Section 4(1)(b)(I) Particulars of Organisation functions and duties


The department of Information and Public Relations functions to achieve its
objectives and goals through dissemination and transmission of information, publicity
and public relations. The Department operates its multi-media systems for effective
publicity and performs a signal service in acting as a bridge between the people and
the Government and creates awareness among all sections of the people on
Government policies, plans and programmes intended for welfare and development.
Dissemination of Information:
The main objective of the department is basically two fold viz., informing
the public about the policies and programmes of the Government on one hand and on
lthe other keeping the Government informed of the peoples` reaction to its policies and
programmes.
Communication is a most vital process of socio-economic
development.
This Department adopts difference modes for dissemination of
information and publicity activities.
FUNCTIONS:
The Divisional Public Relations Officer`s alongwith the other staff
attached to these offices are attending to the publicity of the various development and
welfare activities of the Government departments in District through print and
electronic media and covering the visits of the VIP`s by arranging photography and
vediography.
Arranging press tours and press meets. Organising exhibtions,
Conducting film shows, song and drama programmes, collecting success stories with
photographs and issuing to news papers, feedback reports publications are being
brought-out on various development and welfare schemes like posters, brochures,
booklets, A.P.Journal and granting press accreditation to print and electronic media,

-2arranging Public Address System during meeting and arranging tape recording and
arranging distribution of publicity material. Only public adverse press clippings are
being sent to concerned departments and obtaining rejoinder, issuing to press,
collecting feed back from public besides attending to Cultural Affairs work.
Keeping the people informed about the policies, schemes and
programmes of the Government.
Eradicting social evils like untouchability, dowry, jogini, bonded labour,
child labour, banamati etc.
4(1)(b)(ii) the powers and duties of its Officers and employees
1. Dvl.P.R.O.: Maintain cordial relation with press in dissemination of Government
developmental activities. Collect feed back reports, suceess stories and feature
articles. Rejoinders pres conferences and submit them to government. Coverage of
VVIP`s and VIP`s visits , Admnistration and. Attend Cultural affairs work ,
publishing of the various development and welfare activities of the Government
department in the Division.
2. Publicity Assistant: Arrange P.A. system and films shows and coverage of tape
recording of VVIPS. Organisation of exhibtion and work assigned to him from
time to time.
3. Typist: Typing and despatch.and tappals.
The Dist.P.R.O. is the head of the office, the other employees follow the
instructions of the head of the office from time to time according to the need of the
hour.
4(1)(b)(iii) the procedure followed in the decision making process, including
channels of supervision and accountability:
The procedure prescribed in the District Office Manual is being followed.
The currents are received in Tapal Section. On receipt of the same they will send for
Dvl.PRO , On persual by the officer, send back to the concerned for action. the Typist
put-up the same in the shape of a file with relevant extract of Acts and Rules and
submit the file to the officer. The office scrutinise the file and transmit the same for
necessary action to the DPRO/RDD/CIPR through concerned officer.
4(1)(b)(iv)- the norms set byit for the discharge of its functions
The norms set by District Office Manual are being followed for the discharge of
functions.

Visitors with any problems are welcome between 3p.m. and 5 p.m. on all working
days to meet any of the designated officials.
The Divisional Information Centre located at Kothapet , Nuzvidu
functioning from 10.30 a.m. to 5.pm. functioning on all working days.
