Quality

Based in Belgium, Danilith Delmulle NV is a construction

company specialising in residential properties. The

company is highly active within its domestic housing

market and is present in the Netherlands, the UK,

Luxembourg and France. Speaking with Mr Geert

Delmulle, Director for Danilith Delmulle, Jeff Galliers

looks at the company in the following article.

t he company’s

system for

housing projects

utilise the Danilith

‘automated traditional construction’. this

was developed by mr Daniel Delmulle

during the 1960s with the goal of providing

faster construction with less labour to

produce better quality properties. With 50

years of experience in this form of

construction, Danilith Delmulle combines

excellent customer service with high-quality

materials to provide exceptional homes for

all budgets.

the Danilith system of construction is

an innovative method. Producing major

component parts of residential housing,

which are then finished in the company’s

factory and assembled on site; the system

produces the walls of a house or an

apartment as a finished element. All of its

constituent parts are BEnor approved (a

Belgium based accreditation for products

that meets Eu standards for items such as

bricks and tiles). the wall is constructed

horizontally and built up in layers; the

external aspect is comprised of bricks laid

by hand. Windows and doors are built in,

as are conduits for plumbing and electricity,

and the structure is reinforced with both

steel and concrete. this method ensures

that the walls are finished to a high standard

and that construction is not impaired by

adverse weather. mr Delmulle outlined

that research and development has been an

important aspect in the company’s progress

and has assisted the refinement of the

Danilith system. With the current focus on

both insulation and ventilation, Danilith

Delmulle will be increasing the thickness of

its walls over the next two years. Currently

the walls are constructed to a thickness

of 25 centimetres; this will be enlarged

to 30 centimetres to provide a significant

improvement to the finished building’s

improve energy efficiency.

continued from page 00

mr Delmulle noted that, although

this system has been very successful, the

company cannot afford to be complacent

if it is to expand. Danilith Delmulle

has an annual turnover of €40 million,

90

domestic market in Belgium. Looking to its

export markets, the company is seeking to

expand its presence abroad; developing its

business in the netherlands and increasing

its penetration of the uK. mr Delmulle

commented that the last decade has shown

an increasing market trend of promotional

projects, rather than individual housing.

these promotional projects are residential

estates; Danilith Delmulle invests in

both the land and the construction, and

undertakes the marketing of the properties.

percent of which is derived from its

this move away from individual housing

projects reflects the significant effect that

the current economic situation has had

upon the construction market in general.

mr Delmulle outlined that its markets

within the netherlands have dwindled;

the company now constructs less than

10

previous figure of approximately 40. Of

equal importance is the trend toward

properties each year, compared to its

smaller properties that are compactly

situated. Mr Delmulle first observed

this tendency in the uK and explained

that it is increasingly the trend within

Belgium too; reflecting both the potential

homeowner’s income and the reluctance

of banks to provide larger mortgages.

Although individual housing construction

still accounts for the largest percentage of

Danilith Delmulle’s turnover (around 60

percent), project construction is growing;

Mr Delmulle confirmed that it will continue

to grow and represents the future direction

of the company. With the growing demand

here, the company anticipates a resurgence

of its markets within the netherlands and

the opportunity to recoup its presence there.

Danilith Delmulle is therefore looking to

the future, investing into the technologies

surrounding its Danilith construction

system. Furthermore, mr Delmulle

explained that the company will continue

to promote the highest standards in both

the quality of its products and its customer

service. the company has developed an

excellent reputation for both and aims to

provide 100 percent customer satisfaction.

this it seeks to achieve through an on-going

process of communication with its customers

during the construction of its properties. in

both its individual and project constructions,

Danilith Delmulle pays close attention to the

needs of its customers and strives to meet

their requirements. Each construction is

completed with a questionnaire, which

offers the homeowner a facility to offer

feedback on both the property and the

workforce involved in its construction. this

information is projected on to all future

construction work to further enhance the

company’s reputation and service.

in a similar way, the company focuses

on quality from both its suppliers and its

subcontractors. As mr Delmulle observed:

‘it is not always price that is the most

important [factor]’, Danilith Delmulle

engages its partners on the basis quality of

their services. This is best reflected in the

excellent relationship that the company

enjoys with madelec nv; providing

plumbing, heating and electrical facilities,

it is Danilith Demulle’s biggest partner.

mr Delmulle concluded that the company

would make further investments into its

marketing projects for continued growth.

Providing individual properties to around

200 people each year, the sales team for

Danilith Delmulle utilises newspaper and

radio advertising, trade fairs and open

house days to demonstrate the quality of its

properties and continue attracting clients. n
