Good morning to my fellow parents and also teachers, thank you for attending this 2nd

PTA meeting. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has taken some time
from their busy schedule to attend this meeting. Parents, by attending this meeting you have
shown how much youve care and concerned about the education you children have and
teachers by attending this meeting this shown that you also care and prioritized the children
above anything else and your willingness to work together with parents for the sake of the
children. This meeting are held to address concerning matters that were raised from the last
meeting and hopefully through this meeting we will be able to address the problems, discuss
the solutions and what can we as parents and also what teachers can do to help and
contribute. Hopefully through this meeting we will be able to work together toward helping
our children and students.

We all are aware the importance of education, it is essential not just for the future of
the country but it is also important for everyone to get as much education as possible in order
to make sure that they have more secured future and for them to be able to compete and
survive in this competitive world. Realising the importance of education, Im sure many
parents are working hard to make sure that their children get the best education so that they
can become educated generation with the best education. And because of this also I believe
that all teachers are working hard and doing their best in providing the best atmosphere,
environment and learning experience for all students.

From our last meeting, one matter that arose and was discussed is the low and poor
that the students of this school in academic especially in Mathematics, Science and the
English Language subjects. Many parents have voiced the concern that their children are
performing well under their ability and they are afraid that if this continues children wont be
able to keep up with the schools syllabus. Parents also are worried that if the proficiency of
their children doesnt improve, it could damage the childrens academic development. But
although parents have the right to worry about their children education level, it is important
that we do not pointing finger to anyone. We must know that everyone is working their best
for the childrens education and instead of playing the blaming game, its important to pay
more attention toward figuring the problems, finding the solutions and hopefully find several
ways we as PTA can do to help the children, teachers and also school in this matter.

From the observation that has been done from talking to students and also teachers,
we have identified two main problems concerning the level of proficiency of students. The
first one would be most students admitted that they find the content of what they are learning
to be boring and redundant. Focusing on three main subjects that we have noticed the most
problematic one that are Mathematics, Science and English Language, we find that students
most often didnt enjoy their learning session. And when students didnt find enjoyment in
learning, they tend to lose focus and easily distracted in classes. When this happen mostly
what teachers are teaching wont be absorbed by students resulting them in not
understanding or getting the lesson that has been given by the teacher. There are several
reasons that could contribute to why students are losing focus and interest in classroom.
From observation we notice that two main reasons why this happen are mainly because the
lack of materials used in teaching and also the teaching of teacher itself.

It is no doubt that this school are lacking teaching aids and tools that can be used in
teaching. Materials that can be used to help teaching and learning to be more fun and
interesting for example such as smart board, computers and other media tools that can be
useful in helping teacher shaping their lesson in a way that it will not only be packed with
valuable information and knowledge but also it can be fun and interesting so that students
can enjoy learning it. These teaching aids or teaching tools may seem insignificant, but to
teachers and students they can bring much difference and most of the time with the use of
these tools, teaching and learning session could also create different end result. Aside from
that, it is come to my knowledge that the existence teaching id and materials that are
available in this school such as the media room and the ICT room is rarely being used by
teachers during lesson. This has to change and teachers need to realise the importance of
using aids and tools to help them in teaching.

Aside from lacking use or teaching aids, many students complain that the lesson itself
can be rather boring and uninteresting. Because of this most students tend to lose focus and
attention easily during lesson. The complains differs from teacher standing at one places
only during teaching, teachers voices are too slow and cant be heard for most of the time

and sometime theres even complain about the constant use of materials from text book that
they felt the teaching would has less meaning since what the teachers are teaching already
can be find in the text book. The monotone and also teacher centric lessons also contributes
in helping students to lose interest in learning of the lesson. Traditional teaching and
common teaching practise seem to be no longer useful in these modern day teachings. While
it works before long time ago, its no longer deem suitable to use the old teaching method for
students who are more used to creative and free thinking. It is no doubt that using the old
methods of teachers doing all the talking while students just sitting there and listen to what
teachers are talking wont be able to attract students to learn, for easier subjects it might still
have work but for subjects like Mathematics Science and English Language where the lesson
itself is already hard, this kind of teaching methods are no longer useable or suitable.

Looking at this problem, two solutions were constructed to help this problem and
also to try to help students to learn more. For the first issue, concerning the lack of materials
and tools needed for teaching and learning experience. It is suggested that school should try
to get more tools needed for learning. It is suggested that school to buy smart board for
students so that they can learn in a more interactive manner and having fun while learning.
We also suggest that the computer room in this school to be updated, for it to have a newer
computer sets and for it to be enlarged so that more students can use it at the same time. It is
also suggested that the computer room to employ a worker to take care and maintain the
computers all the time instead of relying on teachers to do that since we all know teachers
have more work in their hand already. Aside from that, we are also suggesting for the media
room to have new equipment and to change the old media set such as the television and the
player to be changed into new one. PTA committee also suggested that this school to create a
new well equipped supply room that have materials that teachers can get to use in the lesson.
By having supply room, teachers wont have trouble in getting their much needed materials
that they need for lesson anymore. It is important we all think that the supply room to be
conducted in free so that teacher wont be burdened with the cost of teachings.

For second matter, as the problem lies in teachers, we would politely ask the teachers
to consider changing their teaching method to be more updated with the latest technique and
style of teaching. Along with the new materials and tools provided for them, it is only logical

that teachers also make some improvement in their teaching so that the materials and tools
can be fully utilised for the sake of the students. However, we realise that it wont be easy for
teachers to change their way of teaching just like that, so we would like to send teachers for
workshop and lectures so they can learn new teaching methods and techniques. There are
several way how this can be done, either teachers will be selected in small groups and attend
workshop on teaching on the weekends of we can arrange for instructors to come to school
to teach teachers in the school. Theres nothing wrong in learning and changing yourself, and
for us all for the sake of students, it will be such a nice way to help students to be more
interested in learning and studying by applying new teaching methods and technique in
lessons. Aside from that in order to make sure that the new teaching aids and tools didnt go
to waste, it is important that teachers know how to use and handle all the tools provided for
them.

What have been suggested seems a little farfetched and ambitious but we assure all
parents and teachers that we are committed to these suggestions and we are ready to make
sure that these suggestions to go through. However, because we are merely a Parent Teacher
Association only, we have to admit that we are lacking in terms of the budget needed to
execute these plans. In order to buy all the tools and to make the free supply room into
reality, we are in need of more fund and money and this is where parents come in hand. In
order to make sure and to help our children to get better education in a better environment, I
would like to encourage parents to be actively participating in the fund drive that PTA
committee are conducting in order to raise funds for this school. The drive will be divided
into two; one is for the getting the materials and tools for school and another one is for the
workshop and training for teachers.

There are two methods that we are thinking of executing in order to get money and
funds from, the first one we would humbly ask the help and cooperation of all parents for a
donation and sponsorship drive. Instead of asking students to ask for donation for school,
since we are needing larger amount of money, we want to ask parents some of their time and
effort for this drive. The aim for this drive is to collect enough money so we can put it into
our PTA fund to help finance the school in buying all the necessary items that the school
needed. We also would like if any parents would like to make donations or sponsor some of

the items that the school needed. If anything, we would like to humbly ask the parents to get
sponsorship for this school on our behalf.

Another funding effort that we are planning to do is PTA night; basically our annual
get together this year would be a dinner party open to all parents and also teachers. We are
planning to host a dinner party where all parents and teachers of this school are more than
welcome to participate. We are planning to sell the dinner seat for an amount of money for
parents and teacher plus one, and we also will have raffles ticket sold at the dinner for
donations for the school fund. The raffles ticket will be entitled parents to participate in the
lucky draw that will be held later at the dinner party. The reason why we choose dinner party
is because although this dinner party main objective is to collect money for school it also can
be a great place and opportunity for teachers and parents to know each other and mingle
around is a more relaxed environment too. Another reason why we decided on dinner party
to raise the fund is because we felt that both parents and teachers deserve some time out for
all of their hard work and to get away for their every days responsibility and duty. Dinner
party seems logical enough as we can kill two birds with one stone through this dinner, we
can have our little mini get away and we can also raise some money for school at the same
time.

To help and get involved with childrens education is one of PTAs role, we are here
to make sure that our children will get the best help and the best education they can get. It is
our duty to help them to obtain this the best that we can, and in order to help our children we
also have to help the school and also teachers as well. PTA is not intended to force parents to
do whatever we told them to do, and we for sure are not making any of suggestions a must
do. If there is any concern or enquiry arises from this, you all are more than welcome to
express it here so we can discuss it together. For now the main objective for this planning is
to help students and to make sure that they will benefit from all of these. Hopefully we can
see the improvement from the students after all the effort we put through for them and
hopefully all the planning that we have constructed will be able to be executed immediately
to make sure that students will get the benefits as soon as possible.

Main focus of this meeting today is to address to issue that could affect the future of
the students that is our children and how we as parents and teachers could work together to
help this problem. So it is for the sake of the children that we need to work and strive
forward in making sure that they get the best that they deserve too. To end this, I would once
again express my thanks and gratitude to all the parents and teachers that have come to this
meeting. Thank you for all the supports and concerns and hopefully this meeting has been
fruitful for the sake of our children.
