INSTALLATION
As with any optically monitored turnstile system, care and consideration must be
taken when receiving, uncrating, and laying out the system. Errors or misunderstandings
in installation can and most likely will cause erroneous operation of the system. Please
take time to go over the included documentation as well as any and all documentation
forwarded from the factory prior to the units arrival.
The system consists of two pedestals to make up one lane of a SpeedStile system.
If this is a multiple lane system, you will have one or more first pedestals, one or more
center pedestals, and one or more last pedestals. For ease of explanation, it will be
assumed that this is a two lane system. When the units are unpacked, there will be a
Master unit a Master/Slave unit and a Slave unit. The Master unit can be identified by
looking at the electronics package and finding the LCM02 board. The center EEPROM
will have a label on it listing the firmware version and whether it is a Master or Slave.
The Master will also be the unit that has a circuit breaker above the transformer. The
need to identify each unit is critical for proper lane layout and pedestal placement. The
master of each lane needs to be on the exit or secure side of the lane. The slave is located
on the unsecured or enter side of the lane.

After placement of the units is complete, the interconnecting cable can be ran and
terminated. There are three interconnect cables for each lane; Power a 120 VAC
connection from Master to Slave, Data communications from Master to Slave, Battery
battery power from Master to Slave. The Data and Battery cables terminate on the SG1
card. The power is connected separately on terminals below the SG1 card.

Current Over Sensing Potentiometer__
__Ribbon Cable

The UMC card is linked to the LCM02 via a paper encased ribbon cable run
along the backside of the UMC and the LCM02 card. The UMC controls the motor using
DC power via the two motor control wires located at the top left corner of the card. The
encoder communicates to the drive card exactly where the motor is positioned.
Depending on the type of unit the encoder is either located on the back of the motor or
just adjacent to it connected to it by a belt. There are three fuses located on the card for
its protection. The Current Over Sensing (COS) Potentiometer is used to set the limit of
CSO before the drive card sends the signal to the motor to reverse its direction and drive
the panels back into the cabinet. This pot is typically set at the factory; however, there
are times when this pot needs to be adjusted. DO NOT ATTEMPT to adjust the pot
without first contacting the factory to determine whether or not this step is absolutely
necessary. This is a very sensitive adjustment - if an error is made, the potential for
damaging the drive card is greatly increased!

Program Switches__
The LCM02 Main Logic controller is connected to the SG1 card via the
communications cable. The LCM02 is protected by a fuse located in the upper left corner
of the board. The firmware EEPROM, located in the center of the board, is marked with
a label denoting whether it is a master or a slave unit. Both units share identical
hardware, the only difference is the absence of the program EEPROM on the slave
LCM02. The programming parameters for the unit are held in the program EEPROM on
the master unit. The input from the access control system connects to the SpeedStile via
the card reader inputs on the board. The LED display is used for both determining the
operations of the unit as well as for programming using the programming switches. See
the programming section for more detail.

__Main & Slave Battery Connection

The SG 1 card performs a number of different functions within the system. The
data interconnect between the master and slave unit connects on the terminal at the top
left corner of the board. It communicates with the LCM02 board via the link at the top
middle of the board. The photo beam are powered from the top right of the board and
their signals received on the bottom left. The battery connections for both the incoming
batteries and the transfer to the slave unit as well as the charging circuit are located at the
bottom center of the board. The alarm outputs to the access control system are located on
the far right side of the board. The pictogram is controlled by the SG1 as well,
connecting at the top right hand of the board.

PHOTO BEAMS
The SpeedStile operates using six total photo sensors and one safety cell. The
photo beams are a paired system, using transmitters and receivers. The receiving beams
are always located on the same side as the electronics package and the transmitters are
across the lane just opposite the receiving beams. There are no beams to align and no
reflectors to install. Beam alignment is achieved through proper installation of the units,
ensuring that the pedestals are not only aligned with one another but square to each other
as well. Beams can be identified by one of two ways. The first is to examine the beam
itself, a receiving beam will have three conductors leading into the connection block
adjacent to the beam, and a transmitting beam will only have two. The second is to trace
the cable leading from the SG1 card. Receiving beams have a cable that can be traced all
the way to the SG1 card, transmitting beams all couple to a circuit board that provides
power to the beams. All the beams have a local connection point for ease of service and
replacement.

The receiving beams all terminate on the lower left of the SG1 card. Located
above each termination point of each beam is an LED that is illuminated when the
receiving beam detects the transmitter. When blocking the beam, the LED will go dark.

By associating the colored circles to their corresponding arrows, the termination

points of each receiving beam can be determined. This can be helpful when trouble
shooting the unit. The safety cell is located in the center of the unit. When this beam is
blocked the panels cease movement in their current position, when the beam/obstruction
is cleared the panels will resume their movement. Obstruction of this beam will NOT
cause the panels to retract, retraction will only occur when an over current is sensed, i.e.
something pressing against the panel as it attempts to move.

ACCESS CONTROL INTEGRATION

Integration to any Access Control System (ACS) is accomplished by terminating
to a couple points on the SpeedStile. Card readers, typically proximity readers, can be
mounted to the face of the units, or, more commonly, to the underside of the tops. For
more information regarding the possible mounting techniques, contact the factory
directly, contact information is provided at the end of the document.
The SpeedStile operates by receiving a signal from the ACS across two points on
the LCM02 board. The contact from the ACS must be a volt free N/O contact and of a
duration of 1 second or less. If there is to be a Desk Top Controller (DTC), this would be
landed parallel to the ACS on the same set of contacts. The same connection is necessary
in both the Master and Slave sides of each unit. There is a point on the Master side SG1
card to land an emergency override, i.e. a Fire Alarm system or some other type of Life
Safety System. When connecting either the ACS or Life Safety System, each function
must be given an independent relay for proper operation, these units CAN NOT be
parallel together. The only parallel connection that will not affect operation is the DTC
and ACS connections for each direction.

7.

Power down the lane, Master side.

Press and hold SW2.
Power up the lane.
Wait for the LED display to read 0.0.
If display reads anything other than 0.0. STOP!
Determine whether the two dots are present, i.e. 0.0. or 00.
If the dots are present, then use the SW3 button to move up in address (parameter)
or the SW4 button to move down in parameter (address) locations.
8. If the dots are NOT present, then, press the SW2 button once to make the dots
reappear, then use the SW3 or SW4 buttons as necessary to reach 0.0.

To Program:
1. To move to the necessary parameter, use the SW3 to move up or the SW4 button
to move down 0.1., 0.2., 0.3., etc.
2. To enter parameters press the SW2 button once. The display will change from the
address X.X. to the value of that parameter XX, no dots.
3. To change the value of a parameter, use the SW3 button to move up or the SW4
button to move down to the desired value.
4. To exit the value area of a parameter, press the SW2 button once, this will take
you from XX to X.X.
5. When finished programming, press the SW1 button wait two seconds and then
power down the lane, wait another five seconds, then power the lane back up.
This will ensure the new parameters have been sent to the slave unit.
