NSU Fishing Team prepares for the upcoming season

The NSU fishing team casts out and is ready for a new semester. The team currently has
25 members competing in tournaments this semester all out of state. On Jan. 24, 2014 Cody
Metzger and Michael King went to the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Pavilion Brookeland, TX.
I couldnt get the experiences I do with anything else, said Cody Metzger, Wagoner
sophomore. It gets us out there doing what we love to do while being able to share it with
friends and making new friends with the same passion.
They will also be traveling to Lake Texoma, Pottsboro, TX, and Red River, Natchitoches,
LA with the southern conference championship being held at Grand Lake, Grove, OK.
It was the biggest tournament I have been a part of and the college FLWs (Fishing
League Worldwide) biggest, said Metzger. Its hard to keep going because it is a really
expensive sport and hard to get help for it but it is very rewarding.
This semester the NSU Fishing Team has a hat and shirt fundraiser to support other than
the FLW conference championships, the tournaments out of state. They would like to send as
many teams as possible. Hats are $15 and shirts range from $15 to $23.
I am looking forward to finishing rehab on my ACL so I can get on a boat in a
tournament, said Connor Schwab, secretary of the fishing team.

The NSU Fishing Team meets depending on when their next tournament is to be
determined. They plan to raise $1,000 with their apparel fundraising. Any college student who is
enrolled full-time and in good standing may join.
I just love to fish and the college tournament opens up a lot of opportunity to make it to
the next level and fish the pro side, said Dylan Duncan, president of fishing team.
