1.3 Perform the calculation of problems on diesel engine as per attachment.

Problem 4.1
A nine cylinder, 2-stroke cycle, single acting diesel engine has an 850 mm bore and a 2100 mm stroke. What indicated
power will be developed if the average mean effective pressure is 17 bar at a speed of 110 RPM?
Problem 4.2
A six cylinder, 4-stroke cycle, single acting diesel engine has a 400 mm bore and a 900 mm stroke.
What indicated power will be developed if the average mean effective pressure is 8 bar at a speed of 600 RPM?

resistances in the mechanism of the engine.
Determine the mechanical efficiency of the engine in Problems 4.1 & 5.1.

Problem 10
A ship installed with a Sulzer RTA 84C series engine which is a typical modern slow-speed, two-stroke, crosshead type,
long stroke diesel engine. It has 12 cylinders, a bore of 840 mm and a stroke of 2400 mm and an operating speed of
100 rpm. Its mean indicated pressure and torque measured by an engine indicator and a torsionmeter at 100 rpm is 18
bar and 3,886 kNm respectively.
Determine the following performance specifications of the above engine (in S.I. units):
(a) Indicated power
