A Short Note on Reincarnation

by Frater Pyramidatus
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law
For some time, especially whilst using Thelemic greetings, I had become convinced that I was the
reincarnation of Aleister Crowley. Although my opinion of this has altered there are still some
coincidences with my life that offer up conceptual opposites between my life and his:
1. Crowley was born into a religious family of Plymouth Brethren. My family, at the time of
my birth, were all atheists (what today we refer to as 'secular humanists'). Indeed my father
expressed a hatred of the Bible.
2. Crowley was only allowed to read religious literature during his formative years. I was not
only allowed to read anything, my mother had a large collection of left wing and liberal
literature that I was given free reign over. Indeed I was into fantasy role playing and Games
Workshop books that can be seen as the antithesis of Christendom.
3. Crowley distanced himself from his family quite early on. I have been in regular contact
with mine all my life.
4. Crowley received a huge inheritance whilst still young. My family wrote me out of the will
almost completely.
5. Crowley knew many famous people of the period; I know no celebrities whatsoever.
6. Crowley hated beer. When I used to drink that was pretty much all I used to indulge in.
7. Crowley was a member of many magical and mystical fraternities. I am a member of none.
8. Crowley travelled the world. I pretty much stayed in Dorset.
9. Crowley had a photographic memory and could play blindfold chess. I do not and can not
play chess blindfolded; indeed it has taken me 25 years to become an intermediate player.
10. If Crowley didn't like someone he would point out their faults immediately. In contrast I try
and get on with everyone and never criticise hardly at all.
11. Crowley climbed mountains. I am afraid of heights.
12. Crowley went by various pseudonyms and titles. I have always been known simply as
'Adam'.
13. Crowley was reluctant to cross the Qabalistic abyss. I did so at a very young age using
illicit drugs.
14. Crowley suffered with respiratory problems. I never have, despite being a heavy smoker.
15. Crowley's ex lovers sometimes fell foul and ended up dead or worse. All my ex lovers have
done well in life.
16. Crowley surrounded himself with disciples that hung on his every word. All my associates
merely tolerate me being a Thelemite, very few have ever taken orders from me.
17. Crowley's career was destroyed by his Abbey of Thelema in Cefalu. My career will be
made by my Abbey of Thelema.
It seems that if I am the reincarnation of Crowley then I have endeavoured to go through in many
senses the complete opposite of the man who live from 1875 to 1947. We have to ask ourselves the
question: would anyone want a complete rerun of their life? Would you not wish for something
different?
