Students will be able to list three emotions they have


identified

Students will discuss what makes a good piece of film


music and listen to various examples.

Students will be able to investigate a research question


within a small group, and back up their findings with sound
examples from YouTube.

Students watch scenes selected by the teacher
from movie; 'The Life of PI'
Students are asked to listen to the music in each
scene carefully and list three two emotions that
the music helps create in each scene.
Students are invited to share their ideas with the
class.
Students discussing ideas to create mind map.

Write the units main Learning outcomes up on the board for


the students to see, and briefly gives students an outline of
what they will try and achieve over the following four or so
weeks.
Starter: Students to watch various scenes from the

movie 'the Life of PI'- Teacher gets students to list two


emotions that the music helps to create in each scene.
Lesson
Teacher to pose question to class:
What do you think makes a good piece of film music?
Teacher to write up ideas that the students come up
with on the board( mind map)
Introduction of film music: Power Point
presentation containing various sound and visual
examples- Students listening to sound examples and
brief history of film music.

Students are divided up into six groups. Each
group is given a research question and task
sheet.

Teacher to number people off from 1 to 6( depending


on class size), so there are roughly six groups of about
two or three.
Teacher to inform students that these will be the
groups you will be working in next lesson to research
your topic.
