Your response to Sufferings
Before embarking on search of a happier life, it is important to
consider what it is you are looking for. Happiness is not the
euphoria we might feel after something nice happens like
getting a degree, a loveable partner, a new home etc. These
may be high points in our lives, but they do not represent a
sustainable level of happiness.
Consider the steady state of your life right now. On an average
day, with no positive or negative experiences, how do you feel?
This background feeling, when nothing is happening, is your
state of happiness.
Another gauge of your present level of happiness is how you
react in a negative situation. It might be as simple as someone
making a derogative remark about you, or something more
dramatic like an illness or the loss of personal property.
Happiness is no new discovery. The ideas have been there
during all ages contained in our religious and spiritual texts. We
only need to rediscover and learn it.
This one day session is about learning the art of being happy.

M. Shahid Nafees

Banker / Corporate Trainer

Shahid Nafees is a thoroughly experienced banker and corporate trainer having more
than 30 years experience. In banking sector he served in senior positions within Pakistan
and at many overseas locations. Having pioneered the training institute at Habib Bank
Limited in 1977, he led the Training & Development Centers of HBL and Bank Alfalah Ltd
later as SVP, Principal & Training Head for 16 years. His last assignment as practical
banker was Senior Vice President, Member Regional Credit Committee and Chief
Manager of Nairobi (Kenya) branch.
Mr. Shahids work extends to governmental and semi governmental organizations. He
has developed and executed training courses in various organizations, including the
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the Federal Board of
Revenue (FBR). These trainings have benefited entire batches of entrepreneurs, exporters, income tax commissioners, and IT officers in these organizations. In addition to this,
he has been a regular and well respected speaker at the State Bank of Pakistans
officers training program (SBOT) at their training institute NIBAF. He has also been a
regular speaker at the IBP, Institute of Bankers Pakistan. He has also offered many
courses on export promotion and related subjects at the Export Promotion Bureau.
As a lead trainer he has developed over 100 well researched training courses and
conducted over 800 sessions in the areas of Soft Skills, Management, Training, Human
Psychology, O&D and Self Development. He took these courses to over 18000 participants not only within Pakistan but to more than 20 countries of the world including
Europe, South Asia, Middle East, Africa and Far East.
