IT programs aim to provide IT graduates with the skills and knowledge to take on appropriate
professional positions in Information Technology upon graduation and grow towards
leadership positions or pursue research or graduate studies in the field. Specifically, within
four years of graduation a student must be able to:

Explain and apply appropriate information technologies and employ appropriate


methodologies to help an individual or organization achieve its goals and objectives;

Manage the information technology resources of an individual or organization;

Anticipate the changing direction of information technology and evaluate and


communicate the likely utility of new technologies to an individual or organization;

Understand and for some to contribute to the scientific, mathematical and theoretical
foundations on which information technologies are built;

In general, the graduates of the program will have the ability to:
A. Use and apply current technical concepts and practice in the core area of information
technology.
B. Analyze, identify and define the IT requirements that must be satisfied to address
problems or opportunities faced by organizations or individuals.
C. Design effective and usable IT-based solutions and integrate them into the user
environment.
D. Identify and evaluate current and emerging technologies and assess their
applicability to address the users needs.
E. Analyze the impact of technology on individual, organization and society.
F. Assist in the creation of an effective project plan.
G. Analyze, adopt and demonstrate IT best practices, standards and their application.
H. Demonstrate independent critical thinking and problem solving skill

Collaborate in teams to accomplish a common goal by integrating personal initiatives


and group cooperation.

To provide workplace experience/exposure for senior students in the Information


Technology program

To enhance the departments network and linkages with industrial companies &
businesses vis--vis career placement for its graduates

To provide opportunities for future professionals relative to the labor market

To enable the students to apply and appreciate the relevance of classroom


learning

To gain inputs so as to continuously improve the Practical Attachment Program of


the department

5. Guidelines
A. The Program encourage and make it mandatory to senior students to participate in
Practical Attachment through industry-immersion. This is for them to understand,
involve and experience the industry-based practice as future Information Technology
Professional.
B. The Department seeks and recommends possible IT industries and Companies
where there is a specific IT department for this undertaking. A Letter of
Endorsement (Appendix A) address to the IT Industry/Company is given to the
student.
C. Prior to commencing the Practical Attachment students should informed the
Department of Information Technology if they are accepted by the companies
through. This is through the a confirmation letter indicating the Name of the
Practical Attachment

D. The students will undergo practical attachment for not less than (300) hrs but not
more than 2 months to selected and recommended IT industries or companies.
E. All their works and activities during the industry immersion should be directly related
to the different areas of IT profession which includes Software Development,
Database Administration, Web Development/Programming, System and
Network Administration and Computer Maintenance and Technical Support.
F. There will be close monitoring of their performance and students should acts and
behaves like a professional where they must adhere to the policies and norms of the
industry/company. This involves functionality to every day attendance, right attitudes
towards work, participate in department activities, and follow guidelines set by the
company.
G. Upon the completion of the practical attachment, an evaluation form (Appendix B.) is
to be filled up by the Immediate Supervisor and will be cross check by the
Department of information Technology during submission.
H. The students must develop a Narrative Report (Appendix C), and will present it to
the Department of Information Technology for evaluation and feedback.

Hence, the equivalent mark will be given to the students.

Appendix A.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student, in partial fulfillment of the


course, is required to Three Hundred (300) hours of office Practicum.
In this regard, we have chosen your good office from the list of prestigious public/private
office to help our students avail of the opportunity to familiarize with the actual office
practice.
