SILVER CHALICE IS FEATURED AT SERVICES

SIDNEY - A silver chalice presented to Christ Church at Sidney 60 years ago was featured at special services
at the Feast of All Saints.
The inscription inside the chalice is in the Sioux Indian language.
Company I of the 21st Infantry, stationed at Sidney 60 years ago, presented the chalice to the Episcopal
Church. Company I's personnel were Sioux Indians and a great many were communicants of the church.
Company I is still an active component of the Army, now in service in the Far East.
The Rev. Charles Fred Parks now is rector of Christ Church. His mother was present at the placing of the
cornerstone of the church in 1886. She and Mrs. A. K. Greenlee and other women of the church often told the
children of the Sidney area about the early days of the mission.
The recent services featuring the chalice were conducted by the Rev. Levi M. Rouillard, vicar of St.
Matthew's Mission Church at Rapid City, S.D. He conducted part of the service in the Sioux language.
