I. Descriptive Title:

INTERNSHIP ON ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES

II. Course Number:

ACCTG 504

III. Prerequisite Subject:ACCTG 501 & Completion of at least 90% of courses in


the BSMA curriculum
IV. Course Description
- requires a minimum of one semester and will include a minimum of 300
contract hours
- requires a written report and should cover the following:
1) Description of key task and responsibilities
2) Evaluation of training and overall learning environment by
cooperating agency
3) Evaluation of student by internship experience
4) How well Accountancy Program prepared them for internship
experience
5) Recommendations for improvement of specific internship position
and accountancy

6) Total number of hours worked during internship
V. Guidelines
1) Before deployment to cooperating agencies, faculty internship advisor
shall:
- Proper attire/ uniform to be used
- require the submission of the following:
a) Curriculum vitae in two (2) copies: 1 copy for advisor and 1
for agency
b) Envelope / folder (long) to place submitted reports
c) Index card (5x8) to indicate remarks/summary reports for
each intern
2) The internship plan is prepared by the intern at the beginning of the
term

2nd copy representative of cooperating agency

3) The faculty advisor prepares endorsement letter and has it endorsed by
the Head of the Department and the Dean of the School
4) The interning students grade will be determined by the faculty advisor,
based on the following components:
a) Progress Report
- prepared by the intern and should coincide with internship
plan submitted.
- submitted every other two weeks supported by daily
time card (DTR)
- accomplished in three (3) copies
1st copy faculty advisor
2nd copy representative of agency (optional)
3rd copy intern
b) Final Report
- prepared by the intern at the end of the term
- This should be HAND WRITTEN and not more than three (3)
pages
- The following are to be commented by the intern
a) Description of key task and responsibilities performed during
internship
b) Assessmentof most valuable things learned from internship
c) Evaluation of training and overall learning environment
provided by
employer
d) Evaluation of your internship experience and how it
impacted career goals
e) How well the Accountancy program prepared you for the
internship
f) Recommendations for improvement of
- Specific internship position
- Accountancy Internship Course in general
g) Total number of hours worked during internship
- This is accomplished in three (3) copies
1st copy faculty advisor
2nd copy Head of the department
3rd copy intern
c) Internship Evaluation
- filled up by the students on-site supervisor at the cooperating
agency
- shall be signed and placed in a sealed envelope when
submitted to the faculty
5) At the end of the term, the faculty internship advisor shall submit the
following to the Head of

- Summary report
- Final report of each student
- Summary of recommendations/suggestions of Cooperating Agency for
the

improvement of Internship Program
