the common origin and experience of the
people. They were commemorative in that they
kept alive the story of what God had done in
the exodus and during the sojourn. They were
Tishrei
(September October) theological in that the observance of the festivals
presented the participants with lessons on the reXeshvan

need for thanksgiving to God, and on the imKislev

The Five Major Feasts: The Passover. The Bible

traces the origin of Passover to the Exodus. According to Exodus 12, on the evening of the 14th
of the first month (Abib; later called Nisan), the
Israelites gathered in family units to sacrifice a
yearling sheep or goat. They used hyssop to apply blood from the lambs to the sides and tops of
the door frames of their homes and roasted the
lambs. They also prepared bitter herbs and bread
without yeast. They ate the food hastily and with
their sandals on their feet as a sign of their readiness for a quick departure. That night, the Lord

killed Egypt's firstborn but spared Israel.

The subsequent festival was called Pesah, generally rendered "Passover" in reference to God's
passing over or sparing of the Israelites, although
the precise origin of the word is unknown. In
Exodus 12:21, Moses tells the Israelites to "sacrifice the pesah" without defining the term. This is
evidence that some kind of Passover festival was
already known and practiced by the Israelites
prior to the Exodus. Even if this is so, the events
of the Exodus redefined forever the significance
of the festival. According to Exodus 12:26-27,
when subsequent generations inquired about the
meaning of the Passover, they were to be told
that it commemorated the Lord's sparing of the
Israelites on the night he struck down the Egyptians.
Throughout Israelite history Passover continued
to be a festival of supreme importance. Chronicles records in detail two great celebrations of
Passover, one in Hezekiah's reign (2 Chronicles
30), and one in Josiah's reign ( 2 Chronicles
35:1-19 ). Of all of Israel's festivals, Passover is
of the greatest importance to the New Testament
because the Lord's Supper was a Passover meal
( Matthew 26:17-27 ; Mark 14:12-25 ; Luke
22:7-22). In passing the bread to the disciples
and telling them that it was his body and that
they should eat of it, Jesus was perhaps presenting Himself as the Passover lamb. Christ is thus
described as "our Passover lamb" in 1 Corinthians 5:7 and as "the Lamb who was slain" in Revelation 5:12. John's Gospel points out that none
of Jesus' bones were broken in His crucifixion in
agreement to the requirement that none of the
Passover lamb's bones be broken
(John 19:33-37 ; Exodus 12:46 ).
As we are entering into the season that we celebrate the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord; let us remember that He was
born Jewish and every Feast of the Lord has Jesus
Christ concealed; but now He is revealed to all
those who will diligently seek Him.

Small pox ravaged human populations for centuries. Evidence of the disease is thought to have been present on the
mummified body of Pharoah Ramses V of Egypt.
In the 18th century about 400,000 Europeans (including 5
reigning monarchs) succumbed to the disease.
In the 20th century, it is estimated that there have been 300
million deaths attributed to the disease with 2 million deaths
in 1967 alone.
With a campaign of world-wide vaccinations undertaken
throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, smallpox was finally
eradicated from the planet in 1979. The last human recorded
to have contracted the disease was Ali Maow Marlin, a hospital cook in Somalia - October 1977.
In May 1980 the World Health Organization wrote the Smallpox Emancipation Proclamation:
"Having considered the development and results of the
global program on smallpox eradication initiated by WHO
in 1958 and intensified since 1967...Declares solemnly that
the world and it's people's have won freedom from smallpox,
which was a most devastating disease sweeping in epidemic form through many countries since easiest time, leaving
death, blindness and disfigurement in its wake.." Resolution

Parents should help protect the lives of their children and the
lives of their neighbors children by ensuring their children
receive recommended vaccines.

Money Matters ... A Christian Will

Part I
The vast majority of Americans do not have a will or a trust. If
they died today they would leave the distribution of their assets
to the state. Without a doubt this represents poor stewardship.
The vast majority of Americans do not have a will or a trust. If
they died today they would leave the distribution of their assets
to the state. Without a doubt this represents poor stewardship.
Most people recognize the need to have a will, but they never get
around to having one written.
A great many people had a valid will at one time, but either the
witnesses have died or the state laws have changed, invalidating
their wills. Regardless of the reason, the simple truth is that if
your will cannot be probated, or proved, in court, it is worthless.
The state agency assigned to handle intestate (having no legal
will) properties will divide them among the surviving heirs as the
agency sees fit, after extracting probate costs, state inheritance
taxes, and federal inheritance taxes.
Rather than spend a few hundred dollars in attorney costs, many
of these estates will spend several times that in court costs before
the assets are distributed.
A simple will can avoid these problems. For more complicated
estates consisting of larger assets, a trust may be more advantageous.
Most asked questions...
To help you to understand what kind of estate planning is best
for your family, we have addressed the 12 most frequently asked
questions concerning wills and trusts.
1. Can I draft my own will without having to pay an attorney?
Yes, you can in most states. A self-drawn will is called a holographic will. The rules governing holographic wills vary from
state to state, and you must thoroughly understand the laws of
your state to ensure your will is probatable in court. For this reason all wills should be proofread by an attorney.
2. What if one of my witnesses has died or is unable to serve as
a witness? In order for a will to be probated, the judge will most
likely require that the will be verified. If you used only two witnesses and the state requires two, both must be alive and able to
substantiate the general contents of the will. It is always best to
have three or four witnesses. If less than the required are available, you will need to amend your will with a codicil to have other
witnesses verify it.
3. Should I keep my will in a safety deposit box? If you do keep it
in a safety deposit box you need to be sure that someone else has
access to the box. Since a safety deposit box cannot be opened
except by court order, the process can be lengthy and expensive.
Therefore you should name your spouse and your attorney or
accountant as authorized signatories.
4. Do I need a new will if I change residences from one state to
another? Possibly. You need to have an attorney in the new state
review your will to be sure that it conforms to that state's laws.

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and

peace have kissed each other. Psalm 85:10
Embrace in one act the two truths--thine own sin, and
God's infinite mercy in Jesus Christ. Alexander MacL
Let us remember the loving-kindness of the Lord and
rehearse His deeds of grace. Let us open the volume of
recollection, which is so richly illuminated with memories of His mercy, and we will soon be happy. Alistair
Begg
All roads lead to the judgment seat of Christ. Keith
Green
Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to God's love
and the future to God's providence. Augustine
Mercy, detached from Justice, grows unmerciful.
C.S. Lewis
God's mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the
sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make
space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God.
Charles Spurgeon
Hark the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new-born
king." Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners
reconciled! Charles Wesley
A man does not get grace till he comes down to the
ground, till he sees he needs grace. When a man stoops
to the dust and acknowledges that he needs mercy, then
it is that the Lord will give him grace. D.L. Moody
Mercy is like the rainbow, which God hath set in the
clouds; it never shines after it is night. If we refuse mercy here, we shall have justice in eternity. Jeremy Taylor
Holiness is the perfection of all [God's] other attributes.
His power is holy power, His mercy is holy mercy, and
His wisdom is holy wisdom. It is His holiness more than
any other attribute that makes Him worthy of our praise.
Jerry Bridges
