paragraph. This format is considered the most
appropriate to elicit arranging sentences from the
test-takers.

Justification:
1. The test will be taken from the book and
also some sources in internet since those can
help students easily comprehend the
materials.
2. The test will be divided into two, arranging
scrambled sentences and writing simple
procedure text.
3. The topic deals with general issues, rather

than the specific issues or specific field of


interests.

The number of words of the writing text is about


100-150 words.
Most of the language forms are relatively
relevance with the junior high school level.
There are various models of writing
comprehension test, some are like matching
paragraphs into good order, completion and soon

Writing of test items

The procedure of writing the test items is as follow:


selecting one scrambled text of procedural text
from the main sources of writing skill
identifying the students answer of arranging the
sentences
The second test is writing a simple procedural

The scoring procedure is based on the following


two criteria:
a. The procedure of writing (for test 1)
Whether or not the arrangements are correct related
to the text.
The scores are:
5 : The perfect arranging the scrambled sentence
0 : The arranging the sentence is completely
wrong.
b. Writing Score (for test 2)
Whether or not the language used is good English
4 : The content is relevant or not
2,5 : Organization, the way how the students
write the paragraph correctly or not
1,5 : Vocabulary use
2 : Structure of the paragraph of each sentence

The scoring procedure will use scoring guide. The

the most points. For test 2, the score is based on
Content, Organization, Vocab and Structure

The test is going to be validated internally by


applying Content Validity (by making some
specifications of what aspects to be measured based
on the objectives of the course). AND construct

Justification:
Considering the students grade is still in the second semester and has studied
for only 2 months in new semester of 2014/2015 year, understand to write
procedural text will be more relevant than other activities. In addition,
referring to objective of the course in which it is intended to train the student
up to better English writing proficiency, it implies that when they are tested in
mid-term test they have not achieved the KKM. For this, 60% of the test
items are to achieve the second objective, which target the students to be able
to write the texts, whereas 40% of the rest questions are to achieve the
second.
SCORING GUIDE or KEY ANSWER
1. The scoring is based on the following criteria:
a.

Arranging scrambled sentences: whether or not the answer is


correctly based on the order to the text or paragraph.

b.

Writing Score: whether or not the language used is acceptably good


English.

2. Since Writing Test is aimed at assessing test-takers writing skill, the


correct arrangement of the sentences is the main criteria of scoring. While,

for the composing simple procedural text is based on Content,

Steps:

I.

Cut the strawberries and grapes in half on two slices


Sunrise salad is ready to serve
Place a small bundle of mint leaves on the yogurt as a garnish
Slice the banana into chunks
Wash the fruit and let them dry on paper towels
Add a bit of yoghurt on top of the fruit salad
Take three spoonfuls of mixed fruit and put them in a small bowl
Combine all the fruit in the large bowl and mix them
Arrange the sentences above into a good paragraph
