CERTAINTY IN THE POWER OF THE LIGHT

KABBALISTIC CONCEPTS

The portion of Vaera begins with one of the most dramatic and famous
events in the Torah the journey of the Israelites leaving from Egypt,
known as Exodus. Many movies were created about this story and
specifically around the great phenomenon of the ten plagues.
My teacher, Rav Berg, would always ask, What is the connection between a story that
happened a few thousand years ago and my life? How does it relate to me today?
The Zohar reveals that Egypt represents a force in our life that limits us from achieving our
greater potential. We often feel, deep down, that there is something great inside of us, a
great potential, that has not yet been revealed. We know there is so much more we can do
to go beyond where we are right now. Unfortunately, there is a force that pulls us back. It
could be self-doubt, fear, anger, the need to control, jealousy, complacency or any other
limiting, negative force. We feel trapped in a cage. This is Egypt.
In the portion of Vaera, we begin the process of breaking out of this invisible cage. The
first time the Light of the Creator assisted mankind in the process of releasing itself from

this cage was back in ancient Egypt. The Creator has revealed himself every year since then
to assist us in this process.
How many of us feel that there are areas in our lives where we feel like were in Egypt?
It could be a relationship that is stuck and we dont know how to go forward, or being in a
job that doesnt fully satisfy us, or a business that we just opened but isnt really working.
There is a key in this weeks Zohar portion that can assist us before we start the journey of
Exodus:
When Yisrael left Egypt, they did not know the Holy One, blessed be He.
When Moses came to them, he taught them this first precept, as written:
And you shall know that I am Hashem your Elohim, who brings you
out Were it not for this commandment, Yisrael would not be faithful TO
HASHEM, EVEN AFTER all these miracles and mighty acts that THE
HOLY ONE, BLESSED BE HE, performed for them in Egypt. After they
knew this commandment in general, miracles and mighty deeds were
performed for them, FOR THEY WERE ALREADY CERTAIN THAT
THEY WOULD BELIEVE IN HASHEM THROUGH THEM, AS IS
WRITTEN: AND YISRAEL SAWAND BELIEVED IN HASHEM, AND IN
MOSES HIS SERVANT

The first thing Moses taught the Israelites before they left Egypt is to know that the Creator
himself is the one that takes them out of Egypt.
When we go through moments of difficulty (or Egypt) in our life, how many of us think
that a solution or direction will come directly through the Light Force of the Creator? How
many of us know that?
The usual tendency is to think, I will figure out a solution. Yes, we do need to make a
plan, look for solutions, ask for help, and try different possible ways of working our issues
out.
What the Zohar is telling us is that before we look for ways out, make a plan, ask for help,
or even use spiritual tools (like the Zohar, 72 Names), we must know that the one that will

allow the transformation and create the breakthrough in the situation is the Light Force of
the Creator.
If we apply this knowledge to our life, repeating it to ourselves again and again, it can
change the whole way we experience our Egypt moments. When we face a moment of
difficulty, darkness, confusion, or lack of direction, we should say to ourselves, I know
that the only one that will transform this situation and create a breakthrough is the Light
Force of the Creator. Without the Light, I will be limited in creating a real breakthrough, no
matter how perfect my plans and ideas may be.
Once we internalize it and know it, the Zohar promises that miracles and mighty deeds
were performed for them.
Rav Berg used to repeat it again and again: Only through the assistance of the Light can we
transform the impossible to possible. The Rav says that believing involves doubt, but
knowing is certainty without a shadow of a doubt.
With the Light of this weeks portion we should ask for the strength and merit to own this
concept and make it part of our being, thereby attracting amazing miracles and blessings
into our lives.

CERTEZA EN EL PODER DE LA LUZ

La porcin de Vaer comienza con uno de los ms dramticos y famosos

eventos de la Tor: el viaje de los israelitas cuando salieron de Egipto
conocido como xodo. Se han hecho muchas pelculas sobre esta historia
y especficamente sobre el gran fenmeno de las diez plagas.
Mi maestro, Rav Berg, siempre preguntaba, Cul es la conexin entre una historia que
ocurri hace unos cuantos miles de aos y mi vida? Qu relacin tiene esa historia
conmigo hoy en da?.
El Zhar revela que Egipto representa una fuerza en nuestra vida que nos limita en el
proceso de alcanzar nuestro ms grande potencial. A menudo, en lo ms profundo de
nuestro ser, sentimos que hay algo grande en nuestro interior, un gran potencial que an no
ha sido revelado. Sabemos que podemos hacer mucho ms para ir ms all de donde
estamos actualmente. Desafortunadamente, hay una fuerza que no nos permite avanzar.
Puede ser la duda en nosotros mismos, miedo, ira, necesidad de controlar, celos,
complacencia u otra fuerza negativa limitante. Nos sentimos atrapados en una jaula. Esto es
Egipto.
En la porcin de Vaer comenzamos el proceso de salir de esta jaula invisible. La primera
vez que la Luz del Creador ayud a la humanidad en el proceso de liberarse de su propia

jaula fue en el antiguo Egipto. El Creador se ha revelado cada ao desde ese momento para
ayudarnos en este proceso.
A cuntos de nosotros nos parece que hay reas en nuestra vida en las que sentimos que
estamos en Egipto? Podra ser una relacin en la que estamos estancados y no
sabemos cmo avanzar, o que estamos en un trabajo que no nos satisface completamente, o
tenemos un negocio que acabamos de abrir pero que no est dando frutos.
Hay una clave en la porcin del Zhar de esta semana que nos puede ayudar antes de
empezar el viaje del xodo:
Cuando Yisrael sali de Egipto, no conocan al Santsimo, bendito sea l.
Cuando Mosh lleg a ellos, les ense este primer Precepto, como est
escrito: y sabrn que Yo soy Hashem su Elohim que los saca (Shemot
6:7). Si no fuera por este Precepto, los hijos de Yisrael no seran fieles A
HaSHEM, AUN DESPUS de todos estos milagros y actos poderosos que el
SANTSIMO, BENDITO SEA L, realiz para ellos en Egipto. Despus que
conocieron este Precepto en lo general, milagros y actos poderosos fueron
realizados para ellos, PORQUE YA ESTABAN SEGUROS DE QUE
CREERAN EN HaSHEM A TRAVS DE ELLOS, COMO EST ESCRITO:
Y VIO YISRAEL...Y CREYERON EN HaSHEM, Y EN MOSH, SU
SERVIDOR (Shemot 14:31).

Lo primero que Mosh le ense a los israelitas antes de dejar Egipto es saber que el
Creador mismo es quien los saca de all.
Cuando pasamos por momentos difciles (o Egipto) en nuestra vida, cuntos de nosotros
piensa que una solucin u orientacin vendr directamente a travs de la Fuerza de Luz del
Creador? Cuntos de nosotros lo sabemos?
La tendencia es pensar encontrar un solucin. S, necesitamos hacer un plan, buscar
soluciones, pedir ayuda e intentar maneras distintas de lidiar con nuestros asuntos. Lo que
el Zhar nos dice es que antes de buscar la solucin, hacer un plan, pedir ayuda o hasta usar
las herramientas espirituales (el Zhar, los 72 nombres, etc.), debemos saber que la Fuerza
de Luz del Creador es quien permitir la transformacin y producir el avance en la
situacin.

Si aplicamos este conocimiento en nuestra vida, repitindonoslo una y otra vez, puede
cambiar completamente la manera en la vivimos nuestros momentos Egipto. Cuando nos
enfrentamos a un momento difcil, oscuridad, confusin o falta de orientacin, debemos
decirnos, S que slo la Fuerza de Luz del Creador transformar esta situacin y producir
un avance. Sin la Luz estar limitado en la creacin de un avance real, sin importar que tan
perfectos sean mis planes e ideas.
Una vez que lo internalicemos y lo sepamos, el Zhar promete que los milagros y actos
poderosos se realizaron para ellos.
Rav Berg sola repetir una y otra vez: slo con la ayuda de la Luz podemos transformar lo
imposible en posible. El Rav dice que creer incluye dudar, pero saber es certeza sin
ninguna sombra de duda.
Con la Luz de la porcin de esta semana deberamos pedir fuerza y mrito para apropiarnos
de este concepto y hacerlo parte de nuestro ser, atrayendo de ese modo increbles milagros
y bendiciones a nuestra vida.
