No confundir TOEFL PBT con TOEFL ITP! Aunque el examen institucional TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program-un
examen oficial) tambin es de papel y se utiliza un lpiz para anotar las respuestas en la hoja de respuestas, no se le
debe llamar "Paper-Based".

Hi!
How was your week? Mine was excellent! I'm excited to share this lesson with you today, because it's something a little bit different.
Let's start by reading the following dialogue between four friends who are having a conversation about their weekend:
Paul: What did you do this weekend?
Salman: We just stayed at home. We wanted to go skiing in the mountains, but we didn't in the end.
Paul: Neither did we. We had to stay and visit my parents. What did you do Camilla?
Camilla: We didn't go skiing either. But we did go to that new restaurant in town. It was so delicious!
Alissa: So did we! And I forgot to do all the laundry again.
Salman: I didn't do any laundry either.
Paul and Camilla: Neither did we!
"Neither" is a combination of "not + either". It is used with the verb in the affirmative. For example:
"I didn't do any laundry"
"Neither did we!"
If we use "either" in a sentence, you must also add "not". For example:
"We didn't go skiing either"
So how do we use "either" and "neither" in the past and future? We use the auxiliary "did" in the past and "will" in the future with "either" and "neither" in the same way that we use the auxiliaries "do" and "does"
in the present. For example:
"We wanted to go skiing in the mountains, but we didn't in the end."
"Neither did we."
"May won't be very warm this year"
"Neither will June."
Let's see some examples on how to use "either" and "neither" with other modal verbs:
"We wouldn't travel in this weather."
"Neither would I."
"Salman couldn't swim until he was twenty."
"Neither could I."
Here's a quick tip: in the first person singular, instead of saying:
Neither do I
Neither did I
Neither will I
We can simply say: "Me neither!".
You can learn more about short answers in Unit 107.
Ok, let's see if you understood today's lesson: what is the correct answer to the following quiz?
'He doesn't like this coffee and she _____'
A. doesn't too
B. doesn't neither
C. also does
D. doesn't either
If you want to find out the correct answer, watch the video below. Watch until the end of the video to hear teacher Ella's grammar explanation.
Hello!
I hope you are well.
Today we are going to look at some sense verbs in English. This lesson will help you understand how to use these very common verbs correctly.
Firstly let's look at a list of sense verbs with examples.
to feel : I feel sick!
to look : Catherine looks nice in her new dress.
to sound : Your voice sounds tired.
to see : I can see a bird in that tree.
to hear : We heard the football fans shouting.
to taste : I think paella tastes nice.
to smell : Roses smell beautiful.
to watch : At the weekend we normally watch a film together.
We can use sense verbs to describe something along with an adjective, for example:
This meal tastes delicious, thank you.
That noise sounds horrible.
The food smells bad. Throw it away!
She looked too tired to go out.
We can also use sense verbs with nouns with the following structure - subject + sense verb + like + object - to say that something is similar to or sounds, smells, tastes, etc, like something else.
You look so like my father; it's unbelievable!
This perfume smells like vanilla.
You look like a clown dressed in those clothes.
That sounds like water dripping on the floor.
So there you have it.
I hope this has helped you understand sense verbs more. For more information, take a look at unit 79 of the ABA online course.
Have a great weekend!
Best wishes,
Hello again!
How are you? I hope you are well and enjoying your Friday!
