The masthead is on the contents so there is a clear linkage throughout the magazine

and it carries branding throughout so it looks more professional. Also it will keep the
masthead visible to readers so they are constantly aware of the magazine branding
and will make the masthead more recognisable to them. However the colour of the
masthead is different on the contents page is white instead of black which is what it is
on the cover this is because the background is black on the contents therefore it
needs to be white so it contrasts with the background and stands out. Although they
are different colours they are still the same font therefore the branding is still carried
through also white fits in with the house style of the magazine due to the colour
scheme being black white and yellow.
The page numbers and
titles are in columns to fit
the forms and
conventions of a contents
layout. The page titles
next to the page number
allow the reader to
navigate their way
through the magazine so
they know what page to
find the article they are
interested in. There is also
page numbers on the
images so readers are
aware which article they
are related to. The page
numbers are in bright
yellow so they stand out

The image of the a group

of young people laughing
together in a club
environment represents
my target audiences
interests and hobbies of
going to raves therefore
this image allows them to
relate to the magazines
context. The image also
relates to the cover line on
the cover that is top 20

The contents title is also

at the top of the page
however it is in larger text
so it stands out on the
page from the other text.
The function of this
element is to inform the
reader what page of the
magazine this is.
The date line is situated
at the top of the page so
the reader is aware what
month the magazine was
made to be launched.

The sub titles of each

column are also in capitals
and are yellow so they
strongly stand out on the
page and the yellow fits in
with the colour scheme.
The sub titles features
and monthly are common
subtitles on content pages
so this is why I chose
them to fit forms and
conventions of all music
magazines.

In the bottom left corner there is the twitter logo and

sound cloud logo this is because my target audience
are between the ages of 16-25 so are very active on
social networking websites such as twitter and avid
house music listeners use sound cloud frequently to
listen to the latest house and dance music mixes. So I
incorporated these logos on my contents so they are
aware that my magazine is active on these so sites so
they can follow them and interact with my magazine.

The editors note is

situated in the bottom
right corner because it
isnt as important for
readers to see straight
away unlike the dateline,
masthead and content
title. The editors note
makes the magazine seem
more personal to the
reader because they are
able to get to know the
magazines editor
therefore may appreciate
the work put into the
issue. The editors note is
signed of with the editors
note in their handwriting
and is giving direct
address in the image also
adding to the personal
element. The image of the
editor so the reader is
aware of what the editor
looks like this may make
them feel like they can
relate to her/him more.
The editor is a young
white female therefore the
target audience will
definitely be able to relate

of a female in a festival
environment wearing the
stereotypical outfit of a person at
a festival. This includes a
checked shirt, sunglasses and a
bum bag. This mise en scene
relates to the cover line festival
essentials. I chose to relate the
image to a festival because it fits
with the date the issue was
issued in may which is the lead
up to summer and festivals are
common places my target
